"What does everybody do here when it comes to custom orders? Just wondering how you all approach the unique problem of dressing someone the way that they like.... Do you all take orders only via email... or do you set appointments and give each customer individual attention? Just gathering some market data//"

*EVERYTHING* peopleorder gets emailed to me. I won't accept orders in /tell or spatial chat unless I'm completely not busy (never happens) or they are a friend and I already know what they want.

Doesn't matter if I'm standing there alone and you're the only other person in my store, email me your order. Chances are I'm in 3-4 tells with other people or crafting up a large order, so I'll lose any order you tell me or mention publicly. At least in email I can kind of check off what people wanted as I make it.

It's usually a great pain when people come in and say "Dress me, you're the expert!". I don't know what THEY want to wear, and I'm not going to make 3-4 outfits and spend and hour with someone trying them on unless I'm highly paid for it (we're taking 6 digits highly paid ). Sadly I just don't have time.

I almost never put color names on the clothes. The clothes on my vendor are mostly black with red trim or black with grey trim. The few exceptions are my "camo" lines that are designed to match with the camo pants I stock. I carry three lines of camo on the vendor... Forest, Desert, and Urban. These pieces are named so that they will sort together "Zolus Couture Forest Whatever"

Personally that I can barely keep up with stocking my vendor in black, I can't imagine trying to keep up with colors also. I usually only sell colors as special orders.

I figure if people want a specific item, they will sort the vendor for it and if you have more than one they will check to see what colors they are.(I'm going to look at any item I buy before I pay for reguardless of the name) And people who don't know exactly what they want, are going to be looking at the items reguardless of whether I put the colors in the names or not. so... it's just one more word to type and I generally don't like the way it looks with the color in the title.. But then, I've abandoned the bazaar for everything except for backpacks and I've never had a huge number of people to compete with anyway, since I live on Rori.

I tended to take the 3 tier color naming approach. I really only named the best colors of each new tier of customization colors. (Course when the tier2 was the only red on the server, it was red, but as soon as the Tier 4 red came the old became maroon, and the new red, "red".) Since the tier 4 colors have been around so long I haven't renamed any of my old colors eventhough they all have the simplest names (true blue, red, green etc).

Anyways I always name the Exact shade the same thing every time. This way when someone shops, if they buy Jade, every Jade item will match and be the exact shade. So this does limit the colors I stock on my vendor, but in reality customers won't notice/care about 7 different shades of green, they only notice the lightest, med and dark. I almost never stock the lightest colors cause they are too washed out (the exception trying to go for a non-master yellow or peach color).

Anyways my naming convention:

Steel blue (Low tier blue)
Lt blue, med blue, blue/ultramarine (Higher tier blue, different shades)
Sapphire (master lvl blue)

Dusty green
Forest green (mid tier green)
Jade (Lighter forest green color)
Hunter green (Tier 4 green)
Lime (Lighter Hunter green)
Emerald (Master lvl green)

Peach (Lightest brownish/orangish color from Tier 3/4)
Lt orange (Light shade of Master orange)
Orange (Medium shade of master orange)
Blood orange (Dark shade of Master orange)
Pumpkin (The last out of place unique shade of master orange)

Pale yellow (Lightest color of the tier 3 yellowish brown)
Yellow (tier 4 lighest shade of the hunter green series)

Dark maroon/burgundy (basic redish/brown)
Maroon (First red)
Red (High tier red) (I'll prob start calling this raspberry)
Lt pink/pink (Lighter shades of high tier red)
Fire red (master lvl red)
Soft pink/Coral (Lighter shade of Master red)

Dark purple (Tier 4 purple)
Light purple (Very light tier 3/4 purple, but now replace by light shade of master purple)
Medium purple (Master lvl purple)
Vivid Purple (Darkest shade of master purple)
Vivid Violet (The pinkish purple after the darkest purple)

My blacks, unless I'm color matching I stick to the very 1st set of purest black, and the cleanest set of grey/black (no other color tinting)

The darkest black I call black, the darkest of the set of greys is just a tad lighter than the pure black. I call this charcoal. Charcoal actually looks better to me as a black for many items like the decorative vest.

The white color pallet I call white if I use the top 1-2 shades. If I go to the darker shades I call it silver. Some things actually look very good in silver, don't overlook this option. Grey to me is anything more than 50% of the way to black. I generally stick to Light, grey, or dark grey as naming.
