Thread: What style house is your shop?
Large General 2 and a small General (think it's a 2 - the one with 2 big oval rooms). Lighting is horrid in both of them, and I've just made a habit of telling people to use the examine window to see the real color on displays, or to use the alternate display on their inventory to see how they look wearing the items. My biggest problem with the lighting in the general houses is it's impossible to even out. Without the personal light, everything is grey, with the personal light, the walls and ceiling are so blindingly bright you still can't see anything unless you go to first person and stand practically on top of what you want to look at. Adding torches, of course, turns everything yellow.
Since I'm on Talus, I don't have an option to change housing styles, though from what I've seen even if we did get Corellian housing, they have the same lighting issues - they're basically the same houses with different textures on the external walls.
Kinda interesting to see noone so far is using Tattoine style houses.
I'm gonna be using a small Tattoine house style 2 to start with. I like the big room you enter right from the start and then you have the little small hallway to the back where another little room is that's perfect for craftingstations and stuff ![]()
To bad it's a bit small though, otherwise it would have been the perfect shop i think.
Problem is I can't build the house where I want atm because some lair was stuck inside a big rock, I really hope this patch thing makes that lair go away so I can put upthe house.
I've got a small Naboo style 2 now, but once I hit master I plan to expand to a medium Naboo because it's really got the nicest look and layout for a tailor shop.
Tatooine houses are the only ones that cast any light on vertical objects, so far as I can tell. I wish I could get something as cool as either of the Tatooine Medium houses. But I can't, because I won't live on Tatooine. I live on Rori.
Sunday night I'm upgrading from a Small Generic Planet House style 2 (two small round rooms plus an oval showroom) to a Medium Generic Planet House (two small rooms, two oval rooms), to have an extra showroom.
And yeah, I use a ton of Torches. And hate them. Never mind the smoke, the light is orange colored, which I have to plan for when I pick the colors for my clothing displays. Ugh.
The medium Naboo has the best display area, especially in how the clothing can get framed by the pillars and/or be arranged around them. However, the large Naboo has ... -that- staircase! Perfect for a fashion show!
Probably going to have formal wear and vendors in the main room, with field and everyday departments downstairs.
I also moved from a medium Naboo House to a large one. I am also the merchant for my PA so I need the space. One of the rooms holds Ekai Armories, our weaponsmith's vendor, and another holds Aadilya's Advanced Droids, our droid engineer's vendor.
I love the large spacious grand room with the sweeping staircase, where my shop is held and run. But I do agree, the lighting could be much better, the torches can only help so much.
I have a medium Naboo house, which I have gotten several compliments on. ![]()
I have my field wear/men's wear displays around the curve in the back of the large front room. In the center of the room, I have two couches and a table, and some plants scattered around the room. I also have two torches placed directly in front of the pillars, so that they blend in more. I put two chairs and a table off to one side for an additional seating area. My vendors are by the door at the bottom of the stairs, somy customersget greeted when they enter, and afterthey come in and look around, they will see the vendors standing there before they leave. ![]()
I have all the packs displayed on the stair landing, so people can see what each one of them looks like. And all around the curve of the balcony, I have my ladies' wear displayed. Lots of combinations for entertainers and more formal occasions.
Due to the item limitations, I don't have much in the rest of the house, but that's ok. I keep everything out where even the most casual drop-by-shopper will see my best displays.
I noticed that because I have so many items in 1 room, from far away (3rd person view), everything looks low-res....as you get closer to the items, they end up looking the way that they need to...just curious?
