Snowleeper how much do you make per day? be honest .. as in income .. I don't care if you have maintence to pay or not.

Anyway, as snowleeper has said, most of you are greedy , but the point here is to try to maximize your profit anyway you can. If snowleeper's strategy is to have insanely low prices, and sell at a high volume that's a great idea. (assuming that crafting tons and tons of items per day is fun)

For myself, I prefer just to spend a couple hours to restock vendors and leave it at that. Thus my items are slightly over priced.

This isn't a accusation, so don't go nuts. But he told us to figure out how he is getting Resources for under 1c each... Two Words:

Actually, if you're running a harvester on a halfway decent concentration offiberplast, you're getting your resources for under 1cr each too.

I have my personal chem extractor on a 92% fiberplast. But the small extractors take to long. I can harvest 10 units per min manually(at a 90% concentration).

And you guys complaining about pricing, I just checked the Bazaar on Nashal, Talus(Kauri) and not 1 item of clothing was over 500 creds. I was shocked . At that point I just gave my packs to a few newbies I saw running around. So far it has given me 1.2k UXP from it so I'm not complaining.

I'm new the to the game, but how do entertainers gain their money. Do they get it just from tips? Or do they do what I do and have some fighting skill and go kill weak creatures? If its the latter, how can you justify charging so much for an item? Personally when I get up to master tailor I will probably give away a few outfits . And for those of you arguing about making a profit, I have 2 generators and 5 harvesters, it only takes me about an hour a day to go on missions to pay for them all, so its not that tough to stay afloat, granted I only have 90 creds on me .

Oh well, when I hit master I probably won't overcut but I will give stuff away, its just the way I am.

I would concur with you Captain. I'm just posting what other people in the Eclipse forum were saying when I spoke out about someone selling gunman's dusters for 1K.

Of course, I didn't have all the information and made assumptions, but the argument was valid.

Sorry bout the double post, but my last one was a little OT. I just wanted to add that comparing Tailoring to Weaponsmith or Armorsmith is totally ludicrous. These are HARD skills to master. Apparentlynoone herehasa clue as towhat these folks must go through to make their items. The number of different resources they need is daunting, and for them, quality DOES matter. All we need is Fiberplast, Polymer, Steel, and Copper. Any type, no matter the quality. When and ifSOE decides to make clothes degrade thiswill change. But right now, our profession is purely aesthetic. Justifying 15k for master items by comparing them to the other master crafted items makes no sense.

For example, when our schematic calls for 4 sheets of ident synth cloth, we just pull four sheets out of a crate. They, on the other hand, have to use 2 sheetsfrom2 seperate crates for their schematics. And they can't even make the crates. They are constantly looking for thoserare resources that are needed for their craft, and hoping that the stats are good cause if they're not, well then, they can't craft. Yes, Yes, I click my little exp button on Durability everytime, but it success doesn't make or break my item. I still sell it. Those of you who don't and think you're setting some kind of BAR by only selling 75%+Dur stuff are just kidding yourselves. Their is no way for the customer toknow this information and right now its pointless anyway. If SOE puts in Clothes degrading, then this will be a diff story, but for right now, I don't see myself ever selling anything forhigher than 8k max. If even that.

Talus is a whole different world. I get a lot of flack for supposed "undercutting", until I explain to people, and those who actually listen understand. Talus is an underpopulated planet. On my server, at least, you will rarely find more than 30 people in town at 7pm Saturday night in Nashal. Very few people live there and most of my non-order sales come from "transients" who are stopping on the planet to explore, hunt or look for resources. Everyone based in Nashal knows everyone else in town, we can all list the other crafters of every profession by name, and the list is short. The main reason - there are no town to town delivery missions on Talus. Medics and Entertainers can't keep above water if they try to live there. Some make a home in Dearic, but only a dedicated few stay there for long. In Nashal, we haveone master surgeon. If he's online, you get healed, if you don't you fly to Dearic (if you're lucky) or down to Corellia (more often). Or you can take your chances and spend a few hours waiting for a scout or fighter to come in who trained novice medic.

