Thread: Letting Your Shop Go...

I feel your pain. I'm torn whether or not to keep my tailor's shops up and running. I was convinced that Gaiya was going into retirement, but then when I logged her on the other day, I got a really fun customer (we worked on his outfit for almost an hour) and it made me realize how much I'd miss it if I closed shop. Not to mention all the hard work I put into it, and the fact that my tailor is actually making a name for herself. I still haven't decided what to do.

Gah, I know what you're going through. I just couldn't keep up with the volume of sales either. I'd spend at least two hours a day creating and relisting items and it got to the point where I just had to take a break from it all. I put up a vacation note on my store's signpost and am letting the inventory dwindle down.

Just give it time and relax! You'll start enjoying things again when the game doesn't seem like a chore.

When I redo my shop, I'm definitely rethinking my pricing. I want to hopefully break down all items into 4-5 price groups, and that's it. Period. Done. Kthxbye. Probably something like 1000, 3000, 5000, 8000, and 10000. Seems appealing, right?

ive did exactly that Njessi, about 3 months ago i changed my prices on regular clothing to 2k / 5k / 10k / 15k

restocking 200 or so vendor emails at once while also looking up the correct price is a no no.

Tailoring life has been real slow. Not sure where all the customers went. I decided to pick up marksman for Amelia in the meantime. I hate getting resources and doing factory runs and such, so I am taking a break till stuff starts to sell again. I used to log on to pages of sold emails. Ah the good ol days

Ack...I didn't check things for 3 days and over 500 items expired! I really blame SOE for making merchantso much WORK. It's a game, but when I spend over an hour hitting relist (and I still have about 200 more to do tomorrow), that's not fun! I would think at this point sales would have decreased, because I haven't restocked all month, but they're still going strong! Must be the holiday season.

It is work! I would always dread that one weekend a month where I would be sequestered in my shop relisting. I mean, how on earth is that fun? I understand that for *most* professions, if any given item doesn't sell in 30 days, you have a problem, but not so with tailoring. Light purple could be a no-go for months and then someone comes in and buys out the entire light purple selection. Some would say "stock what sells" but don't you feel bad about giving people an option to look like 1337 d00ds only?

(starts whispering when she realizes a red dot is stalking the shop) Eep I gotta go

I think that the restocking options stink for all professions. Sure tailors probably have the largest number of schematics and customization options, but if everyone carried what sells that would make for one boring economy. I already have trouble as it is finding lower level weapons for when I switch combat professions. I was a big fan of accagram, a food that buffed action, when I was a dancer. I doubt many people use that.

Onecould say stock what sells or make the argument that it's like that irl blah blah blah. Actually nevermind the real life arugement. I used to work at the United Colors of Benetton, and once a month all the clothing did not fall off the shelves and fly into the stockroom! When it comes down to it...this is a game pure and simple. I doubt anyone enjoys restocking. When there's elements in the game that are time consuming and not fun, that's something the devs need to look at, even if it takes over ayear *cough* shuttles *cough*.

Re-listing is deffinatly a pain.

Mine is usually spread over a week though, and it spreads out over the months you play. Eventually it spreads out so much you just relist50+items daily, but never have a big load at once.

However since i just restarted in 3 weeks time il start having around 2000 items to relist over the week

I actually find it easier to do one big relist than to remember what lists for what price every day. But it's a matter of personal preference.

I think that's what I hate the most about running the vendors. Trucking along, doing whatever, and suddenly "dee-doo-ee...dee-doo-ee...dee-doo-ee..." I wish they'd wait a couple minutes and merge them all together like plopping down harvesters does.

I've been busy working on that second character slot for a long time, so my clothing vendor has felt some serious neglect. I do try to keep the crate vendor packed full, though. It's much easier to work with.

Even when I was Tailoring full-time, running the vendor was never the fun part. Working with people to make cool outfits is where all the fun is.
