Thread: Do tailors still make lots of credits?

Tailoring certainly isn't a profession to take up to get rich quick. I think I mastered, around christmas time, with around 700k credits. I was setup in a mall and even without being a master I was making a fair amount of cash. After mastering and running a busy vendor for almost 3 months I'd made 6M. I do BE clothing but not in bulk, just for the odd custom order when asked.

Around the start of April I really got into the limited use schematic market, at one point shelling out 4M in one day for leather, claspsand schematics. Those items are certainly a business where you need money to make money. Since then from custom orders, I don't run my normal vendor anymore, and skill mod items I've managed to get upto 15M. I believe I'm one of, if not the top tailor on Chimaera for making the special items, I've made literally hundreds of them.It takes a lot of time and effort but you can certainly make a good living from tailoring.

One good tip is to regulary scavenge the bazaar, I've picked up a great many items from there that I've resold for plenty, and mainly clothing not other items. From my bazaar investment I'm sure I've made back 10x what I've paid for things.

Well Tailor / Dancer is certainly not the profession combination to choose if you want to be rich!

well this may sound sad, but all my "combat style" clothing, and anythign else i sell i nkits i have a note book Full of names and codes for the color.

military pants C1 (1st color) 4 x3 (4th from the left, 3rd row down) C2 12 x 6 ,

ext ext. those numbers i just pulled off the top of my head since i didnt break out the tailorign book i made up.

i do the same thing with necklaces. i alway forget what color the gem is, so when i made up the necklace, id call it example: C1 red C2 white

and then to figure out the actual name of the necklace all you need to do is examine it.

The most I was ever making as a tailor was when BE clothing first came out and I lucked out and found a BE who was willing to make tissues. But even that brief period of wealth pales in comparison to what I'm making now as an armorsmith.

I'm barely playing right now, stocking just one armor type (ubese, not comp) and I'd say my revenue is at least 10 times higher then when I was a tailor (at my tailoring peak). If I had the interest and energy for the game that I did 6 months ago I'd be making several different version of composite as well as my ubese, plus psg's in all 4 types. And I would be able to buy and sell most tailors.

It's a sad sad thing how poor tailor is compared to the other crafting proffessions. Especially when comparing the amount of work required by each crafting type.

Oh, one kind of amusing thing at fanfest, was someone asked one of the producers how many credits someone would need until he would consider him/her "rich". His reply? Around 100mil or so. Any "rich" tailors out there? lol, certainly not me.

Not yet, but I'm working on it.... 53m and counting

In terms of income, I believe I do better thanmost tailorson my server. Somewhere from 200 - 300k per day average. Yesterday was exceptionally good: over 1m. However, I supplement clothing income with powerups (a little hobby of mine) and tailored parts (trim, synth cloth and reinforced fiber panels). It -is- a lot of work and I agree with ArthurDent that it is hard to scale up compared to every other crafting profession. But, it is a lot of fun if you like interacting with people and designing outfits.

I actually get quite a bit of money from my BE clothes, up to 300k a day, with an average of 150k or so I would say.