What this means in terms of my pricing? I regularly have sunguards, dusters, and cloaks (in all black, of course) go "auction unsuccessful" after a week, and this is at prices most of you would apparently strangle me for, though not as low as the 500 quoted above.

It's my choice to live there, and I'm hardly complaining. My choice is based on asthetics more than anything else. I like the planet, I like the hunting there, and I like the people who live there, because it takes a certain type to stick it out and run a crafting business in a ghost town. I still have more than enough business to stay ahead, but I have to figure my pricing with the idea in mind that most people coming to see me for an order are paying my price, plus a minimum of 1k credits for a round trip ticket from Corellia. Double that if they're anywhere else. Go ahead and charge 60k for an enhanced novice tailor cloak. Plenty of people on the big planets will pay it. It doesn't fly on Talus, the only medic in town already has one, though I sold it to him for a lot less than that since he's kind enough to keep me alive on hunting trips nearly every day

Till now people can **edit**load of money in short time as non master combat, basing on that I charge high prices on my master item. That easy. I made someone a 2.5k order, he tipped me another 5k on top just because. I made a 17k order for someone else, he payed me 25k instead of 17k, just because. Yay, tell me people dont have money, pffft.

And some of you are now trying to act as a samaritans and putting yourselfs in a disadvantage on purpose by going the 3x resource cost charging? Gimme a **edit**ing break.

I'm a wookie, and I took up tailoring because trying to explain what color I want my clothes is annoying, and I don't want to buy something I don't like, and the fact few tailors specifically cater to us large restricted clothing types =P On my server, there is little to no market for tailored items it seems, I know i rarely sell them unless they are dirt cheap. As it stands I rarely try to sell my clothes at this point as it's not worth it, but when I am skilling up and make a nice item I'll save it for the bazaar. And I do make clothes for friends at no charge..because I'm gonna burn the resources one way or another..so might as well make something someone can use. As for the economybeing flooded with credits, it's true, but that doesn't mean someone with a lot of credits is always gonna be willing to fork over 10k for something they can get for 5. I know I shop around and get the best price I can on most things I buy.

It's ok to have a "base" price list to work off of, but each server is going to be different. What sells for 2k on Bria, might be 200 on Lowca etcetc. There really is no way to set a price game wide for anything, it will never happen. You also have to take into account what the market is like on eachserver, it will always be different. If you want to base your prices off a standard list, and it works for you, then great! More power to you. But if someone comes along and does equally well selling cheaper then you, you have no reason to flame or berate them and tell them they are selling the "occupation" short. It is a business, and not everyone is going to see it "your way". If you are happy with your current set up and customer base/restock rate, then that's great, but don't tell other people they are wrong because they are happy doing it differently, in their own way.

As the tailor who makes the items, it is up to YOU to decide what your items are worth, not another tailor. If I want to sell my stuff for cheap or even give it away, then I will. If you want to sell your stuff for more.. you will. There is nothing wrong with that, it's the beauty of a free market.

To make 50% profit(charging 6 credits per unit)on investment which is WAY more than any retail chain I know

I'm not a retailer. I mine most of my own raw materials. I produce my own cloth and components. I do design and final assembly. I then retail the result. Nobody in the real world does what we do. We essentially start out with producing the chemicals that go to the nylon factory and do it all in our backyard and basement (SWG must be an environmentalists nightmare--backyard oil wells and plastic factories?!).

There are merchants who are doing reselling and they are the ones tacking on the 20%-50% to the price--the price of a final finished product.

If I sell one duster at 10k, I can buy 20 dusters priced at 500 and resell them or destroy them, depending on my whim.

If y'all want to be my production serfs, keep underselling. I can always use more sweatshop slaves.
