I tend to agree that selection is realy important with tailors. You can have the best location but still not have customers if the vendors look picked over. I stock almost every day and sales have been slower right after JTL started but are back on track now. And the same with pricing I think just low prices won't bring them in. I sell a lot of BE wear but I make sure to buy the best tissue when available and to have nice selection of each item. Now people may say that BE items with Cover protection do not sell but I make sure to have it too for that one player that needs it. The same goes for items that use 5 and 6 BE tissues. I make few and put them on the vendor and they sell well.

I do have shop in S. Coronet and just opened one on Tatooine in my guilds city. It doesn't have as much as in S. Coronet and no BE wear but it had sales daily since opening and most of the sales were not to guild members.

I find it hard to believe that ALL the shops are outside of Coronet, but I suppose I could be wrong.

You don't HAVE to be south of Coronet, it just seems that way, and when I ask people on Wanderhome what they suggest, everyone and their mother suggests moving to south of Coronet.

When I made my shop near Theed, it wasn't the biggest shopping area. I would say most of the Sunrunner shopping is focused in the Coronet area as well. I picked Theed areafor my shopbecause when I first started playing I spent all my time in Theed, it has easy access to Lok, and it wasn't over crowded like Coronet. Theed also has that awesome starport, that makes it easy to shuttle to any of the cities. There's a few well known crafters on Nabooso that also helps out. Since then, more people have started making a move out of thecrowded Coronet area, beacusethere's so many people there.

You would think Theed would be the best place for all this (instant shuttle etc), but Coronet is the busy city on Wanderhome. Yes, there are a few player cities that have shops which do well. There's an awesome Armorsmith on Dantooine I frequent, and not to forget The Consortia on Lok. There is however a mass of structures (prolly 200+) south of Coronet that are just there as shops. If you can't find what you want there at the price you want, then you didn't visit every shop.

It also turns out that I somehow ended up in one of the most competitive tailor areas on my server. I think the some of the biggest reasons why I make moneyare 1) I have a large stock 2) I stock a lot of colors 3) my shop has a decent location 4) I havea prettyshop, it makes the customers want to buy clothing. I share my shop with some guildies, but I made them put their vendors in the hall. I get the big circular room and it's devoted to clothing. 5) I color code and label all my clothing for easy matching. 6) nobody else seems to display and sell Star Wars outfits.

1) I used to till last week's accident
2) see above
3) Hmm, player city on Naboo (people say "Ugh, Naboo?")

4) I decorate nicely I think, I share with guildies (not too many)

5) Extremely Revealing Skirt +15 Dance/Music Heal - White(43) ::Mr. Okie::

(not exact, but usually something like this, including a color code from here

6) I tried this for a bit, I also sell extremely low encumbrance armor as clothing (started doing this a week ago)

I wouldn't go for the low pricing. Credits mean nothing to most people. The best crafters on my server can just jack up prices because they have a good name! I used to buy 20k enhanced clothing, because I actually found purple cammos and not because they had mask scent. That doesn't mean you have to charge an arm and a leg for everything, but it doesn't hurt to have some low priced items for newbies and higher end items for everyone else. I don't believe in charging by cpu, the time I spend crafting and stocking is worth more than the cpu.

I used to use the pricing guide and charge per resources, but it ended up being a hastle. I don't play this game for a living, so stocking 100 items and looking up the price for each item is not my idea of fun. 500 credits each except for BE and special loot. I know price means little to most, but having low prices cannot hurt me. I'm not in this for the money

Maybe it has to do with the mall? Is the mall overwhelming? I'm not a big fan of mall shopping. If there's too many vendors, unless I came for a specific crafter, I'm not going to stay in the mall. People may also not feel like browsing for clothes after spending a 1/2 hour browsing for food, weapons, armor, etc. How many vendors are in the mall and how many tailor vendors do you have in the mall? Are your vendors on the map? Are they separated by what they sell and well stocked?

It's not overloaded. It's very well laid out and I have my vendors on the far wall that you see as you enter. I used to have 8 vendors just for tailor, but this week as my stock got deleted by mistake and I was frustrated that I wasn't selling, I dropped it down to 4 tailor vendors (5 if you include the Armor as Clothing vendor). All my vendors are on the map. Regardless of how I had them set up, what they wear, how they smell, if they barked, if they were sexy, if they were ugly, if they wore black and white, if they wore bright pink, I still got no business.

Anyways, I know I know nothing of the economies of other servers. My tailor is my alt character. I mastered and started setting up my shop in 2 weeks. I've been working on it for about 4 or 5 months maybe more...I think it only took me about a month to make back all the money my main gave my alt to get started. Sunrunner has a lot of well established tailors that have loyal customers. I think I was able to get my own little piece of the market for the reasons that I stated above. I'm not sure if it would work on other servers, but that's what worked for me.

This is what is puzzling me. It should work, I have tried seemingly everything except going into business with a top tailor like Cadina. People do come into the mall, not like Coronet, but if I sit there for 5 hours, I'll see maybe 20 people come in who are there to shop.

It should work, I should be selling, but no matter what I have tried I don't. It's not that people hate me, I get welcomed by people wherever I go. I'm not frustrated cos I'm not getting rich. I'm already rich, hell I wear RIS armor just so I look different, it's just frustration from no matter what I do, no matter how hard I try or what I try to supply, people just aren't interested. They want to go to Cadina or to Coronet and pay 2-5 times as much for the same stuff. I'm always Johnny on the Spot for custom orders, which nobody takes advantage of. I can sit in the Theed cantina with my Master tag on, and people leave the cantina to go elsewhere to buy the new skirt or whatever.

I'm at a loss to explain it.

Yea. I've tried to change my look a few times and everyone complains and tells me I should go back! I think I must be the only master tailor out there who doesn't change clothes all the time (I just have Grand Ball gowns in different colors).

You look so cute in the pigtails and ball gowns though

Its sort of my trademark. Maybe they don't remember the name Momoko, but everyone knows the tailor with the pigtails and grand ball gown.
