I don't think any amount of ranged/melee defense does anything, regardless if it's a bonus or just your base skill value. I've had 0 ranged defense and i get hit 70% of the time and i've had 315 ranged defense with clothing and i get hit 70% of the time. Doesn't mean a thing.

as for everything else, i don't know what works and what doesn't, i'd be interested to test it on terrain negotiation (since we know that motha f'n skill actually does something!)

someone should go get terrain clothing and test it with 25 then test it with +60
