Thread: Tailor Patch Update : Bodysuits
But... erm, maybe this is some Rorschach test or something, but I look at the new pattern and see a bear's face with the mouth right at... um. Yeah, it's a somewhat vivid suggestion. And quite a bit more suggestive than simply barbie-doll nakedness, in my opinion.
Personally, I don't object, but I feel like it sort of defeats the purpose. Even if you don't agree that it looks like a bear (maybe that's just because I'm a UCLA student), the pattern definitely "centers" on the area right where the legs meet. And I didn't think they wanted to call attention to that spot for all the raging-hormone-case 13-year-olds out there whose parents don't know how to talk to them.
Flesh colored suits still make you look naked. Now you just look like you're covered in crud and naked.
This is going to kill my sales of both suits and leggings, if only because I tend not to make things that I find ugly.
To me it looks like knobby fabric with random fractal patters on it, ham-handedly thrown in to make sure it still couldn't pass for skin, even for those with really low-detail video cards. I wouldn't mind it as an additional body suit, but it's no good as a replacement for the sleek, shiny suit it replaced.
My question is, who was trying to look naked anyway? Was this a big issue somewhere on the boards that I missed? Amazing that they could take this random issue, out of the blue, and fix it with a whole new schematic and texture, but they can't even fix the basic palettes that are broken on so many items. Seems like the latter would be much less work.
Honestly, I think the texturing is an improvement over the old body suit because it used to look...dirty. Not sexually dirty, but the shadowing looked bad, especially on light colors. The tact skin suit doesn't seem to have the same problem with shadowing, so I'm not sure why this was occurring on the infil. suit.
As for the leggings...there is something wrong with a person that thinks fleshcolored tights are too nude. In RL, at the age of 3, little girls begin to wear ballet tights...that are about the color of their skin. I fail to see how the infil pants were so bad...or the infiltrator's suit either for that matter. I don't mind the change on the suit, but their reason doesn't sit right with me. Thing is I don't think our opinions matter. *shrugs*

Do you mean just flesh colors that humans have? Maybe that'd be OK, and doable, if the rule was that human nudity was bad, but alien nudity is OK. But if not, then what? Once you start eliminating the potential flesh tones for Zabraks, Mon Calamari, Bothans, Twi'leks... you end up with precious little remaining!
Now, you could maybe put in some sort of check in the programming like "if skin color = suit color, then you can't wear it" when equipped. But that'd be more than just an art change, and could have unintended consequences of various sorts. (example off the top of my head - how would it interact with Image Design? Say I, pasty-skinned white girl, put on a light brown suit, then get an image designer to darken my skin tone?)
The color palettes that are bugged need code fixes. Code has bugs. Code must be debugged. Seemingly innocuous changes can cause entire systems to stop functioning, making the game completely unplayable. Changing what happens when you click on a spot, or changing where the game gets data to display in a particular location, are much bigger changes than changing the texture artwork that a particular item uses. Basically, the only change they did to the bodysuit was in what a static graphic looked like. They didn't even have to change the code, because it has the same name as the old picture. Now the name that the game code knows pulls up the different-looking texture. A few hours to fix, and artists are cheaper than coders.
So basically it's a very small amount of work that their lawyers told them would save a lot of money in lawsuits from parents who want carte blanche to leave their kids unsupervised with anything rated "teen", rather than a much larger amount of work that their market research folks have told them would make them a small increment more money in the long run. Cynical, but most likely true.
ok, here's my two sides
1) There mightve been a better way to curtail this ''nudity'' without runing what was a nice item. Maybe limiting the colour to only solid black as it was, after all, an infiltration suit...unless you were planning to infilitrate under cover of broad daylight, then im sure you'd need a lemon yellow suit lol. basically, basic black would have been perfect, there is NO solid, jet, midnight black skintone. ergo, no nudes.
2) thank god something happened. I think i know how this happened too, or else its a WILD coincidence. Two nights before this fix, i was hawking my tailored goodies in bestine. Someone had bought (not from me thank god) a flesh coloured infil suit. This ''fellow'' was 300 lbs of hideousness and, while I was having a serious RP ''moment'' had this experience...
''Well, you misunderstand, my friend. The Emperor has our best interests at heart.''
fat naked man is seen running in from out of frame in the distance. He is screaming, ''STREAKER!'' he vanishes to left of screen
''No, the Empire is ruthless and these laws are obviously an attempt to increase their power at the expense of our rights!''
fat naked man reappears at left, now running the opposite way. ''STREAKER!!!!'' he vanishes to right of screen
''Well, my misguided friend, Im sure if you juts...what in heaven's name is that man DOING?!''

again, i say.... thank god.
How much children are playing with Barby and Ken? A toon with a fleshcolored bodysuit shows not more like this toys.
I had no fleshcolored one but a white and a black one, which looked very well dancing with them.
Now I look like I am covered with dried mud wearing a bodysuit.
And I dislike, that I have to throw away 2 bodysuits, two leggings and some skinsuits, cause a worng understood sense of shame and medieval views, and the fact that the designers were to boring or uninspired, to make them looking nice (what about stockings or pantihoselike skin for example, or just a darker color on the affected bodyparts?)
