Wow, sounds like a lot of tailors are BE's already. I made up my mind the other day to be a BE and just go up the tissuing line so that I can make all the components myself. /shrug Is this difficult to do?

As far as pricing, I'm not sure how to go about it. All servers seems to be different economy-wise. I will probably wait to see how much the BE's will charge for their crates or their price per component and try to work around that.

I will definelty charge per component that is placed PLUS the original cost of the item that they want it in.

Jen,

shhh... don't tell the BE's but for those of us that have managed the tailor-grind, the BE tree is a pure cakewalk by comparison, lol. If you have money and contacts to aquire the meat you'll need, you'll find it easy. The hardest thing for me is making the tough choices and sacrifices skill-point-wise to allow the tailor/be combo.Don't forget that for your tissues to be worth a darn you'll need to go up both tissues and experimentation branches of the BE tree. Otherwise you'll be stuck making +2 "newbie" tissues that nobody will want, lol.

I am a tailor and have justcome to the shocking realisationthat the BE value to this process is more important than my own. Does this worry anyone?

I spent a long time grinding to master, but since these clothes will be sold on function and not style, it appears anyone with the ability to sew some BE mods into cloth and snap out a simple garment will be able to sell as high as anyone else. I am even considering dropping levels as it makes no difference at all.

A novice tailor + master BE can make a superior product to a master tailor + novice BE. That's bad news for me.

Problem is, there are only a few master BEs on my server, and more master tailors than I care to imagine. Without those mods, my clothing market is going to continue to decline. I will pay a BE anything he or she wants. I think 80% of the value of the finished product would be reasonable for me considering I would get nothing without the BE product. I am currently paying an average of $10K per sample, but will go as high as $20K for a good quality mod as I figure I wll be able to sell the garments over this price.

Just for those worrying about the 20k prices, if I recall the discussion correctly, 20k is more for the uber rare resource tissues (milk, fish, etc.). I plan on selling tissues (initially) for 2k/tier in BE(since I'm one of about 4 BE's on my server) until demand goes down (novice would sell for 1k). Once I can keep up with demand, then I plan on dropping prices to 1k/tier (500/novice). The 20k/tissue prices are for the ones that require fish (maybe15k for eggs). Milk andmollusks are resources that I can't even get, so won't even be able to make them to see what they do.

Just thought I'd point this out to clear up a little bit of the panic about 20k tissues being standard (although I understand 10k is pretty pricey too but you can understand due to the HUGE damand that us 4 BEs on the server will have).

Even as a bio-engineer, I agree with you that this doesn't sound right. Maybe something like a Tailor has to have such a high level in a tier (or 2) to use certain tissues. That would seem more reasonable. However, that's another discussion for you guys to have in another thread (and please don't be too mean to us BEs in that discussion).

Dang Tab key

I've been noticing ALOT more BE's on our server lately. Either that or i seem to run into the same folks alot. My RL hubby is a BE/CH who hasn't done much with BE lately, but is looking forward to supplying me with tissues for clothing and food.

FYI, reporting from BE forums - the general consensus appears to beto charge 50% of sale price on BE garments. In fact, many BEs already have this kind of agreement in place.A 2nd, but less attractive alternative, is to spend 20 skill points and afew hours grinding to novice tailor and making the synth panels etc themselves. As most are already artisans,I expect this will be a fast and ultimately more profitable option for those BEs with points to spare.

I disagree, as a tailor/be without the skill points available to master both, after carefully considering the alternatives have chosen to master tailornot BE, because I perceive greater value there. Also, as an avid reader of the BE forum, they whine about just the opposite. Namely that they are at the mercy of tailors since they are simply a "supplier" and cannot sell tissues to the end user directly. Their products are going to become very much a commodity, and price will be everything, whereas for a tailor it is still all about service, style, and convenience.

Think of it this way: if you're a dancer and wantto blow your whole wad on a garmentthat will greatly increase your healing power, you'd better be DARN sure it's something you REALLY like. If I was such a dancer, I'd much rather buy a master-level piece of clothing with a lower bonus, then a lowever level piece of clothing that perhaps I have some reservations about style-wisewith a higher bonus. Simply because I'm gonna have to live with that garment for a while.

I'm quite sure, my sales of BE enhanced clothing for the foreseeable future are largely going to be people coming to me for a nice looking outfit, and me breaking out the snake oil and trying to sell them on adding BE bonuses to what they've already decided they want, rather than people coming to me and saying "gimme something that adds +10 to my mask scent". We'll see, I could be wrong, but that's what I'm banking on.

For the folks worrying about the low number of BEs, I'm guessing that as the profession gets fixed and made profitable, more people will get into it. I know quite a few people who had planned on taking BE but decided against it once they learned how many problems it has. So I bet many of them will reconsider that decision as they get tired of their current professions.

I expect to see a ton more BEs enter the field, however - I am REAL glad I got in and mastered early cause they raised the XP bar substantially since release.

It's a LOT harder now than it used to be to level up - and it was never easy.
