Thread: Elite-Elite Tailor Schematics
I DON'T know what the new schematics will be or when they will come into play, but here are my guesses and well hopes too. :-)
1.] Other dance outfits from Jabba's Palace. (They said new dance outfits right? I'm assuming these are it)
2.] A couple new dresses from Episode 2& maybe Leia's dress from ANH
3.] Capes like Lando's
4.] Some sort of remake of one of the Handmaiden dresses
5.] Some sort of remake of one of the extras at the Nightclub scene (we already have the shorts)
6.] More hats since everyone is asking for them, although not sure which ones I would want in the game from the movies, nothing really stands out
7.] Padme's Jewelry (My wishlist item)
If you read about player cities (in development), they talked about introducing new elite-elite professions, and also adding more schematics for clothing (for dancers)
I seriously doubt they would only make certain professions elite-elite
Elite-elite makes some sense for Civic Planner, which is going to be a very small market for a very specialized crafter (not a lot of sense, but some). It makes no sense for clothing, and certainly not enough to justify another 16 skill boxes. New schematics should be rolled into existing skill lines.
Exactly.
The Elite Elite are subbranches of other elite professions.
The archetect builds houses, furnature and industrial equipment. The City Planner builds parks, parking garages, grand theaters and such. Both are similar, but also diffrent.
Another one I had heard was a offshoot of the Artisen Engineer was going to be Vehicle Engineer with Starcraft Engineer being the elite elite version. Again, both similar but diffrent.
(with Artisen making simple one person vehicles like speeder bikes and Vehicle Engineer making more advanced multi-person vehicles like the T-16 or X-34).
I'm not really sure what could be similar to tailor but still diffrent.
If they add an elite-elite tailoring profession that's just more clothing schematics, I'm going to be really upset. We're all working hard to reach Master Tailor, and if they add a profession above tailor full of tasty schematics, they automatically make all Master Tailors who don't have the skill points to reach it into clothing dabblers. That would be extremely frustrating.
The only elite-elite tailor profession that would be acceptable to me would be some kind of fashion designer tree where people can actually design clothes based on various templates. But anything like that sounds like it would be hard to code, very hard to do the art for (we already have plenty of clipping issues even with ournormal schems), and devestating to the database. So I doubt that they'd do it.
Any new schematics added to the game should just be granted to the regular tailor tree, or made into schematic loot or quest rewards.

I know we've discussed this in more detail, but to recap my POV; the database storage for four necklines, four sleeve styles, and four button placements (12 items) is somewhat less than for the 64 skins it would take to represent all possible shirtpermutations you could make with those options - and the savings get more dramatic the more elements you add. It's essentially taking what we've already got, piecing together outfits from individual garments, and taking it down another level so we're piecing together individual garments from elements.
I'm not saying it would be trivial to implement, but it's most assuredly doable and probably should be seriously considered.
If they can do it, that would be really cool. That's the only type of elite-elite tailoring that would be worth giving up more of my other skills for.

Building an elite-elite profession off of Tailor would be ridiculous. I mean, it would be awesome if they actually came up with enough new schematics to fill 18 new skill boxes, but it would force a lot of us to drop other skills that we really need (read: Merchant). I think it would be great to just add new schematics to all the existing skills, 'cause then every tailor in the game would get something new regardless of his or her level.
Ug, there's little enough clothing variety to make that adding an elite elite tailor proff would be bad, a slap for us tailors instead of new content like we should expect.
That said new schematics should not be added to our datapads automatically, master tailor or no. They should implement new schematics as quest rewards, or an expensive item you can buy or something. Hopefully not combat quests, or those boring mindnumbing fetch/carry quests, but I have no ideas so it's up to SOE to figure out nice, fun, interesting tailor schematic quests.
