Thread: Tailor colorization: best case scenario/worst case scenario.
Ok, hold on just a second. This whole thing to me is getting way way outta hand. Just take a step back from this whole mess (yes, it is a mess) for a second.
What most tailors that favor post-creation colorization seem to want now is come INCREDIBLY complicated system. A system that sets up tons and tons of pre and post conditions for when something can be colored, and by whom, and what they need to do to do it, and all kinds of limitations on what one person can do, and not another, and how it affects the piece of clothing afterward, and so forth and so on.
Is such a thing really rational? I mean this would likely take months of effort to implement, there is no consensus at all for how these details would be handled, no matter how it would be done it would cheese off a big percantage of people who are nominally in favor of it, it's bound to be incredibly buggy (something the tailoring community has largely been spared up until now). Is that REALLY what people want? Do you guys and gals really want to open up that can of worms? Is this issue really worth that much effort and pain? Suppose we could trade this feature off against two dozen new schematics. Would anybody still be in favor of it?
... of Armorsmiths.
Which is no different than the dye idea, because only the best colors could be made by master tailors yet again, and I also said the kit should be used once. So it's basically a rehash of what I said, which they'll all jump on for a no.
They obviously didn't read my posts thoroughly, because I mentioned how I'd always rather work directly with the tailor for my clothing, color and all, instead of buying the clothes and the color kit, but like ever offended yatta-yatta-yatta person because, you know, they're getting ripped off dammit and they're gonna complain about it, they read what they want to read. Happens on every board.
As for the decay issue, I read the boards while it was proposed, thanks. I read posts from people crying to have clothing decay cause, you know, they wanted people to come buy more clothes. Yes, not everyone wanted it, but a lot did, and they got it, and for a while some stopped buying due to the decay. So I have read the boards, thanks.
As it is, it was only an idea, and at least I suggested tailors make it. But at this point, I'd love to see dye kits go to Master Artisans if they were implemented, if people are going to get so huffy over them. Seriously, people. Like I said before, the majority will still prefer dealing with the tailor and getting clothes done personally anyway. Worst case scenario would besomeone having a hard time finding what they want in the color they want or getting hold of a tailor to make it, so the dye kits would be their choice.
Watch this get one-starred again, cause people are pissy like that :-D

You guys called for decay, you got it, and from what I heard nearly put a good deal of tailors out of business because people stopped buying things.
And from what I heard the earth is flat and dinosaurs still exist somewhere in South America.
Please don't come into a tailor forum and tell us about our business. Last time I checked my bank account it still had more money then I could possibly spend in it, and much of this was made after decay was implemented.
The point is not to invent new ways for tailors to make money. In fact, the financial impact of the colorization issue is probably the least important consideration as far as I'm concerned. What you as a customer should be a lot more concerned about is whether or not you'll be able to purchase the clothing that you want at any price, in the future. If enough tailors get cheesed off, tailoring in a month could become what cheffing is today. A shell of a profession that appears on the skill tree but one that nobody actually plays because it is unplayable.
