Thread: dont do factory runs on clothing

It seems to be hit or miss with whether colors stick so perhaps any of these factors might have something to do with it:
- Did factory remain "spawned" during the factory run (i.e. were there enough people around to keep it spawned in the world)?
- Did you logout during the time the factory was running?
- Did the server reset before you took the items out of the crate?
- Did you stay in the area while the factory was running, or did you shuttle around and only come back and retrieve when the factory was finished?
- Did you load the schematic after you made it, or wait a while?
- Did you unload the entire crate at one time? If not, did you get different colors at different "unload times?"
My crazy thought is that in cases where the colors did "stick" there was some reason that the server didn't have the chance to "lose" the data between the schematic's creation and the final pulling the item out of the crate. I know nothing about computers, but it can't hurt to try to narrow down the circumstances in which the color does and does not stick.
For the most part I stay in my crafting house which is less than 50 meters from my factories. I usually have the overhead map on as well. For the Sunguards and the Reinforced Pants I was online in the house the whole time. For the Uniform Boots I did log off.
I loaded the schematics just after I made them, made them in crafting house and then made way to the factory inserted them and let them go.
I unloaded 5 from each crate I made at the same time. I have not gone back and tested them again I'll do that today for you.
Server did not reset while I was making them.

Just from the data here, it suggests that we either have an issue that only limited palettes are behaving properly or that it doesn't remember the "high" numbers.
Limited palette: It seems that above, the colors that had the best chance of sticking were ones in the small, limited palettes. However, how do we explain the correct run of green tops?
Small numbers: Each color, I think, is given a number as is its position in the palette. This is why swoops became all wonky when the palette was changed, because the assigned "number color" now went to a position on a different palette. All the black items, especially in the limited palette, would have a relatively low number assigned. So the red items, which are toward the bottom of the palette and therefore would be assigned a higher number, did not come out at all. Teh revealing tops are an interesting case study because they are all the same palette, yet one color came out while the others did not. Depending on what colors were used, green may be a lower number than blue or red (impossible to say without knowing which blues or greens were used).
This is just me spouting one possible analysis of the data at hand. Anyone else have any suggestions what could be the problem?

Okay I did the following late last night:
I took a few more out of each of the earlier crates....still came out the same ( all correct but the white sunguards which come out default color.)
Also made :
Link Steel Reinforced Gloves (Black) they turned out fine.

Possible.
However the Sunguard uses a limited palette. You can make Black okay, but my White ones came out default color so it could be an exception. More testing is needed most likely.

Yeah, so far it's been really hard to find a pattern. What about the theory that things come out ok if you stay close to your factory and immediately pull from the crates? Is that one valid at all?
To be honest that may be the culprit, however I was close to the factories when I did the Sunguard (White) too. I only took out 1 crate of the link steel gloves last night though it made two, I'll be taking the other one out today, and note if it produces different results since I have logged out and will have to log in to get it.

I think so -- I was at my shop..factory is outside and I check them from time to time to check their progress.
- Did you logout during the time the factory was running?
Usually no I do not, but sometimes I do.
- Did the server reset before you took the items out of the crate?
No
- Did you stay in the area while the factory was running, or did you shuttle around and only come back and retrieve when the factory was finished?
Yes I stayed in the area.
- Did you load the schematic after you made it, or wait a while?
Ran it as soon as I made it and loaded the components.
- Did you unload the entire crate at one time? If not, did you get different colors at different "unload times?"
Nope, only unloaded a few at a time..all were the same color I had selected on the schematic. Of course they were all black

So far it seems that if we don't give the clothes a chance to "forget" any data by leaving them alone, they come out okay.
I stopped a factory run of white leather gloves before it was finished and they became brown, however,

formfitting under shirts that are all black come out fine
just seems on camos when you try to make them red on black they come out red on white
and mercenary bandos all black come out black
