Aah so they did .. (say their main is a master tailor I mean) I read the post quickly on my way out x-mas shopping. hehe

Although I must say I seriously have my doubts about the extent of this person's experience in the tailoring field if they don't understand the frustrations of the profession or reasons for us to play the way we do.

I suspect he/she probably does have faithful clients, but the question is.. how many of them? We all work on different scales and I'm sure the tailor with one small shop and small amount of clients wouldn't feel the pressures that others with multiple shops and endless clients would feel.

One more brief comment. Think about it for a second. What you are asking is why are there not more tailors that make lots of stock for YOU to choose from, that offer a high degree of service for YOU, and that charge the prices that YOU expect? The answer of course is that they bought the game, and play the game for their own enjoyment, not yours.I know that sounds harsh, but that is the underlying truth. If they are no longer in need of credits (and if they have been playing a while they are certainly not), have reached their tailoring goals, and doing stuff like offering custom tailoring sessions is no longer fun for them for whatever reason (unappreciative customers, or just the desire to spend their online gaming time doing something different like blasting rebels) then there is no incentive for them to do it at all, nor should you expect it of them. This is obvious, but we sometimes forget this basic fact when talking about this game.

I have built what i call the tailor mall on Bloodifn, The city of Obsidia on Naboo. 3004 5795 I have all kinds of stores here clothing in them so you can go insdie and window shop i add more stuff daily so no this is not all i can make. Its only about 50% of it. As everyone knows jewelry is bugged yo cannot see it when crafting it. So go to my store and i have a full room of jewelry on display for you to see, mens clothing, womens clothing, wedding clothng for men and women, jackets and belts and more. Just stop by. I do make bio clothing as i get the stock. Right nowi have Doctor, Scout, Cover, Bleed and Entertainer in stock. Im workign on the Ch 1's now. My name in game is AmberN. I kind of went against the grain. I do not make BE clothing. I only make the normal stuff. I try and keep my vendor stocked with items in a variety of different colors and styles but even not doing BE, it is very tough. There are alot more characters than there were in the beginning and there seems to be alot less patience in them. I had a guy send me a tell asking for some items tonight. I was in the process of moving 2 houses and a guild hall over to a new city and explained that I was unable to fill his order right away and told him why. I get 7 more tells from him in 1 hour pestering me to make them. Tailors have lives too....I love my profession and often drop anything I am doing to help someone out but people need to understand that if we stood there all day every day working on orders we wouldn't be getting the most out of our gaming experience. I spend 75% on tailoring and 25% on actual RP.

Hmm...well I kinda like the person who said...tailor our shoes and walk a mile in them. I have to say as a long time master tailor, I agree with this totally. While I didn't build a website and say put it in email I don't want your tells, I wish I had sometimes.

Folks tend not to listen when you say you have 40 other people asking you for stuff.I can't write that fast and answer folks at the same time...how easy is it to get confused? So, to keep things straight I ask my customers to email me and I do the items on a first come basis. Business practice? well last time I looked this was supposed to be fun...not work.

I charge for my TIME to make the item.. don't tell anyone its silly to charge 20k for something. It's a matter of preference for the individual tailor to set their own prices based on their time and the resources.

I have to agree with Mr Dent on this one, you expection of finding anyone let alone atailor to bow to what you believe is right is never going to be the case. You have to find a middle ground, and if your after something not stocked as standard then expect to pay a little extra.

You also should note being a master tailor is different to being a tailor as a job. In the nice world you do just have customers making ok requests for items. But among those you have people asking you to describe in detail BE clothes, expecting you to travel across 3 planets to drop of an item worth only a few k.

So like anything their are two sides to every tale for every bad tailor you might of seen i have seen 100 customers far worst.

But of course all of this is the bad side the truth is nearly all tailors are nice, helpful people, and the same goes true for the customers its only a few people that leave a bad impression for others.

Hi, I'm Tailor on Gorath. I have to say being a tailor ISNT that difficult. I just have a big house and a small house, and 2 factories (granted i am part of a wonderful guild and I always have enuf fiberplast and metal thanx mostly to them, whatever they can't get me I buy from other sources). I always have plenty of comps on hand. SO making orders shouldnt take more than a few clicks and an organized place (or vendor) to put them in until delivery. And personally, I LOVE to get with a customer and 'create' an outfit for them that they enjoy. Sometimes it comes to setting up appointments if theres alot of ppl who want to do it at the same time.

BUT... here is the key, if you don't want to Tailor right then, say you are unavailable. Say you are out hunting on Lok with your guild and will be unavailable for a while. It's not that hard, you most likely wont lose a customer unless you ignore them for maybe a week, ppl don't get offended. And if they do, they need to realize its a game and you need to play it the way it is fun for you.

I have fun with Tailor, thats why I do it, if it's just a way for you to make money you shouldn't be doing it. theres plenty of ways to make money.

And as far as prices go... ohmygod. There's NO reason for them to be anywhere near 20k. not even 10k i don't think ive ever charged more than 5k for anything (unless it has BE tissues then i add the price of each tissue in as well) Basically, if you don't like it stop. And if ya do like. make it fun, don't grind yourself out or go crazy standing in front of the crafting station. I've seen it happen to too many good crafters.

My second character is a master tailor on Tempest. My shop, Misthaven Design, is not stocked with things because I don't have the time to keep it stocked. If there is something you'd like just send an e-mail to Nagamitsu with description of the item you are looking for and I will create it for you and leave it on the vendor.

I'm usually online from 9-11pm EST.

Oh and if anyone else is looking for clothes on Tempest, feel free to send me an e-mail or a tell. I'll always prefer an e-mail because many tells can get annoying, but I'll never ignore anyone sending me a tell.

You know what I hate more than people who insist that tells are the only way to go and refuse to send e-mails? People who set a time/date for an appointment and are A) an hour late, or B) an hour or so after the appointment was supposed to be send me a /tell to say they won't be showing up because they got in this really cool hunting party. I mean, I guess they thing that I have nothing better to do than to stand around all day and wait on just them. Surely they must be my ONLY customer, right? I could have made more money in that hour by standing in front of a spaceport looking pretty. And yes, I also have another account with a combat character that I could be playing.

I don't use a vendor. I do custom orders only, because I don't need the money. I prefer spending time with the customer and making them the exact item they want. restocking a vendor every few weeks is a pain. Tried it, hated it. Most orders that I get for less than 1000, I usually just whip out and offer it for a very reasonable price. I've often given entertainers an item of nice clothing just as a tip for healing my mind/BF

I usually tell people to check the websites. www.elizzas.de/index and www.inalina.de are the two most common ones I have used. Then send me an email listing what they want. I can examine it and see who is in order. First come, first served. I may need some questions asked before I get it all done, and I can reply to them with those while I work.

I'm one of the unusual ones. I hate combat. I prefer the social aspect of the game, and the roleplaying. But then I am not the heavy combat character that those BH and commandos are.

The best tailor I have found to date is Kia' on Bria server. She is also a Master ID so you can get your total makeover done. She used to be just outside of Theed but recently moved to a player city also on Naboo. You need to ask for half of your "consultant's fee" up front when making the appointment
