Thread: Bio Ready Clothing: What skills do you need?
I think this is what happened.
Back in betathere was Artisan Customization and Artisan Experimentation. Artisan Customization was Dom Arts only mod where as Experimentation was in both Dom Arts and Eng. Artisan Customization was taken out in beta because tailors hated suddenly losing the ability to use their nice colors on their new schematics when they reached novice tailor. You had the full color range for Dom Arts clothes only if you were Master Artisan (the +55 master colors for Dom Arts schematics were in Master Artisan) I'm almost certain there were no Customization mods in Eng, though I could back and look at my old skill progression screen shots..
When they reworked tailoring in beta the colors got spread out through the Dom Arts line and Tailoring (that's when the +55 master colors disappeared)but we still had Artisan Experimentation and could make socketted clothing in the Dom Arts line without needing Engineering. (Also useful to note, Engs could make better guns if they took Dom Arts because they had more experimentation points to play with)
I think when they took out our useless experimentation, they may have also taken out the experimentation mods from the Dom Arts line and that is when the number of socketts we get in Dom Arts clothing became tied to solely to Engineering.
"I'm not sure if I'd call this a bug, but it's definately annoying design. A tailor should not need Engineering knowledge to build sockets into the easier, lower-level clothing."
I agree. I'll add this to the list of tailoring issues and see what we can do to get it changed.
Anabelle, I think you are right with it being a change with the experimentation. I got sockets back as and artisan, and continued to add sockets into tailor while filling the tailoring forth column. I am a tailor back from the begining of the game, and rember having some of the only socketed items at the time. So, if people are not getting sockets shortly after novice and have filled thier artisan tree, then something must have changed.
If you want sockets quick, I would go after the Tailoring Experimentation (forth) coulmn.
