Thread: How do you say no?
After all, this is a game... help me have fun playing the game, and that's worth more than credits!
I just had my first beggar yesterday -- I finally feel like a REAL tailor.![]()
I find that in general, though, my customers are very above-average, though from posts I read, it also sounds like my sales numbers are much lower than average (I get by financially by mining on the side). The weakest point in my business is my advertising abilities (or lack thereof), so most of my customer basecomes from the entertainers I hang out with (I've been a cantina regular since day one) and word of mouth from them. Since the people I know are generally the people I *choose* to know, I seem to have inadvertantly surrounded myself with literate, mature individuals who are more into role-playing than griefing.
The money isn't great, but I must say that I have a lot of fun being a tailor.
Just thought the thread could use another positive note

I've found that most tailors don't like to do math, so they have a straight-line equation for pricing. It appears that the common approach is 10*(number of resources). It cracks me up that they don't realize that this means they could be selling an item for LESS than it cost them to make it. I'm certainly not in the business of subsidizing someone else's wardrobe.
i love math... *duck* however, i got a bit tired of the calculating, even with the calculator. so i rounded everything up to the nearest 500 ![]()
i've been known to visit places yelling "free clothing for the mismatched!"

The only time I give free clothes is if I see some random person that has one item of clothes that totally ruins there outfit. Like all green outfit and such but a white belt or some such.
I normally try and "sell" them the item.... as in
Me: "Pardon me, but not to be rude. You're outfit is ruined by your white belt. I am a tailor and willing to help."
Player: "It's just clothes."
Me: "I'll tell you what... I'll make you a green belt to match and you tip me whatever you think I deserve. But you have to wear the belt because that white belt is an eyesore."
Player: "Ok."
Usually the player loves the new item and tips more than I would have charged for it. And if I don't get a tip.... oh well.... At least I don't have to look at a random person running around looking horrible.
My children learned it in the program called DARE.
Just say no.
Nope, nadda.
Samples in the store, in the vendor, prices are firm, I give customers freebies like shoes, belts etc.
Your not doing beggers any favors, they act like that in a game, they probably act like that in real life.
Work for it baby, I had to.
