I have a copy of the site from October 17th 2004 so I also have a bunch of the articles etc available if it is of any helpEDIT: In fact, it seems all the articles up to that dateare intact and easily copyable off my local copy of the site. I'd be more than willing to assist in any way possible with making these available.Message Edited by Beladan on 10-07-2005 04:57 PM
Thank you for e-mailing me this!
It will take me a while to figure out what to do with the resources on this site. I'm looking into getting my own website, and hosting there. But it won't happen overnight
Thanks for your support everyone!
You're so welcome. I've thought about taking up tailoring since forever (Obviously why I archived the site nearly a year back!)
I;ve finally taken the plunge and I spent the last few weeks heavily reading the site and thinking about all the great info I found there. I'm so pleased that in some way I was able to keep it going. I sure hope you do get a site up. I look forward to seeing it evolve from what we had, which was great, to what we will have, which I am sure will be exceptional!

Okay, I just can't let this happen unchecked, you know. Aside from the FAQs on this forum, SWGTailor is the best Tailoring resource out there IMHO.
NJ, I can give you free hosting but it depends a bit on the amount of bandwith the site generates on average.
If you could get hold of the last copy of your site's directory and database file, I'm sure we can recreate SWGTailor in all it's former splendor, using the same portal system that it employed. As long as it's all PHP and MySQL, all would be well.
Otherwise, we would have to recreate from scratch, using the bits of data that everyone can provide from here and there. We can still use the same portal system (you'd have to tell me what it was though, I forgot
).
Naturally, reinstating the forum is not a problem either. I remember it used PHPBB? If you could get hold of the directory and database too that would be great. Otherwise, from scratch again...
I read that the person hosting it beforeis unreachable now... Maybe you can get in touch with Hastypastry.net? Perhaps they have it on backup somewhere... My guess it the person that hosted it for you got laid off and his files deleted and e-mail address discontinued? If you have no luck, I could give it a try also...
Aside from hosting, it's also no problem to point the domain swgtailor.com (or swgfashion.com as I read) to the new location of the site ![]()
Anyway, let me know if you're interested in recreating SWGTailor. Specify your bandwidth usage if you know it, because I would be hosting the site privately. On a dedicated server and line, butI don't wantthe connection to bog down too much (because I would have terrible lag in SWG
). But I suspect that the site is low-bandwidth (despite it's popularity) because it was mostly text and such and little images. Most stress would be on the database and that's not a problem at all ![]()

Thanks for the support!

Most people didn't use the forum, and most of the articles are from a good year ago (not much new since I retired) so I just got the backup by e-mail. The trick is getting a hosting space that will be "catchy" (I already have some webspace) - and having the time to do it all. Swgtailor will be back, but it will just be a while until I find the time and energy to invest in it.
Thanks for the support!
You didn't own the swgtailor.com domain name?

Anytime! Anything for the Tailors ![]()
Anyway, offer is open indefinately. I have hosted several sites on my private server successfully, even ones with significant bandwidth use. If your host doesn't support PHP and/or MySQL or if you need a hand setting up that portal system, let me know ![]()
Oh and, as far as the domain name swgtailor.com is concerned... I don't know if you're familiar with the proper channels, but one can look up who owns it. Current listing states an e-mail address of your former contact's (shirow) at some other domain. Maybe you can get in touch with him via that to possibly transfer the domain or agree with him to have it point to the eventual new location of the site.
That is, assuming you haven't gotten in touch with him already, as I see you just got a backup via e-mail... Very good ![]()
Next time I work on a site, you bet that I *will* own it. I'm looking into hosting now. With any luck the swgtailor domain name has been released and I can use it.
