Thread: Odd Customers ...

The other night, I got a tell from a girl very politely asking me if I could make her a few items. She knew exactly what she wantedand what colors she wanted them in. She even agreed to the price (I knocked off about 500 credits just because she was soooo polite and knew what she wanted - I reward those who do their research .) She asked me to meet her in the cantina, which I don't normally want do (I just send a WP to my shop and have them pick up the order), but I was already on my way to Theed to train my next box of merchant, so I told her I'd see her in a few minutes. I trained, then headed over to the cantina to start crafting while I was waiting for her to arrive (she told me it would be a few minutes because of horrible lag). While I'm crafting, this "girl" (it was prettyobviously a guy playing a girl) runs up and starts yelling right in my face to trade her some clothes. Now apparently, she had been running around the cantina dropping hints that she needed some clothes, but I didn't see because of the giant crafting window. The conversation, which took place entirely in spatial with peoplesnickering,is as follows (I am referring to her here as Man-Girl, or MG for short.):

MG: Can you trade me some clothes?

:Crafting window obscuring view:

MG: HEEEEELLLLLOOOOOOOO!!!! ARE YOU THERE????I NEED CLOTHES!!!

Me: I'm sorry, I was crafting. How can I help you?

MG: I need clothes. Can you trade me clothes?

Me: I don't have anything I can trade, but I'd be happy to make you a few things.

MG: Ok, that's kewl.

Me: What would you like?

MG: I don't know. Just anything. I want it to be cute. And secksie.

Me: Ok.How about a sports bustier and a pair of shorts?

MG: Is that secksie?

Me: My alt character dances in it all the time. It's very nice.

MG: Ok, fine. Make it.

Me: Do you have a color preference?

MG: I don't care, just make it.

Me: Alright, that will be 2k credits.

MG: For that?? Isn't that a lot???

Me: That's pretty good for this server actually. When my alt bought hers, it was more than that.

MG: Ok, fine. Make it.

(At this point, my other customer shows up, I put her items into a travel pack and trade it to her, she gives me the money for it, it's the smoothest, most wonderful transaction I've ever conducted. I will refer to her as "The Best Customer Ever" or TBCE)

TBCE: Wow!! I love your outfit! Can you make me the same thing?

MG: Yeah me too! That's secksie!

(I am wearing a light blue light bustier and a teal and light blue extremely revealing skirt, which, with my gray/blue skin color looks absolutely stunning. I'm very proud of that ensemble)

Me: Sure! Let me finish with MG, and I'll make it for you then (quotes price)

MG: Is it done yet? I want you routfit too.

TBCE: Great! Thank you so much!

MG: HEEEELLLLOOOO!!! I'm still here!

Me: Yes, I am starting your order now. TBCE was actually ahead of you. I'll just need two minutes to craft it.

MG: K. But hurry up.

MG: And I want what you're wearing too. That's really really hot. How much?

I repeat the price.

MG: REALLY!?!?! Ok, NM. That's way too much. Just make my outfit now.

TBCE: That's actually really cheap.

MG: Whatever. Just hurry.

I craft the shorts and sports bustier in a really pretty purple color to match MG's eyes. Then try to trade it to her.

Me: Trade me, MG.

TBCE: She just logged.

Me: /snarl

Oh yeah! And this was all in front of this guy that I have a huge crush on and was trying to talk to in between crafting screens too. Luckily for me, that particular shade of purple looks good with my skintone too.

From the sound of things, they may be making this considerably easier to do. They mentioned at fanfest being able to essentially "roll up" a house and it's contents into a container. Hopefully such a thing will in fact make such moves possible.

Maybe I'm getting grumpy having to spend so much time dealing with the inability to make BE clothing, but I had a customer today that inspired me to find this thread again.

After explaining, re-explaining, then re-RE-explaining the be clothing bug, (I must admit I went from to to )my customer tells me "but I just want *one*". I finally found a way to get my point across, tho I may no longer have a customer.

"I cannot make it in a box. I cannot make it with a fox. I cannot make it in the rain, on a boat or on a train. I cannot make it <customer-name-here>, I cannot make them <customer-name-here>"

Gawd... I feel better. (I may need a break from crafting...)

My story wasn't a difficult customer or anything.. just something kind of weird.

ex-guildmate: Hey, i'm gonna be armorsmith, can you make me 5400 syn cloth?

me: sure, it'll be 1,080,000 credits. And I'll need you to pay up front.

ex-guildmate: Ok, here's 800,000 now and I'll pay the rest when they're done.

(I'm ok with the large deposit, so I start making them, tell him that I'll let him know as each batch of 1,000 is done so he can pick them up).

Send the emails as they're completed, put things in packs of 20 crates on my storage vendor until he comes. Send final email. no reply. 1 week goes by. send another email. 2 weeks go by. send another email. 3 weeks. 4 weeks. no response. I've been seeing him logon/off from my friends list. so i know he's getting my mail. Send him a final one:

"Hello, you've not responded to your syn cloth order. If you don't respond within 48 hours, i will be confiscating your order and you will forfeit your deposit."

2 days later, i had 5400 syn cloth and 800k credits.

He never came looking for them.

Does anyone else get a tell like this:

Customer: I am looking for "item" and you do not have it on your vendor can you make it for me.

Me: I know its there i just put a bunch on today.

