Thread: Why is the color pallet so restricted?
I think the basic idea is to limit the leather and metal bits to colors that look good on leather and metal.
Whether that idea is good, bad or indifferent, I'm not certain.
I would love to see master tailors getting the 250 (soon to be 255) color palette on every single item/color choice. I hate explaining to customers daily why I can't makea specific pair of boots match the redoutfit they just purchased.
Blah I don't care if brightly colored leather is realistic! This is a game! Who the hell needs realism and logic?
And yeah about that whole armor color thing, if they can color their metal at all , which somehow I feel would be impossible, I should be able to have bright red boots and my wook wook buddies should get brightly colored smocks, and helms and stuff. Poor little restricted Wookiees.. they could at least make the smocks and helms use the normal pallette. Wookiees can only be orange, brown, white, black, grey and variations of those pretty much. The leather colors look terrible on them because they are already confined to being 1 or 2 very very drab colors.
It might actually be cool to add 20-30 leather colors at master including reds, oranges (which oddly enough are available in the very very restricted pallette that cloaks/dusters have) blues, greens, purples and such as that.
I'd still rather have all the colors.
Well, this certainly seems like a good issue to add to the next correspondant list to the devs. ![]()
In today's world, you can dye just about any fabric to any color, I think the same or more should be true in SW.
I'm assuming tailoring IV gives you all the colors you can get because there is no customization skill mod in the master box, only experimentation.
The 55 colours are missing because the +55 customization bonus is missing from master, so you will get them at master.
But only the big (200) palette will change, none of the smaller ones.
I could be way off. Maybe you get red, blue and yellow sooner.
I'm only at tailoring II so I'm not sure if you get those colors before master. If anyone knows and would be willing to share with me I would greatly appreciate it.
To make matters worse I’m colorblind (you can laugh, I know a colorblind tailor if funny), so I have a really hard time identifying colors unless they are pretty close to primary (as in 255/0/0 for red, 255/255/0 for yellow and 0/0/255 for blue on an RGB scale.)
If you can't beat the system join it. All my clothing on the vendors are either black/grey or white. Not only are these the most popular colors, but also the easist to match.
If people ask for custom orders, i will warn them ahead of time that it may not match =)
