Thread: My own far-fetched vision of what tailoring should be like

That proposal sounds like way too much work for an already extrremely busy tailor.

I want the bio enhancements and socketed clothing to WORK.

I wanna see necklaces when I make them..

I would love to see some more schematics for clothes, bandages, saddles...

I just don't want my profession to be more work and less fun, though the animations to look like you're sewing would be fun.

Pardon I was basing this on my own vision of the game as it is existing now. Which BTW the only thing BEs helped you resist was bleeding. None of the other Tissues added to base resistances. They all added skill bonuses. So the redundancy there would not exist. Nor do I think it would exist in the future if I read the boards corectly about what is coming up for our Symbiotic partners.

-------------------------------------------------------------

They are revamping theentire tissue line for BEs... adding some and taking them away. Currently thereIS bleed defense, melee defense and stun resist tissues...they just don't work. Those will be fixed and others will be added; and things like the Chariga tissue which adds to business accumen, a skill no longer in the game, will be removed.I don't know where you got your list of BE tissues if you think there are no other resists,I can't imagine them giving tailors resists that don't come from BEtissues or skill enhancers.Try this website: plaza.ufl.edu/spalumbo The stun defense comes under the melee defense, it just got left out on that list. But that's a good place to start for some good info on bio-engineering.

Speaking as a tailor/bioengineer, I can imagine it, and quite easily. Clothing should have inherent resists -- one of the primary reasons people wear clothes is for protection, and all clothing offers some minor protection... even the most flossy bikini.

The bioengineer bonuses are great (well, they will be when they work), but neither they nor the skill enhancers should be a prerequisite to create clothing with some in-game bonuses.

It is not the function of the tailor to add pretty colors and shapes to a functionality crafted by the bioengineer. We should be engineers in our own right, not design consultants.

If that treads on my fellow bioengineers' toes... my heart bleeds.

you are missing one critical aspect of tailoring : uniqueness

at the moment all master tailors are the same, quality is the same across the board 4 sockets etc thats it - there is not a single situation where 2 people can compare clothes and say... "look at the color on this, look at the design". tailors need more customisation options and i'm not talking about more colors (pure yellow pls )

i would like to see this added to tailoring - interchangeable parts and textures.....yes giving clothing textured looks based on the resources u used. interchangeable parts such as switching the tie on the suit shirt for a longer one , cutting the sleeves off etc...don't think it's too far fetched but probably tricky to implement and even worse...this aint gonna be a priority for the devs

i want to get into the position where people say: wow i want that look, the only guy i know who does that is...blah blah...there is no real skill or challenge to being a tailor atm which is kinda sad.

with the removal of decay im hoping soe have something up their sleeve- ability to add specific resistances to clothing (through the careful selection of appropriate resources)

Vandessa, this post is so right on in many ways. For one, I hate to crank out clothes only to find that the client doesn't quite like the color because it doesn't match something. At present, I have them give me the garment I have to match so that when the color selection comes up, I can match it the best I can. It is tough sometimes seeing that we will have 250 colors on one thing and maybe 44 on another.

I love the hologram idea. Something to get their approval beforehand before hitting the create button.

Your ideas here are very sound and I hope atleast some are incorporated into the game. I would like to add one thing. Insted of bonuses against damage of attack, it would be nice to add plus bonuses as we were intended to have. Like make the drops for the attachments to sockets alittle more plentiful and make them work. Fix Bio Engineer so that we can buy the buffing plus bonuses that can be incorporated into our cloth and add them to it when we do a factory run or just make the cloth individually. Armor has defense ability. Clothing should have offense ability but also degrade not only because it is cloth under attack but because of use.

I like it all except the idea of how we obtain the dye colour. It is already a trial to match colours (um that shirt isn't quite as dark blue as the pants), suit tastes (I know ive forced you to make 6 jackets but I just havent seen a shade I like with my eyes) and complete wardrobes (what? the gloves cant be mauve like my hotpants???). Do all tailors a favor and leave colour as it is, but since we cant experiment anymore (unless the great idea of getting decay works out) just change the skill line title to dyes. otherwise, all great ideas.

I would like to see quests/missions for tailors, to getsome unique schematics for clothing.Maybe these unique schematics have a limit on how many of that item you can make. It would make somerare clothing and give tailors a chance to explore and go on some meaningful missions/quests and so forth.
