Thread: **THE BIG LIST**
"Oh, and please don't use a line of stars like that to make a line in your post. Use
instead please, like I did above"
It was an accident. I was using it in notepad to help myself navigate throught the 50+ pages of notes I have about Tailoring. I reported my own post as soon as I did it, but apparently they have bigger fish to fry than to unbreak the width of the post. They used to fix stuff like that for us, but oh well =p
As far as the cloak thing goes... It was not me reporting an "opinion". Okay look - in beta, there was a cloak or robe that when equipped, could be worn without any bra or underwear. It was the naked cloak basically. Since someone brought it up here, I thought that maybe it wasnt really fixed. I could seriously CARE FRICKIN less if people are running around naked, but something like that is a *BUG*, and no matter how much I'd like torun aroundau-natural in my own house, Lucasarts and Sony could get in hot water for that.
Would I like to see more "sexy" clothing..? Heck yeah! But real sexy clothing, more skirts, more bikinis, not bugged items that let your boobs hang out.
In any case, I did my research about the cloak, and it seems not to be much more risque then an open rugged jacket. So its no big deal afterall. I just don't appreciate getting jumped on like I am the Prude Police. LOL
I do all this from work, (while I'm sposed to be working), so I can't check out anything in game during theday. But I have the same goals as everyone... make tailoring a butt-load of fun. So allI ask is that you're as courteous with me as you'd want us to be with you if you were in the same position.
Thanks,
Alichai
One more - Wookie Battle Padding gives GXP, not TXP. You just have the pallette problems on it.
Also, Cargo Pockets occasionally create containers instead of pockets - they're labeled as Components, but you can open them up and use them. They can't be used as components then. They're slightly useful this way, since you canput them inside regular packs, but it doesn't make much sense the way it is. But since it's not consistent, you can't make a lot of them or rely on them for making packs/bandoliers.
Speaking of which, why does a rank sash need a cargo pocket anyway? Just something to think about... ![]()
Don't back peddle on the the cloak issue now Alichai.
Alichai says "As far as the cloak thing goes... It was not me reporting an "opinion"."
When you
Don't back peddle on the cloak issue now Alichai
Alicia says, "As far as the cloak thing goes... It was not me reporting an "opinion"."
That was your opinion, plain and simple. Words such as "tacky" aren't exactly subjective. That blurb you wrote about the cloak reaked of bias. We all appreciate the tons of work you had to put in, (trust us, we do, that must have taken a really long time) but, when we read things like that the warning bells start to sound and we all get a little defensive. If it seems like people are jumping on you that's because they are if you look at it that way.Keep in mind that theythey do have that right to question you when those warning bells go off. Don't take it to heart. We all just have to work together to check ourselves.
On a another defensive note:
To StuffRules, Thank you so much for re-affirming your heterosexuality. I knowI was actually really concerned with that.Naturally, I mean this all sarcastically. That's justgetting to be a really big tailoring pet peeve of mine. Having somejerk comeup and ask me if I can make them an outfit that doesn't look"gay."I'm just going to start advertising mybutch line of clothing as"breeder friendly."
What I put in the LIST was "Cloak - Maybe should have a special rule for girls to have to wear shirts - pretty obscene O.o" - Because THATS what people told me.
If you are talking about me saying later that I find it a tacky thing to dance in.. yes I did, but that is NOT me REPORTING. That is me expressing an opinion to you guys that I find half the dancers in this game extremely uncreative and boring because they don't even attempt to be sexy, or wear high level clothing... they simply wear whatever junk shows the most skin - even if it's obviously an oversight/bug rather than an intended effect.
At one point one of these cloaks WOULD let you show full-frontal nudity, which is obviously above the rating of this game and a BUG. Whether or not it was fixed, I had no idea.
I can't personally check every one of the tips I get here, or I wouldhave no life, and would basically not be able to play the game
I check everything that I can, but I cant do it all.
