Thread: Need to change my way of playing: thoughts, comments, or advice?

is embarrassing how many times I’ve been eaten by chupas in this game. Browsing around, I think it is because I’m using a rifle at the wrong range, so they swarm me before I can kill the nest. I keep passing the brawling trainer on the way out of the cloning facility. One of these days I’m going sign up.
Quick and dirty guide to destroy missions:
1. Pick a mission without 'social' guardians. Capper spineflaps will swarm you if you shoot one of them, but chubas won't. Note that baby creatures will sometimes rush to defend a parent, even if the creatures are normally non-social (this code appears to be backwards).
2. When you reach the target, pick off the initial guardians one by one. If you're trained in rifle, do this from a distance. The kneeling posture gives you an aiming bonus and is easy to get up from if you need to run. Creatures will also not immediately home in on you if you're kneeling or prone.
3. Once you've killed the initial guardians, take one shot at the lair and then immediately "peace" out of combat. Wait for more guardians to spawn. If you stopped shooting after one shot, they shouldn't be aggresive towards you.
4. Rinse and repeat until the lair stops spawning guardians, then blow it up. Watch your HAM bars and rest as needed.
5. If you don't have novice scout, get it. You can beef up your supply of hides while you earn money with destroy missions, killing two birds with one stone. You can also heal your wounds by camping, which integrates well with survey sampling.
It takes a little time to do it this way, but since you're gaining resources along the way, it shouldn't be too painful.

Wear the best outfit you can make and you double as your own walking billboard
I've tried auctions in all the cities on Naboo. Theed and Moenia seem to be the best. On Radiant, Deeja Peaks and the Lake Retreat are ghost towns.
I do wear the best clothes I can, but as a Wookie, my choices are pretty limited. I'd like to wear a pure white oufit to set off my fur, but I'd also like a real red and a real black. Wish in one hand . . .
Thanks for the ideas!

I'm picturing my wookie trying to dance in a cantina . . . . Not a pretty picture. 8)
Seriously though, thanks for the thoughts. If a couple field packs sell today, I'm off to Tatooine in the morning. Maybe I'll like it and stay for a while.
I've only recently taken to grinding, but have come up with a few strategies for it. First and formost is: DON'T WASTE TIME. Any sort of downtime can be used for this purpose. Waiting for a shuttle and no one else is around to RP with? Perfect time to crank out a few items. Running about 1 or 2k in a straight line (say from your house to the main city?) - set your waypoint, head straight for it, hit the numlock key to auto-run and start grinding. It takes about 5 min or so to cover that distance and in this time you can make 10-15 items.
That having been said, I don't really recommend the grind unless you're only a few thousand xp away from a skill box. Not only doesgrinding hurt your wrist but it's duller than all get-out. Hang out in the cantinas and RP with potential customers. You are selling yourself far more than you are selling clothes. Once you build up a good relationship with your customer base, the business (and XP) will come to you.
Hi Beccamit!
I've seen you around Moenia.
I, too, am a tailor. I am not quite a master tailor, but swiftly approaching it. I share some of your experiences and frustrations. Let me tell you how I have tackled this.
First and foremost, I share the notion that successful tailoring is about relationship building. Anyone can grind out items and list them on the galactic bazaar. There is something very special about a tailor or image designer or what have you who invests a lot of time making sure each and every one of their customers walks away feeling great. I built my business by investing in personal touches. In the beginning I sent personal thank-you notes to every single customer. That one thing was probably the best thing I ever did to increase my business - in fact, I'm doing so well I couldn't possibly send them out now. I built a very loyal customer base that way, though.
The second thing I did was I made myself known. Na'Dina's Formalwear. I make dresses. People don't come to me for cloaks and bustiers. I can make them, but that's not my "brand". I roleplay my heart out and play the vivacious fashionista to the hilt. It's nothing for me to be standing at a shuttleport and turn to the person next to me and say, "You know, the dark blue pattern on your lekku would really be played out if you wore a jacket with blue trim. I think that would look very smart." I advertise my shop in my auctions. I just do my best to get my name out there, and I'm not a master. I can tell you that I have more offers for work than I can possibly do on my own.
Obviously, the way I enjoy game is probably different than a lot of people. My heart beats for roleplay. Tailoring is just an instrument to get me more of what I love. Being master isn't the be all and end all of game for me; roleplay is. I am almost never bored or lonely. I am a part of a great PA, and they wanted me even when I only had one part of one skill tree in tailoring. I don't think you need to be a master - or even CLOSE to a master - to be useful and have fun in a PA. Good luck to you, and sheesh, drop me a line even just to chat!

You'll notice you build up a sort of gradual momentum with this sort of progression--the final trees will go much faster than your first couple. When you get to master, you'll probably have more business than you want. I sometimes feel trapped in my shop now, he he!
Thanks for all the good advice. I'm clearly going to have to get better at hanging around. My momentum is being very gradual.
I don't look forward to setting up harverster and then doing the circuit of them each day but I'm doing some math on how many resources I'm going to need to get to Casual II. I'm not going to be able to buy all those, so harvesters are in my future. Shouldn't you be able to buy a droid that gathers your harvester output for you?
Thanks again!

Thank you. I printed this out and I have it by the computer. I didn't realize the guardians would stop spawning. I thought they just kept coming. This helps a lot.

Thank you for auto-run tip! Gods that is great to have.

"Stomping out garishness one Wookiee at a time...?" I don't think I'm garish, but maybe I should be careful of getting in stomping distance of you?
Which PA are you in? What do you like most about them? Do they need another tailor? 8)
I'll definitely drop you a tell next time I'm on. Thanks!

Depending on the creature and the mission, it can take a long time to get it to the point where it stops spawning. If you're trying to gather hides as well as credits, that can be a good thing ![]()
