Thread: No biz for tailors? Economy problems with the mission nerf

Yep, clothes are luxury items, and are desperately needed as there is a lack of things to spend on. I've seen a dropoff in clothing sales this past week, but mainly I attribute it to 1) The "jedi" craze 2) mounts 3) player cities 4) The fact that I moved into a new house and haven't had the time to restock the vendor well. People are pumping insane amounts of money into those persuits but this I believe is temporary. They'll be back with lots of cash to spend.

I had a couple of customers yesterday who were "policitians" and wanting new outfits to match their new persuit.

Despite what others have said, I still think that clothing decay will be a big net positive to us, as people will start buying "spare" clothing, and "replacement" clothing (and repair kits, I've loaded up on those). The hard core combat types that are threatening to go into battle nude are the exact same ones that want all the combat bonuses so they are still going to be compelled to buy and wear. I would not worry about that in the slightest.

As far as mission payouts, I'm not even that big of a combat stud (carbine 4, ranged support 3)yet a friend and I were raking in cash last night running imperial faction missions on Talus. 3k-4k/mission each plus tons of fp.

Anyone else worried about this?

I sure am! Sure people were making good money with kunga missions before but considering how much money cities are costing that would have been all the money sink the game needed.

With the exception of bio-enhanced clothing, all clothes are LUXURY ITEMS. What happens to luxury item sales when people's income is taken away? Simple, luxury items are not bought and vendors loose business. Only items of neccessity are purchased when financial situations are tight.

All of my customers are people who have some spare cash to throw around and they use it to either get new threads or invest in a bio-enhanced garment.

I am certain I can kiss my business goodbye. I am very unhappy with the mission nerf, not only have our costs gone up but the economy is going to be choked.

Phew, well you guys were right, the mission nerf hasn't effected business so far and I actually made a lot of sales in the past few days despite a two week slump in sales pre-patch. I feel so silly!

I have seen a slight drop in /tell sales, but only due to mounts being insanely priced, and EVERYONE having to have one. I really don't worry, as I just opened my third shop, and I am getting sales there :smileysurprisedmiddle of Nowhere until the shuttleport ) BUT i think the 30 day vendor limit has also encouraged me to stock my vendors more fully. before i would do up to 100 items, and have to relist about 20 every time, so i never wanted to stock up. now i have almost 200 on one, and will get more on the others as soon as i feel like being crazy again.

If you have a good selection (ofblack clothing, mainly LOL) you will get repeat customers anyway, and I have people send me tells asking if i have added anything since they were there 2 days ago.

Also, I like to trade noobs a complete set of clothing for their melon, and then give them a little spending cash. It makes them feel like they are part of the game, and helps them get into their character more. and sincethey haven't been really influenced by what everyoneelse has, i have fun making them clothes that I think look good, instead of just the normal stuff. and it builds a loyal customer base.

Even though I may have to adjust my prices, I'm glad for the change. The value of the credit was getting ridiculously close to worthless. At first I looked at cities as a bad thing, but that huge money sink taking money out of the economy is a blessing. Decreased payout is also helping increase the value of the credit. Yea it's cool seeing XXXk credits in your account, but I would rather see a more stable economy personally.

Just my two cents.

I've been working on sales perks. I am selling full "Movie Suits" for 10k each. My bestseller right now is the Jedi Gear set.

I notice a pattern,,when something new and exciting is available ,,my sales drop,,when the newness wears off sales pick up. When GCW is raging, sales drop, when its not sales are up. When nerfs happen, sales drop, when we adjust sales go up.Prime time hours for exp groups sales go down, solo hours, sales go up. See the pattern?

We provide pleasurable hours of shopping to pass the time till there is something else to do more interesting, and a place to spend those "hard earned" credits. After all what else is there to buy once you have armor and a weapon?? Not much!!

For some reason, I've been getting more sales in /tell lately -- as usual, Scylla is completely bizarre.. *grins* On the other hand, I'm also starting to sell Christmas wear. It's only November, yes, but folks are requesting huge groups of red/green/white-wear for early parties. Time to pop up a new vendor for that, it looks like...

There was only one type of mission that was nerfed I believe, and you can still get some that pay as well.