Customer: Well they are not here now!

--Go look on vendor and there they are--

Me: They are on the vendor I just looked and verified. Did you hit the "Next" button to see ALL the inventory?

Customer: What next button?

This has happened about 10 times in the last week. The last one I was there when they showed back up to look. The customer shows up and its a lvl 80 Jedi with 125 badges... abviously been playing a while and didnt know there are more then one screen or items on bazaar/vendor? Just makes me laugh every time and leaves me thinking.... EBAY?

Two odd ones:

Yesterday, I got a tell from somebody asking me if I can do a custom order. Sure. No problem. Email me what you want and I will email you back a price. There's a pause while he types it up, then I receive the email and it's really simple. A skirt (black & white) and a decorative vest (also black & white). One emailedprice quote and a fewvery confused follow-up tells later, and his order is ready. I wasn't quite able to figure out which color he wanted as the main color and which was to be the secondary color, so I actually made four items - switching the colors around(which I wouldn't normally do, but I hada friendwaiting for ID and I needed to make a harvester run) -toss it into a travel pack, place it on my custom order pick-up vendor and get the heck out of there. Because I hate being there when people pick up their orders. I don't know why, lol!So I send a tell to my friend (the one who needed ID) letting him know that I was on my way to his house, and he said he'd meet me there. We're sitting in his house, I'm IDing him (he wanted to look like "evil Dennis Miller" - bless him), and I get the email that Weird Customer has picked up his order. Sweet. Just as I finish evil Dennis Miller, I get another tell from Weird Customer, just "hello." "Hi! Did you get your order?" I ask, even though I know he did. "YesI gotmy order, but where arethe pantaloons that I ordered?" Snuh? I go back to the email and double check. Yup! No pantaloons! So I tell him he hadn't ordered any. Then Evil Dennis Miller asks me if I can make a few doctor's dresses for him while I'm there (which I, of course, do). Weird Customer sends another tell that says "I sent it in another email." I check my email to make sure. Nope. No pantaloons. So I politely say "The server email must be acting up. I never received that one" and let him know that there should be a pair of (black, of course) pantaloons on the vendor. Pause. More pause. Paaaauuuuse. I assume he's checking my vendors. So after a couple minutes, I ask him "Did you find a pair?" And he replies, "No I'm in Theed." /supressScream I tell him "Ok, I'll run and check it out and let you know" because my shop is close to my friend's house. So I finish up the doctor's dresses, run over to my shop, and see that there are actually three pairs of black pantaloons on my vendor (they've been selling like hotcakes, so I've over-stocked). I let the guy know, then beat it back out of there, hoping he'll just run in, grab them and leave. I send another tell to someone whom I have a fairly major crush on letting him know that I'm going to hide in his house (also right near my shop) while the guy picks up the dang pantaloons (I did need to run to my harvesters, but I wanted to stay nearby in case Weird Customer needed something else). Major Crush laughs and says alright, and lets me know that he'll actually be swinging into town in a little bit anyways, so he'll meet me there. So about five minutes later, I get another email - the guy picked up the pantaloons. YAY! It's over! Or not. Weird Customer tells you, "Do you have any sandals on your vendor?" (He's right there!!) "I'm not sure. Do you see any?" "I don't know, I have a etf." What??? "A tef." Umm ok. Tell Evil Dennis Miller, "Didn't TEFs go away with the CU?" "Yes, why?" "There's a guy saying he can't look for sandals on my vendor because he has a tef?" "Lol!!! *shrug*"Tell Weird Customer, "I can go to the shop and help you look or make you a pair if they're not there." "No that's ok." Are you sure? "Yeah, I already left."

/scream But at least he was gone.

Then a little while later, I got a tell from a guy that I met a while ago, when I was still novice. He had asked me to make him something, but I couldn't yet and wound up just making him a pair of shoes. He asks me if we can meet to discuss custom order, and I let him know that I can meet him in about an hour. He's very cordial, very sweet, and a hardcore RPer. I'm actually really, really, painfully bad at RP, but it's a nice change, and I think the guy appreciates me staying in character. So I do my harvester run, go to the cantina with Major Crush for a while to hang out with guildies until the appointment, and then return back to my shop. RPer and I have a very nice conversation, I give him a pair of pantaloons to try on (he asked if I had a dressing room, and I had him go across the hall), he decides that he likes them and asks for a pair of dark red and "standard blue." So I tell him that I will check the racks for his size, he goes back into the "dressing room" and I craft the pantaloons for him. Because he's so nice and he remembered me so long after I last talked to him, I tell him that he can have them for free. Hethanks me profusely and I ask him if he would like some shirts to go with them. He says that some shirts would be great, and he's going to go "slip into these." Then he winks at me. I'm slightly weirded out and jokingly say to Major Crush (whom I've been talking to the whole time about how crappy I am at RP) "Now he's winking at me, come be my big scary boyfriend lol" So RPer was in the "dressing room" the whole time I made the shirts, and who should walk in but Major Crush in his storm trooper armor! LOL He sends me a tell asking where the guy went and I say "He's in the dressing room." Major Crush goes across the hall, comes back and shrugs at me. Apparently, the guy LDed in my shop, because I know he never left it. Hopefully he comes back, because I have a lot of shirts to match his pantaloons!

Wow, that was a lot. Sorry guys!
