Another thing to bear in mind is that, unlike most (all?) other crafting professions, the *quality* of resources is irrelevant. So you don't have to go around hunting for the "best" fiberplast, for example. The "worst" will do quite nicely, thanks!
I had about the same time frame to Master Tailor as Rand. About 3 months. That's the single biggest problem I have with the profession; the XP system is *seriously* screwed up if you're an actual working tailor, and not just grinding through everything. Bottom line, the way it works is that the more complex and expensive the item, the *less* XP you get for it! (While, of course, the XP requirements for the "next box" keep going up and up....)
I guess not many people care since so many people just get some AFK ribbed shirt macro or something (not to mention that the screwed-up XP system becomes totally irrelevant to you once you *do* reach Master), but it's a pain.
I didn't grind at all until pretty late in my progress, when I started doing cartridge belts whenever I didn't have "profit-directed" crafting to do. I started seeing it not so much as "quasi-cheating" but as just compensation for how much the XP system screws over the working tailor.

lol, in fact I find myself sub-conciously looking for the worst fiberplast I can find. 600OQ? **edit**, that might be useful making low end meds, I'm not gonna use that for clothing. Gotta find something worse, rofl.

1. I personally grinded and it took me a few days. I am not a holo-grinder. Just wanted to get Master fast so I can make the good stuff. I am still a Tailor.
2. It is, but its begining to get boring. It's pretty limited on the colors and variety of things we can make.
3. Tough to gauge personally. Everytime I put the Master Tailor up on my name I get lots of /tells. Especially if you're in Coronet. Advertising your shop is a good way to make money, but it will be tougher with the new merchant nerf.
4. It varies. I harvest the stuff I need in abundance. The stuff like gemstone and crystalline I buy because I dont need much of that. Fiberplast, Petroand Steel are what I mainly harvest. Quality doesnt matter.

One other thing. When you Master it, I recommend making LOTS of synthetic cloth crates. I make more credits by selling crates of cloth than ANYTHING else.
