Thread: State of the Tailor (Abbridged Version)
That is a very well covered list. I love being a tailor and knewfrom the first day that is what I wanted. I've enjoyed every step of the way. I have to agree though, after about a month of being at master there is a point where you become bored. I have nothing to strive for but more money... which i really don't need. I have resorted to my own creativity for satisfaction or to persuing other interests. What I'd like to see in my profession is something to continually work for. Whether it is experimentation and quality or more customizations... I'd love to see new garments trinkle out over time for us to create. I'd love to see advancement beyond master tailor. I'd love to earn new schematic's by traveling and so on. I think these things are important to keep tailors interested in their professions. I love being a tailor and don't want to be bored!
One thing I would also like to add for consideration... and I'm sure many tailors as well as other master professions, can agree with this.. As much as I love being a tailor and love my customers, believe it or not there are days that I'd just like to log in take care of business quickly, then hang out with my friends or explore. Can we pleeeeeeaaaaaasssssseeeee have an option to be invisible online? Just making my character not searchable is not enough. 99.9% of my customers have me on their lists and know when I'm online. I get tells before I'm even loaded somedays lol. Giving them an afk message that I'm too busy for them or just need a night off is just not really enough and still feels like a rejection to the customer. When someone sends me a tell, I have a hard time not responding for that reason because I know, that they know I'm there. So if I end up answering tells when I'm busy doing something else its distracting and takes the fun out of it and sometimes irritates the people I am with.
So, in short I can understand why many people quit their professions or lie about quitting them when they are tired of being contiually asked for things when they are just trying to have some fun and relax. I can't even attend a friends wedding without a tell from someone wanting something. I think many people would enjoy being invisible so that they could have a bit of time to themselves without rejecting or putting off people each time they try. I really dont' know quite how you would work that out, but its something to kick around. Maybe having the option to select whoyou want to be visible to, then an option to be visible to all, then none. I'd be curious to hear what other tailors or masters in general think about that.
I still love being a tailor and doubt I will ever give up the profession. But I'd still like to see it evolve into a better and more challenging profession
Just my thoughts! ![]()

It looks very good. Everything is thought of. My compliments for the hard work.
There is only one thing i really dont like. And that is color range depending on quality of resources...Or rather anything based on quality. This is the only profession in artisan (beside making furniture) where quality doent matter and its a blessing. For 3 reasons:
Well said! One of the reasons I like tailoring is that materials don't matter. If I wanted to bother with finding the best resources to crank out the l33test wares, I would have become an armorsmith. It's good to have a variety of crafting professions, ranging from professions where good materials and experimentation pay off in better goods that demand high prices (armor and weaponsmiths), professions where you'll need tons of the same resources (architects), to the tailoring profession, which is less fiddly in finding resources, but more fiddly when it comes to finishing (coloring) the products.
Tailoring is relaxed! All you need is fiberplast, inert petrochemicals, metal, leather, some gems, and a factory. You don't need to find really good materials;after all, what we make is eye-candy. Another great thing is that all tailored items are equally useful. Sure, the more complex ones command higher prices, but more often than notI use low-level items of clothing to complete an outfit. To introduce experimentation and quality of materials as a factor would ruin the profession for me. Again, if I wanted all that, I would have become a weaponsmith or armorsmith.
What could be an option is to introduce a number of new items of clothing and / or colors, that would only be available with a certain type or quality of material, like the TwilekNoble Crest. Those that want to can then focus on getting those materials, and the rest of us can opt to not do so and ignore the new colors and clothes. The trick is to strike a balance between the normal and the 'finicky' range of colors and clothes, so that not everyone will want only the 'finicky' ones.
Heh... I am all for making black one of the 'special' colors... that way I can tell my customers 'Sorry, I don't do that color, too much trouble'.
I love the list... (butts hanging out all over the place, lol)
I like the trickling out of new schematics as well over time, I think thats the best way to go as well.
Maybe you could add a toggle switch for tells, to turn it on or off. That way you don't need to be afk all the time when you're NOT tailoring. I think the tells have to be the most annoying feature so far, though also the most helpful. But there is NO way to take a break from 'tells' at all. I think crafters in general would like this option. Might cut down on alot of frustration.
Also, I was thinking of 'special' tailoring schematics for imperial, rebel, and neutral tailors. If you're in a faction you have 'perks' to creating special clothes for your faction.
thanks
I LOVE the idea of trickling us several items perpatch rather than a huge ammount all at once. Ienjoy being a tailor, but it feels so stagnant without any new items. Getting a few new things to make per patch would rekindleinterest for longterm tailors greatly I would think. May even help some players to even look forward to patches....

New schematics would be nice!
I wonder if we'll ever have a swatch tool-thing that we can show to customers before we sew...hm!
