Thread: Tailors: We really need to start being more vocal
I wish I could be as forgiving as Rand and Akara, but I can't. The fact of the matter is, is that the devs have a finite amout of things that they can work on, and over the last year, it's all been about combat. And if you look at the stuff coming in the future, as far out as we can see, it's also all about combat. This attitude and message was heard loud and clear at fanfest. Ask anyone who was there.
My observation is that pvp imbalance tweaks seem to take #1 priority above all else except for possibly server stability issues (that actually keep the game running). Game breakers for a lot of professions have been ignored, including the "too far away" thing, the myriad of really awful droid bugs, the fact that you can't advance (at all) in the trapping lines of scout and ranger, etc.
Saying that their priorities are dictated by the number of players effected, and that tailor or these other professions are "niche"is a self-fulfilling prophecy, because if you neglect any profession for long enough, it shrivels and dies. A year ago, J3di was a nich profession, but certainly not anymore.
I don't condone PM-spamming because I think all you'll end up doing is cheesing off whomever you are pm-ing and getting yourself banned, but voicing your displeasure in other ways, like on this forum, I see as a fairly healthy way to burn off some steam.
In the end, each of us has to make up our own decision where our breaking point is. Mine was the BE tissues and latest round of droid problems, all of which were reported through proper chanels, reproduceable, but still pushed to live just so we could have one less button click while crafting, or another respec token. I'll be cancelling my crafter account right after the 4th of July if these thingsis not fixed by then. That's my way of dealing with this issue, and even if they are fixed I'll be playing this game a lot less, because I now understand what the future of this game looks like, and it aint pretty for the non-combat types.

That would really be sad. One of the things that drew me to this game was the very fact that I could do something passive while my combat motivated friends did their thing , we could still chat, I could tag along with them if I chose (not so easy with CU.. gee thanks), and feel like I was still contributing to a PLAYER based economy. Sure, in some ways this is a glorified chat room to me, but hey, that's how I want to play it at this point in my life. But I am not going to pay and log on to just sit and chat; and I have no desire to move to combat or medical.
Like Arthur.. if things don't get better, I will have only that option and quitting. And just why would I want to toss my money to a company that shows no regard for it's customers? I would love to find out just how these decisions about what to add/fix/remove from the game are decided... it feels like little logic is going into them... so cannot be the prgrammers... most of us think logically
At this point, with the bugs, I am still doing ok - I sell quite a lot of fashion items. I will have to hand make the 60 skirts to be used as draperies tonight because the factory won't make them red, like the customer ordered... but since I cannot accept any bio orders, this will give me something to do (and I probably will avoid cherry red for a couple weeks after this
for tailors who specialize in bio clothes, or do a lot more factory work, this is game breaking. /hugs to us all - this sucks and it sucks more because it adds injury to insult with previous non fixed bugs.
Having said that, I have currently received no response and will take my bitter pill like a good drone.
I'm planning on starting a tailor within the next month or so and if there's anything I can do I would like to help make this profession just as fun, exciting and useful as any of the others. There's no reason why any profession should fall to the wayside and in essence be dropped. I like this game becasue it's so compicated and large and I want to see more of that with professions that allow personal satisfaction as well as satisfaction to customers.

Funny you should mention this... I was JUST looking through the combat professions to see which path I wanted to take for my new character. Guess what... most of the combat professions have their share of problems too. So don't even tell me that combat professions would have been instantly fixed because it just isn't true. Ask a commando, ranger, smuggler or CH what they think?
psst.... By developer definition, ranger and creature handler are not combat class.
I was in the alpha reading group (we never tested a single thing) and every time a ranger or CH issue came up we were told they are outside the scope of the combat upgrade.
Smuggler has needed some loving for a long time but their game isn't broken. Commando has issues but their game isn't broken either. Yes, you can craft pants and shirts and dresses but what good are they to me? I can walk around in my underwear and havejust as much protection as you provide at this very moment with your clothing. If that isn't broken I don't know what is.
I don't disagree that PM'ing a developer might cause problems and possibly get you bannedbut I'm sorry, I spit out my coffee laughing when I read your recommendation to post to the bug thread. Tiggs creates a new thread every day. Every day the same bugs get posted to the thread. Every day the thread is deleted and a new thread is created. Talk about a HUGE waste of time and effort.
What I did, and you choose to make your statement anyway you decide is best for you, is to cancel the account of my alt. I didn't delete the character. I just no longer pay the monthly fee for a broken profession. When the profession is fixed I'll renew the subscription. I know the character will be there when I renew, if I renew. I've done this before and I've lost nothing in the process. I've saved myself acouple of monthly fees. Of course some of you may have a prepaid subscription for a period of time so this option is not viable to you. Regardless, money speaks louder than anything else you can possible do.
As for now I stick to playing my main, who is a creature handler by the way, and yes we have issues but our game isn't broken.
Still think biding our time is going to get this fixed?
