Thread: High level tailored items are still looting.
If this is the case, then I agree. NPC drops shouldn't have sockets.

Hmm, I know that things I cant make yet are dropping, but everything I put up on the bazaar sells before I can even make items to replace them.... So I dont really see a problem I guess. Sure we cant make it, but why should other people not get anything while we are still working on it?
The thing I see the most is that Artisians want 100% control over the market so they can jack up the prices on their items, even when the item is extremely easy to make. I see it over and over, and then I hear people complain about how hard it is to sell their item. I dont know about the people posting on this thread, because I dont know any of you
But maybe you should rethink your prices, and the items will sell.
As of right now, my sales are at 100%, I dont have to destroy anything and business is booming, and I have loyal customers. There is more to being a successful business person than who has the most amount of credits. People forget that we are here to benefit the comminuty, we work for them first, at least thats the way I feel.
For people who have trouble selling items, lower your prices and you wont have an issue. Good luck to you all.

Wow, now that's just outrageous. NPCs are supposed to loot the things we put in the sockets! I really wish they'd do something about the loot issue...
Ezavella, my problem hasn't been with my pricing. I'm selling everything I make as well. But if we're truly supposed to have a player economy, then loot drops shouldn't be undermining it. As someone said, they're high level clothing at high level colors, so we have to reach high levels in two seperate trees until we can make their equal. And no clothing is decaying, so if someone loots an item in a satisfactory color, they never need to replace it.
Our prices are lower than both weapon and armor prices for items similar level. Yet we make the only type of equippable items that don't decay. Since our prices are lower, our items should be more consumable than weapons or armor (at least until weget higher level and can makethem more durable - at which point they should be worth more). But our items aren't decaying at all, and therefore any experimentation we do on them is worthless. The only advanced crafting profession that sells lower priced items than the tailor is the chef. But their items are consumable, and by nature have to be replaced.
I get at least one tell every day thatgoes "my friend looted a gunman's duster, can you make me one?" or "I looted a Robe of Honor, but it's green, can you make me a blue one?" So I have to explain to them what skill level their requested item is in, and in some cases they'll have to look for someone with the title Master Tailor. They're always disappointed, and several times they've responded along the lines of "wow, that's really not fair to you guys..."
If there were any master tailors on my server and planet yet, it would be easy to just referthose requests to them. That way I'd feel like I'm actually helping the player out. But it's very frustrating to have constant requests about clothing that folks have seen other characters in and be able to do nothing at all to help them.
Ok, just so I am getting this straight.
You dont have a problem selling your items, you are just mad because people are getting them through other means than you, ie. drops. Its a player economy but they are also trying to add some realism to the game, like I kill a thug. Now, if I did something like that in real life, everything that thug would be wearing or had on them would be mine. Its just how looting happens, and it has been an aspect in just about every game I have ever played.
What it sounds like to me is that you want artisians to have 100% control over the market, but I am also having a hard time seeing how someone looting a cool item you can make yet and selling it, is any better than the first.
Even in a market economy there will always be a "black market", which in this case would be looting or resellers. Wanting to have a 100% player driven market is a dream, and wont happen because it can give too much control to a small group of players (Crafters![]()
For example, lets say somewhere down the line a massive crafters union is created and they all agree on prices, this can make them a very rich elitest group of people while the rest of the population needs items we just wouldnt be willing to sell for any cheaper than the price of your soul. I guarantee this would happen if we had 100% control over it, because greed is part of human nature.
So ya, this is something thats been brought up a ton of times, and can be debated even more, but we have to think about what is functional for all players, and not just for our community.

I forgot to add one thing. (Sorry for the spamming
) Also about players commin up to you wanted items in a different color, or things like that. You dont need to tell them what horrible people the Devs are and that its their fault the customers can have what they want. There is a simple answer to that problem, and its that this game has just begun. If you want a player driven economy, you cant complain about usnot being Masters right away. Seems like you are just venting that you cant have it all.
It will take time for people to become masters, and everyone I have talked to understands this, and I keep them up to date about where I am on skills, as do others. I havent found any players who have honestly not understood why we cant make them Master Artisian items, everyone understands because the game was just released. Again this is not an issue with the developers, just that the game is new.
Ok thats it for now ![]()

Hm, I'm sorry that I can't seem to come up with the words to make my meaning clear. For one thing, I'm not telling my customers anything to the effect of "the devs are horrible and don't want me to advance or you to have your items." I think they've done a hell of a job with this game.I think you may be confusing my attitude with those of some folks you've seen in game or on the boards.
I'm saying that high level weapon and armor drops were significantly cut in beta. Because of the player economy. Because the devs made a concious decision that a market for high level crafters was more important than "leet" loot. I just don't understand why if folks can't loot Master level weapons, Master armor, or master items in any other crafter profession that high level clothing should still be fair game. It's even less fair since clothing is the only one of these this groupthat's not decaying.
What makes master tailors any different from master crafters in any other profession? Are we somehow less valuable to the economy that it's okay for our high level things to loot even on low difficulty NPCs? Yes, I am upset that unlike any other group of crafters in the game, our community won't be the sole source of master level goods. And I won't apologize for thinking that's a reasonable idea.
You bring up realism, but the loot is totally unrealistic already. When you loot a NPC, you don't get the weapon they used or all the clothing they're wearing. Usually those NPCs are wearing clothing that's lower level than the things they're dropping. And they attacked you with a high level pistol, but you get a stone knife when looting them. So realism is already not a factor at all in loot drops.
Artisans will never have 100% control over the market. And they shouldn't. They should have exactly 50%, and the other half of the control should be exactly where it is, with the customers. Maybe the customers should have even more than that. I don't think I'm trying to be some kind of control freak by saying, again, that master and high level items created by ANY profession, not just tailors, should be looting, and I don't see how that simple, reasonable statement means that I want control over the marketor anything else in the galaxy.
I'm not trying to whine. I am venting a bit, because it does make me upset. But it's not because I can't have it all. I'm not upset that folks buy clothes from people other than me. If you ask the tailors on my server, I regularly refer business to them when I know they can make what the customer is looking for. It's not a question of whether or not I can make the item, that was just an example. I thought it was sad that on the second day folks were looting things none of us were capable of. I just think that there should be some level limit to the loot drops, is the reasoning behind that difficult to understand?
And I know you didn't intend this at all, but I think it's more than a little upsetting that you're dismissing my points by saying "you are just venting that you can't have it all." If you want to argue my points, great. Convince me. But dismissing me as a "complainer" doesn't do anything to address the issues we've been discussing.
In your last 2 posts you've said that I'm upset because folks have any source other than me, that I want 100% control over the market, that I'm bashing the devs to my customers, and that I'm just upset because I can't have everything I want right away. I'm not exactly sure how you thought any of those things from my posts. I guess I'm just not that good at communicating my ideas. I guess I'm overreacting to be a little offended, but just think about how that sounds for a moment. If you're going to respond, please direct your argumentsagainst my ideas and not against me. ![]()
Thanks.
I just started up the road to being a tailor so Im not sure on the different levels of clothing but I can say this.
Outside the captiol city of Correllia I got alot of clothing drops of humaniods that were white to me while I was using a survival knife and had no weapon skill. Here is a list of some of the stuff.
Pilot Jacket x2
Warm Hatx1
Large Pocketed Pants x1
Robe of Honor x3
And just to show the frequency of the drops, I was only there for about a half hour to a hour.
Now I did not know that those robes were Master Tailor items. Funny thing is I thought they were all ugly and destoryed them, I am still wearing the black pajamas I made for myself
