I had a guy send me a tell asking me to make him some pants and a shirt. I was in the village defending from the EVIL sith, so I told him, if you want to come to me, I can make them...
He actually did, and waited through the whole wave of siths, just for a pair of pants that any tailor could have made. He also wasn't force sensitive, so he had to wait in creepy fog for about 20 minutes.
I seem to get the mainly good customers. If they want something delivered and I'm busy, I'll tell them where I am, or tell them I might log on in a few days if they want to try me then. Most will come to me, since it appears master tailors are either getting really good at hiding, or they are all gone except for me.
I've even had customers waiting for me to come back after they see my 3 yr old 'driving' my tailor around and typing gibberish. The funny ones are when i'll come check on her, and she has 2 people chasing her, trying to talk to her to get some clothes made. I've also told people sometimes that she likes to pick colors and clothes, and they will let her dress them. So far she's done pretty good with colors and matching.

*gol* As in, "giggle out loud" and I just did for real. That's great, I love it!
I've never had a request for clothing delivery. Haven't been in the business too long yet though, and I'm not yet Master, so I'm sure those... rites of passage... are yet to come. When that happens though, I'm hoping to be a Mayor of my own town, and can pay a newer player to deliver them, which I would have the customer reimburse.
If no new players are available and I'm busy, a simple "sorry, but no" would have to suffice.
If no new players are available and I'm not busy, I generally wouldn't mind making the delivery myself. I like just generally running around the galaxy looking at new and interesting places, and I've developed a new love for screenshots.
But if they're being rude I'll just ignore them.

Since I don't do custom tailoring too often, I don't mind meeting them...as long as it's a compromise. I handle the whole thing through mails, letting them know when it's done and that I can meet them (it might take a day or so to get the order done). Then we compromise on where to meet (as long as it's one of the big NPC cities, with a starport). So far this hasn't been a problem, and I think I've actually been pretty lucky so far with customers not making crazy demands of me. I'm just waiting for the day that it happens
Mostly my custom order customers have been guildies (one in particular...my best customer
), or have been recommended to me, soI get treated well enough.
There are those few times though...that I really, really, don't feel like being bugged. That's when I tack on a service charge.

This is why I keep a really well-stocked vendor and then disappear into the night, like batman. Then the smacktards can talk back to the vendor all they want
She's a sneaky n'Jessi. Oh, I spent a few hours finishing the decorating in my Dojo last night, so I may need to kidnap you sometime soon to come see it.
I don't have a vendor, and people who know me also know that I'll log on my tailor and make them stuff if I'm not busy. It's usually just friends that ask, so they aren't bothered by me saying "Busy right now, ask later."
I do occasionally get random tells from people who have bought my stuff from somewhere, or get my name off other people. If I'm on Fi I'll usually be happy to help them, but sometimes it can be annoying when I've just nipped on her to make something quickly or train somebody.

So, I'm sat at work and bored, and I just remembered a story that gave me a giggle.
I'm on my tailor character and hanging out in the town cantina, making clothes for guildmates. I get a tell off a random person who's heard of me and wants me to make him something. I say sure, tell him where I am, and he comes along. Says that he wants something for his girl, and she needs shoes in "raspberry purple." I ask if he has something to match it to, of course he doesn't.
Do over groupchat i'm asking everyone if they know what raspberry purple is. Nobody does. I take a stab at it, make him a pair of shoes in a pinkish purple. He has no idea.
Next day the same guy comes back. Brings me a skirt this time, in the brightest purple. I comment, "I've never seen a raspberry that colour."
Then of course there was the bright orange twi'lek guy with green markings that wanted me to make him look good. I think I ended up with a dress uniform jacket with shirt and pants, but it got a lot of grimacing off my friends.
