Here's a request from meto all tailors out there:
Please make blue jeans.
I did this as an experiment. Put six or so of them (Thin Striped Pants in a nice, jeans blue) up on the bazaar for about 350 credits or so. In the course of a week I sold one. So I'm not making blue jeans anymore unless it is on personal request (I do a lot of on-demand crafting and have as of yet never gotten a request for blue jeans).
It's a shame too, because I thought they looked really cool. But we make what the customer wants and the customer wants black.

So let me put the call back and make a request to all customers: Please buy things other than browns and blacks. ![]()

I am slowly working my customers away from black. How do I do this?
I make the two colored items like large pocket pants in black and ?? yellow or blue or some other color. Then I suggest a softunder shirt to match and a rugged jacket.
Another thing tailors might want to do is wear bright colored clothes!
I think part of your confusion is the skill is called "tailoring experimentation"
People refer to it as either tailoring 1-4 and experimentation 1-4. they are the same skill.
As far as the red goes, I believe that people are referring to "Fire engine" red. You see that color on dropped dress slipper a lot. There are other shades or red, I would still recommend spending your points there, because there are many other colors you get with the skill.
But the availaible colors is still limited by item.
**warning** all color numbers past this point are for example, and not meant to represent the accual numbers of colors you may get in game.
Like for boots, you might have 10 colors now.. experimentation 1 might take you up to 15 or so. But for a shirt, where you already have 30 choices, you may be up to 45 or so.
The numbers are very far from exact, but the basic concept it there...
