But with the upcoming CU, at least as it stands right now, there will be Armor Certifications. Different professions can wear only certain armor. You'll have to have at least a novice of an elite combat prof to wear any kind of armor. Which means that fashion armor will be a thing of the past which I don't like. I have an alt that is a tailor so I can make my own clothes and I was gonna go up a line of armorsmith to make "fashion" armor. No point to my doing that now.

My primaries are dancer and tailor. I am a LOUSY merchant, so I've taken the leftover skill points and dumped them into TK. I got tired of getting beat up by butterflies trying to check my damn harvesters. And frankly meditating is hawt.

I was a tailor/armosmith back in the day. It was kind of fun, and of course makes a fair amount of money, but ultimately lacks the creative freedom of tailor.
Still, as a master tailor you can make all the crates of components you need, which already puts you in front of the game. And customers love having chitin bracer and bicep on one arm to go with their gladiator image (for axample).
That ties you into a pure crafting template though, so expect not to leave town too much.

My character is Master Tailor, Master Merchant, Master Artisan, Brawler 0003, and enough Scout to get to Mask Scent and some harvesting skills (Scout 3020) if I remember correctly.
I've made tons of money by having a huge selection of clothing (about 3500 tailored items on my vendors at all times!). With Master Merchant, I can have up to 4000 items on my vendors (can have up to 12!!), plus all the other cool merchant benefits (barking, hiring, merchant tent, advertising droid which is not the most effective but dang cool!, etc). And with Master Artisan, I can make great powerups, swoops, and other stuff for sale and for my guild.
The merchant discount on harvester, vendor, and shop maintenance fees is a great help! And with the brawler and scout skills, I can take care of the little critters (not the big ones) that bother me when checking my harvesters and use Mask Scent to fool a lot of the big critters (I use good mask scent shirt/pants when checking harvester to push my minimum Mask Scent skill). Plus, I use a Harvesting Droid (harvesting bonus 113) to get some hide from the critters I can kill.
I wouldn't change my skills for anything! I'm becoming well-known, and make at least 50k per day (on a slow day) with no advertising (spamming, i hate it!), just word of mouth. The one time I did advertise my shop by putting advertisements up on the bazaar, I couldn't keep up with the sales!
And (blush) one of the best advantages is that I can make kick-a$$ outfits for myself any time I want and sell them when I get bored with them! Not to mention dressing my vendors...what fun!

PS. Now, all i have to do is find a Master Bio-Engineer on Bloodfin to make me some rockin' tissues, and all my tailor dreams will have been fulfilled.

Master Tailor
Master Merchant
Master Merchant
Dancer 0040
Ent 0044
Artisan 2443
Force Sensitive Crafting 0100
Force Sensitive Senses 0002
I plan to drop the survey line of artisan once I get the survey branch filled in my FSXP box.
I may pick up a basic combat profession if I have enough sp after filling my fs branches.
I am also hoping that with the new CU, I won't need the extra line in ent to get the dancer tree.

Alcen's been around the block, but at the core he's always been Tailor/Carbineer ever since I decided to go into clothing instead of droids. I like having a life away from crafting; for those of us who can't afford another character and haven't put in enough grinding...err...effort to get their 'FS Slot' unlocked, it's definitely the way to go.
So currently Alcen is:
Master Tailor
Master Artisan
0002 Merchant
3303 Carbineer
Scattered FS abilities
Heading towards Master Carbineer. (Bye-bye Master Artisan, for the third time!)

Would be 4 possiblilites to go with tailor. For a long time i had tailor/ID with enough merchant to get by, may be able to master it now though at the same time as ID, not sure.
