This (re: hats) is something I've remarked on frequently. I think "big" isn't so much the issue as "covers the hair." You'll note that all current headgear (unless there's some armor headpiece I don't know about - oddly, armor frequently follows different "rules" than comparable clothing items) covers the entire back of the head, including the hair. Since, across the various species, hair types and styles vary widely, as do head shapes, it'd be really tough to do something like the Imperial Hat and make it work across all the possible options. Even if you said it was Human-only, it'd still be tricky. How would you have it interact with, say, "Princess Leia Buns" hair, or that giant Afro? Even anything other than the really short-cropped male hairstyle would be tough, I think.

To any saying "but there's like three chefs per server", I think you're missing the point: this is a chef design pass, designed to make chefs useful and a viable profession. Ergo: MORE CHEFs. And one of the first things these new chefs are going to want is an appropriate outfit for their newly esteemed profession!

And let's not forget the crazy people that'll be carrying LLCs and striding around in a chef hat.

I'm glad to see any additions to our catalogue! I do have to agree that it's odd that we haven't seen some of the other items that exist in the game added to our craftable lists, though. And what about the Wookiee surprise coming up? Did I dream that?

More schematics are always a good thing. Period.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

I think the new schematics are great! Its actually a step in the right direction but like a lot of folks I kind of wonder if we are going to have to wait for every other class to be updated or fixed. I'm really pleased about the chef profession, I like seeing any class being updated and reworked to make them more viable.

As for getting our focused love a few months ago...uhmm...what love, exactly? We got one palette changed, be tissues fixed...and some very bugged things fixed. Our factories got fixed...they finally run right. These are things that should have been done anyway...and we still have bugged items, some of them our nicest items, such as the twi'lek noble crest...twi'lek males still can't wear them without a diaper affect. The BE fix was more for the BE's than for us and mostly because the BE's were screaming about it loudly.

I would be happy to have our leather palettes fixed and wookiee clothes that looked like something other than ewok leftovers. Ever try to dress a wookiee for a formal event? We need more functional clothing schematics that can be mixed and matched. Everything is rather boring at the moment. Folks come to me asking for unique looks and I kind of sit here thinking...nothing is unique, there are no new discoveries in clothing...nothing to really make folks stand out. I'm a good tailor, at least my customers say so, I have good ideas and a decent feel for how folks should look and want to look. We have a finite number of mixing and matching that can be done. There are only a few colors in our large palette that folks are interested in having and no matter how many different colors youmake things, they are still the same item.

I'm not being negative here, I'm actually rather hopeful that the devs have recognized that with the chef changes, comes the need to dress them. I also wonder if they will be fixing food items so they actually sit on a table so chefs can display them and not have them displayed on a floor. We shall see when the patch happens. I am hoping for the best.

I know what they should do. Make the chef items take 2 slots of 1 RFP each. Then everyone everywhere will be running around in the battle fields with chef outfits, rofl.

Welcome SirVimes! Glad the esteemed chef correspondent could join us. I'm glad the chefs are finally getting some love, but it still apalls me that the ONLY new schematic that we get since launch is one(s) that are for chefs. My brain just has a hard time grasping the logic behind that.

The really sad thing is, if we were to get say an officers hat (like the squad leader fellow proposed in this thread, an item which is *already in the game* in fact but we simply can't make or wear) instead of the chefs hat, I'd bet you anything more chefs would wear that then the chef hat (after all, they have other interests besides cheffing), and it would instantly be one of the top 5 most popular clothing items in the game, no question. So what do we get? A chefs hat, rofl, utter insanity.

well I'm a chef too, and if you want to really hear something sad...try this one:

chef revamp:

be gets new tissues ones for increasing duration, buff quality, etc, with varying levels
tailors get new schematics, chef hats x2, apron, shirt w/tie
scouts can now milk female mammals
artisan food effects released
chefs...don't worry you'll be happy when you see the new schematics...oh and we're adding another subcomponent to all drinks...sadly this is the most specific information chefs have been able to get from the devs...despite all the efforts of our might correspondent.

I really think that in order to get anything out of the devs...the least cared for professions MUST band together, and force the devs to actually explain their logic...

ok so all this was released as information for the chef revamp...and yet 4 professions are mentioned with very specific details...but the only chef specific info we get is...now we're gonna have to make yet another subcomponent for our drinks...yay

tailors getting new schematics is great...why you haven't gotten schematics for the clothing some of the npc's wear...not a clue...maybe wearing leia's slave skirt will instantly turn you into a bothan, and they haven't fixed the bug yet.

I know its a bit off topic but consider how much info chefs/DE's have gotten regarding our prospective revamps...weird how tailors get more specific info than chefs.

without the SWG Discussion forum...well there isn't any real place to rally together to beat down the whining pistoleers, and combat profs...who would probably like to see no dev attention as opposed to more nerfs.

and as SirVimes said...its because chefs have been whining for aprons since release that you guys are getting new schems...well at least the devs have done 1 thing chefs asked them to...

Actually, I saw some very detailed info on new Chef stuff (actually, the Artisan foods that are a precursor to the Chef stuff), and it looks quite intriguing! Should be findable in DevTracker....

True, but the implication (actually, I think it was *explicit* from the dev) is that the Chef stuff will be along similar functional lines, but even better.

I've read through the chef stuff, and to be honest and pretty unimpressed. Will it help existing chefs? certainly, and hopefully it'll make things more fun for them. Will it give back chefs the destinction of being the buffing class? nope, doctors and entertainers have a firm lock on that now imho. Will it make people flock to the chef profession? We'll see, but my guess is no, not in anysignificant way. We'll see what the actual chef food is like, but I just can't see people getting that excited about food that increases terrain navigation, incap times, and masked scent ability, particularly for the extremely short durations that chef food has and for the extremely extremely steep prices that chefs command.