If you want to quibble about something this STUPID when there are real issues on the table, like BE components, and the lack of scaling in xp at higher levels (or negative scaling even), then go ahead, but I am not some robot that can just brush off every critic and continue on my merry way. I am a normal player trying to help everyone have more fun.
I am NOT biased in my reporting. If I were, I would have sent in my report with five identical points of .. "Take away 6 boxes from anyone at master tailor because they all ground and used 100% factory xpto get there".
=P So NYah Nyah Leave me alone =P =p
don't let the trolls get you down.. You're doing a great job.
forgot to add... the best option here might be an option in the graphics to force the default "underwear" for this situation... a parental control sort of thing. That way, if it bothers you, make it so you don't see it.
Well you maturity has shined through with that last post Alichai, which is a shame since you've already put a large amount of work intohelping us already. My intent was to explain to you that we have to be objective about all things and that we should be able to handle criticism when it's tossed in our direction. You should not be offended and defensive if someone here has questioned one of your ideas or statements. You could have simply clarified or re-defined your first statement, but you didn't. Instead you entered into postal sparing with people who are supposed to be your peers. That's what forums are for, to challenge ideas and explore them. So I'll be back next month or whenever a new person is assigned to this positition because clearly you lack the maturity or objectivity that is required. The position requires a person that is critical of themselves not just others.
I think what Alichai meant is that she was reporting that some people find the cloak-without-a-shirt offensive, this is a perfectly fair thing to put into the clothing bug list because even if they decide not to change it they should be made aware of it. It's kind of her job to let them know things like this. I know I've come across several posts in the boards mentioning that people are offended by seeing the result ofa cloak without a shirt. It's a fairly safe assumption that the devs didn't intend to design the cloak as a way for female toons to appear topless. Therefore, it's a bug. A low priority one, I hope, but still belongs in the bugged clothing list.
The thing about cloaks without shirts being tacky on the other hand, is just her opinion. Despite the fact that she's our correspondant, she's still allowed to have one! She can have an opinion and express it without losing "objectivity." And actually, I think I prefer an opinionated correspondant to an "objective" one. At least we all know that the opinionated folks are really passionate about tailoring and really want to see our issues fixed. Sometimes I think there are some people just looking for any excuse to jump on Alichai, and it's sad. She's put a lot of time and effort into helping out our profession, and deserves respect from all of us for it.
Personally I'm not offended by the topless-under-jackets-or-the-cloak thing. I just think it's funny, strange, and a littlesad that people want their characters to look that way. It just lacks class. I think many of the entertainers are trying to get more tips, and maybe that works with the puberty set. But I know that whenever one of my friends spots someone with that look it sets off giggle-fest at the stupidity of it in our group chat. And their tips go to folks with more imaginative outfits.
Ah, I see what’s going on here. You thought that the cloak would show full-frontal nudity and thought you reported it as such. But taking that it doesn’t, is in fact fairly decent in my opinion, and then reading this statement:
"Cloak - Maybe should have a special rule for girls to have to wear shirts - pretty obscene O.o"
Can you see how that sounds like reporting an opinion as a bug? The only reason you list for why it should be censored is because you see it as “pretty obscene”. This is very much an opinion, for I don’t find it obscene at all. (In fact, I don’t find full-frontal nudity obscene either)
Also the solution you propose goes directly at what I think is the right way of dealing with the problem. If it is full-frontal nudity you wanted to fix then propose that they bring back the graphics to be in line with the other risqué clothing. Don’t limit people’s freedom because you find their behavior tacky.
As for the parental control switch, I think that is a great idea. When on always cover the risky parts and when turned off see other people as completely naked when they are not wearing any clothes. But I doubt they’ll ever put something like this one (which is a shame). No game ever has before (to my knowledge).
/sigh
Ah well, I think we’ve got this issue sorted now. It shouldn’t be on the list because it’s not a bug as you thought it was.
Whether you agree with people dressing like that, or even with being able to dress like that, is a different matter entirely and not something for a buglist.
