Thread: Tailoring The Dying Profession!
The title of this post just cracked me up! I can't stop laughing!
I still enjoy tailoring and I think it's hogwash that its a dying profession.
I did have a good chuckle though.
*hugs*
At 6 cr per an infilitration suit should cost 2940 cr i believe and if i sell it for 4k thats 1000 bucks i just made as a bonus for my service.
I just with i had more interaction with other tailors in game seems the only people i ever actually talk to are my cousin , a few RL friends and a swell architect.
Enough posting time to go play 8-)
Alciril and Kylania--I agree with you both (as usual!!)
I am on Alciril's server and I have visited hers and 3 other tailors on her planet, Corellia.
Iam on Tatooine, and have visited 5 other tailors there.
One quite close to me on Tatooine is charging outrageously high prices IMO (1000 credits for a basic like striped pants). She is in a popular guild and overt imperial however, so I have no doubt she does good buisness with her clientele.
One tailor on Corellia is charging outrageously low prices (1000 credits for a Grand Healer's Robe). This person will soon find themselves out of buisness, which is sad considering the effort he/she put into getting Master Tailor.
The rest of us are all in the ballpark more or less. I charge a bit less than Alciril for a flight suit, but then she charges less for some of her dresses. Pricing is all relative, and while I have been sorely tempted to lower my prices during this economic crisis, I have reminded myself that I put in HOURS AND HOURS of time getting to Master Tailor, maintaining my store, stocking it with the 300+ items in it, merchandising regularly, and paying the cost of my harvesters, factory, etc. Not to mention the custom order routine, which I enjoy but is time consuming.
I think I'm worth the cost...and many others do to.
Have some pride in your craft and your time in game and don't sell yourself short. When there were no high level tailors on the server, I remember people sending me tells asking me "u make dusters yet? i will pay u 10k for one"...and that was probably 10 times a day I got that. So remember that WE control the prices..and people will pay what they have to in order to get their merchandise.
Not that I am for price gouging....5k-10k is fair on any server for Master Tailor items. But only if you stay within a ballpark price range can you expect to make profit---or friends
