Wow, I wish it was like that on Chilastra

For some reason it seems like tailors and BE's on Corbantis are both extremely rare and I can't figure out what happened. I'm sure the holocrap grind has something to do with it though.

Nah, don't be so modest Werdup, you've done a fine job of that. You can pretend to know something about me and comment on my parenting abilities, or make any other silly assumptions or personal attacks about me you like (some suggested redicules would be on my non-existant golf game or my horrible singing voice), but you might want to take a step back and look at yourself first. You realize that all this effort you are making is in support of a self proclaimed troll do you not?

And as far as all that silly stuff that Deuce is preaching. Hmm, gee, I spend x amount of time making clothing each night, and I sell pretty much everything I make. So I could decrease my margins, and increase my volume, that way I could spend more time crafting, make the same amount, and have less time to do other things (both in-game and in RL). Wohoo! what a wonderful idea.

I totally agree with this statement.

I have been a master tailor on eclipse since the 2nd week it went live, and I was a Master Tailor during beta so I have a bit of experience.

I have vendors in 4 malls and a shop of my own in a awsome location, I keep around 500-600 items on each (or try to) at all times, I have a huge varity and imaginative color combos that I havent seen anywhere else on my server.

I play alot, I am constantly making stuff and stocking and relisting. I ama bit lower than some of the other tailors on my server but not by much and im no where near the lowest priced. I have my most expencive items at 6k my cheapest at 500cr. I am known for my color style, my prices and my huge selection. This all makes me stand out from alot of other tailors.

I make alot of money, a ton. (this is not counting the multi millions I make selling the new schematic stuff)

But if I had lower prices I would not be able to keep my vendors stocked and my standards would have to be way lowered.

I would never make the money I make now if I did what Deuce states I should do. The majority of my customer base is repeat customers and word of mouth. They come to me because they like what I have to offer. There are lots of cheaper tailors on my server but the majority dont know how to stock their vendors right and use crappy colors. Crappy colors don't sell. I have regular customers dropping 100k to 500k all the time on whole new wardrobes. I made 100k from one customer tonight for 20 minutes work. I have one customer who will spend 300-500k a visit about every 2 weeks since she likes to change her look alot, i've noticed she resells my stuff on the bazaar when she's done with it. I'm fine with that as it gets me more name recognition and her business. Then I have my regular sales from my mall vendors. When I'm lazy I make about 900k a week from my sales, when I actually keep stocked up to my standards I make 1.5 to 2 mill a week. Lazy=Me stocking big time every 3 weeks or so and NotLazy=Stocking every week.

I dont do alot of custom orders becuase I'm still burned out from when I first got tailor I only do it for a certian type of customer. i.e easy going people who arnt picky as hell, have a good idea of what there is to offer, are very friendly and are going to spend some money. (/waves to ShoeGirl hehe)

I dont offer anything below 500cr and most stuff is 1k and up. If I get a newbie who needs a new set of clothes to get out of their starter clothes, I don't sell cheap, I give them a set usually for free. I get them hooked and they come back every time. I explain to them I'm like a drug dealer in that way

but bottom line, I want to stay High Fashion for a reasonable price.. I dont want to be freaking WallMart selling ugly crap in polyester plaids to every tom **edit** and harry.

I think Deuce actually does have a few reasonable points that are getting lost in his sweeping generalizations and unnecessarily belligerent tone:

"If tailors dont want to generate discount lines to supply the poor, what can be done so the newbie has at least some choice beyond the stuff put on bazaars by hologrinders?"

I *do* think it makes good business sense to have a fair amount of lower-priced items for sale. (Or at least for *some* tailors to do so - there are a lot of different ways to go in this business.) Most of my "first box" (i.e., Casual Wear I, Field Wear I, etc.) items are priced at 500 credits or less, and people can put together an attractive new look from clothing on my vendor for under 3000 credits. But if you're saying I should be selling Gunman's Dusters and flightsuits and Exoptic Lepotards for 500 credits... well, I have to disagree with you there....

While master tailors like me tend to make the high end, bright coloured items and +25 BE items, there are lots of novice tailors and artisans that are still working on getting ahead. They can factory produce tons of shoes, pants, soft undershirts, ribbed shirts, etc. The UXP system is often overlooked by them though. Factory produce synth cloth may only gain you a miniscule amount of xp, but you get alot if another tailor uses it to make clothes with.

To be fair Arthur.... Deuce is saying you would use the same time and get the same profits, but use no vendorswith his change... but the world would be a bleak sea of black ... striped pants and soft undershirts being factory made and sold for dirt cheap prices to people that are probably more rare then jedi.

How often do we get new people in the game? Hmmm, the influx of new blood has trickled to a slow iv drip, where once it was a faucet. We had 300k accounts at one time. Now we are simmering at 100k active accounts and dropping. Perhaps with the space expansion things might increase.

Thomas Edison created his phongraph and marketted it as an office memo maker. For over a decade he refused to accept the idea that it was a music machine until he finally accepted it. The idea of a mass market for cheap disposable clothing is not a bad idea. It just doesn't have a market. Setting this up for Christmas might have been a better time, when new accounts were on the rise.

Isn't that why it would be expensive and not cheap?

Look around! All the essentials are cheap. It's the luxury items that cost a pretty penny.
