Thread: How much money do tailors make?
In order to be competitive (aka not so cheap as to piss off too many other tailors, and not so expensive to piss off my coustemers) I sell synth cloth at 2K and RFPs at 2.7K (Knowing that the standard is 2.5K for synth and 3K for RFPs, but I turn a big enough profit to afford reinvestment as well as a pittence for myself. Like the one guys post said "how do you spend 600K"?) I'm also a casual player, so I only really turn out a couple of crates a day and don't usually make the full 30K (Because of the factory bug. Normally I'd make more, but since I can't check on the thing every coulple of minutes, I can't redeed it more frequently than once, maybe twice a day, which puts a cap on my production.)
Over the last week, good days and bad, I've probably sold on average just a bit over 15k per day worth of stuff. Way too much of that involved hides, which cost about 3 to 4 times as much as my other ingredients. Net profit from that 15k per day was probably around 5k or 6k per day, not much better than break-even. XP gain from selling 15k per day of clothes isn't negligible, but it's only about enough (any more) to gain 1 skill box every two weeks, and 5k per day of profit doesn't cover a lot of grinding.
Keep in mind that I'm in the middle of repricing my stuff downwards to increase throughput, and desperately in need of getting out and doing some more advertising and sales, and facing competition that I didn't used to have in my local market, so these numbers are low for me. Even at lower skills, a week ago those numbers would probably have been nearly doubled.
I made my real money, the money that paid for my buildings, my armor, and the materials that I'm using to grind, off of Surveying IV - first selling ore to architects, then running survey missions.
I kept track today and so far made 24,800 credits (maybe a little more). It normally picks up at night however. But still 24k a day isn't bad.
This last week on Eclipse I made 2.3 million, but i was trying to make money this week, if i dont try i make about 1 million a week. about 100-200k a day on the week days and sometimes 500-700k on the weeked days. I notice it goes in waves. one week so so the next week hopping.
I have two busy shops right now, one in Bestine and the other in Coronet

I don't keep a tally of what I make in a day.. I make enough to have well more then enough to pay for my costs and any weapons/armor or things I need. I run all my own harvesters a
I do almost ALL special orders by email because I prefer to customize the look to the person. This has netted me alot of loyal customers and people I call friends ![]()
I do stock my vendor (when the darn thing isn't eatting items) and I make quite a bit from her, but my real fun in my day comes from meeting up with my customers at my shop and going one by one to tailor the items they want in the colors that look good on them (it usually turns into a large group sitting around talking about everything while we all find the right outfit for the person I am working on at the moment). Whats really funny is most of my customers will stay at the shop to gab and help me with the next persons outfit (giving yah or nays on colors and styles). I've made a ton more doing it that way because one customer will see me make an outfit for another.. and they will purchase one as well.
I also spend time matching pants or shirts to stuff bought off of other tailor's vendors that aren't willing to make matching outfits or won't do special orders.
I have a comfortable living and I'm having fun. LOL wow I digressed a bit.. sorry ![]()
As the first master on my server I made several million the first couple days. After that I was crafting to the bone and bringing in about 450k a day. That dropped to about 100k a day or so when more tailors popped up. Eventually I moved as my guild split and I lost a lot of my customer base due to our new PA location being real far out. Now I have two shops and when I keep them stocked I can still make a couple hundred thousand a day if I try, but now im working on TKA skills so sometimes I don't stock up and make very little. Doesnt matter though because now I have a lot of money and nothing to spend it on.
Overall its worth it, its a shame so many tailors went so low on master tailor items as now they arent very special anymore - everyone has one so they are just novelties.
I make about 50k a day... mostly on vendor sales. I'm such a sucker though. I usually end up practically giving away my non-master-level custom orders especially if the person has bought a lot from my vendor. I also find myself offering free custom clothes to odd-looking toons just for my own entertainment and to entertainers as tips. Getting a chubby male mon calamari dancerinto a pink infiltration suit, pink and yellow warm hat, yellow gloves and boots was worth every bit of material used. He was also quite happy with it.
Don't worry too much about money other than making enough tokeep yourself going. If you grind yourself out and don't have fun with it the money isn't worth it at all.
same here around 40-50k in a night..thats all sales though, not accounting for harvs, shops, vendors, hides etc etc etc
yep, hardly an armoursmith though i do giggle when a player wearing a fullsuit of composite (100k on starsider) complains that 2k for a piece of clothing is too expensive
I have 210+ items on display.
I have less then 50 on my vendor.
I am located in the largest player town on my server.
I have 3 other master tailors within 1000 metres of me.
I don't really make much at all, but **edit**, I do make you look good !
