Thread: Hi. I changed my mind about that outfit again. Can't you get it right this time?
Okay. Please pardon the rant, but this is something that needs to be gotten out of my system...and I'm honestly very curious to see how others here might respond to it.
It starts out simply enough: another combatant sees me in the cantina, spots the tailor tag, and asks me to make a pair offactory-component pantsfor him. No problem, right? Since I have a small backlog of requests, I tell him that it'll take an hour or so, and he's fine with that. No problem at all, except that by that time, he's changed his mind about the colour, and has started asking if I'll dance for him if he pays me 10k. Okay. That's a little odd, but hey -- I can sell those pants to someone else, and I make him another pair in the new colour.
By this time, he's gone offline, and will pick them up the next day. And by the next day, he's decided it was camo pants he wanted, actually, in the same colour. So I make those. And then it's the light green that he'd wanted, not the dark, and why didn't I know that? Score so far: 4 items, 0 purchases. This doesn't trouble me, particularly since he's finally quit with the "ur so cute!" emails. (I'm sorry, but I find that a little strange from someone I've barely met, and it's certainly not the norm)
Next day, he sends me an email telling me not to bother with the new pants, since he'd rather shop elsewhere, where a tailor will get the order right. Ooookay. That afternoon he's back again, wondering if he can 'trust me' not to do 'faulty cloths' again. There have been three of those emails since, one of them featuring a complete order. I haven't responded to any of them, since most of what comes to mind is er...a bit snide, to say the least. My temptation is to invite him to shop elsewhere, as he seemed to want to...
What would you do? *laughs* I'm at a loss.
and also i would not deal with this person any more.. thats just crazy
Mayby you should reply with "Don't blame me if you can't make up your *explitive deleted* mind!" then put him on the ignore list. And warn other tailors about him. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...
Really, I don't mind making multiple items to make one sale, but the rudeness this jerk exhibits just burns me up.
I would recommend just sticking him on ignore. It sounds like he's either very loney or missing a few of his marbles...
*grin*
You're a master tailor...unsurpassed in your knowledge of fashion, so ask yourself: What Would Isaac Mizrahi Do?
Slap the git silly and chase him out of the store!
I had one guy who kept asking me to make him2 spec-ops dusters when the ones he bought from another tailor somehow disappeared. He wanted me to make the dusters for free, (why not ask the tailor he bought them from). He wasn't even nice how he asked for it. I imagine he was just a young kid in RL or something, but ... its just rude to ask for free items especially when he didn't buy the items from me in the first place. LOL

I had one guy who would keep sending me tells about furniture prices, and I kept telling him the same prices. Finally after two days he decided to place an order. When I told him the final price of the order, he then tried to haggle my price down. I was pretty annoyed with him already, so I gave him a small discount, he agrees.
Then, some other guy sends me a tell, ordering the exact same order as the previous person and asks me for a price. I tell him the exact same thing as I told the last guy, then he tries to bargain me down lower. I don't offer this guy a discount at all. Then he tells me he'll pay the full price. Uh...but I just offered to sell them to your friend for a discount?
Finally after I was tired of their antics I told both of them I was denying them service and they'd need to find another person to make it for them. Don't need that kind of headache for a couple of measy thousand credits.
This is the exact reason I hate to tailor to mail request. If you want to come to my showroom and pick the color you want (I have almost every tint on display), that's fine. And NOTHING gets made for a customer until they are absolutely sure what they want. I will go over it with them 3 or 4 times in person. If, after an item is made and they try it on, the customer doesn't like it but it IS what they asked for then I will sometimes (not always) take it back and sell it on my vendor for 20% off. Everyone wants something ![]()
Typical conversation follows these lines...,
"Ok.. I want white pants, shirt, gloves and boots... how much?"
"Depends on the actual items. What sort of budget do you have to work with?"
"2k... wait... can you do white pants with a grey stripe?"
"Yes..., one white shirt, one pair of white gloves, one pair of white boots, and one pair of white pants with a white stripe?"
"Uhm... yes."
"You are sure? I am going to start and I can't change the color once the item is made?"
"Yeah. Yeah... 2k?"
"yes... One white shirt, one pair of white gloves, one pair of white boots, and one pair of white pants with a grey stripe. I am going to start crafting now. If you want something changed let me know now, please."
If I get no objections I start crafting. I prefer to do business in person and I have 2 vendors, one for scraps (at 20% off) and one for special orders that have been completed but customers have not picked up yet or for TEF sales. I would say I am fairly successful with this strategy. There are those customers that are not worth the hassle... I would say you got one
Better luck next time ![]()

I know where this thread is going. And heres a new one for you.
Him: Wut kind of place is this
(as we stand downstairs in a large generic house filled with clothing displays)
Me: It's a clothing store
Him: cool
(of course, everything in the entire game is cool)
Him: Can you make clothes ?
Me: Yes, Yes I can
(I guess the title Master Tailor over my head was not obvious as we stand in front of each other)
Him: I need an outfit
Me: Okay ![]()
Him: All white
Me: Okay (thinking: good lord, not another mobster outfit please)
Him: Wut I have on, but with 4 sockets
Him: Can you make sockets ?
Me: Ok. Yes I can, but they are somewhat random, might take a couple tries to get 4 sockets in all the items.
(not sure if they are random, but in my experience they are. make two items in a row, same materials, one has sockets, one does not, some items always have sockets, and some never do.)
Him: How much
Me: For what ?
Him: For the outfit !
Me: What's in the outfit ?
Him: Huh ?
Me: What clothing is in the outfit ?
Him: Ohh...wut I have on
Me: Tell you what, I am leaving for work in about 20 minutes, email me exactly what you have on, and I can give you prices for them ok ?
Him: Cool
Him: L8tr
(I leave for work, and I come home during my lunch, to start another factory run)
Him tell: Did u make my outfit ?
Me tell: (checking my email) I don't see an email from you telling me what's in the outfit
Him tell: Oh **edit**
Him tell: Sorry
(5 mins go by, I get the email-all the items are low level stuff more or less)
Himtell: u get that ?
Me tell: Yes, I will give you a quote and craft them for you tonight, after 7pm cst when I get home
Him tell:k
~Later on-I am home from work,so I quote him his price in a reply email, which is more then reasonable. I do specify that sockets are random , and that if I am forced to make 10 of one item to get his four sockets, that some of that cost has to be passed on to him)
Him tell: how much?
Me tell: For what ?
Him tell: For my outfit **edit**
Me tell: Check your email ![]()
Him tell: Ok cool is that the price ?
Me tell: Yes, unless I am forced to make 10 of one items to get 4 sockets, I will have to pass some of that onto you in terms of costs
Him tell: cool
Him tell: just so you are not jacking up my price because you need money
...... (basically, thats strike two right there)
Me tell: Do I look like I need money ? (I do, but that is not the point) I don't do this to make money, I do this because I like to socialize, and to make people look good. I am not in this for the money (or I would be an armor smith lol)
Him tell: u can never have enough money u know
(ta` da` strike three)
(he wires me the money for the base quote)
Me tell: (as he sends the money, the this tell goes out) I regret that I cannot fill this order for you at this time
Him tell: ......
Me tell: lol of course, just as you send the money
Me tell: one sec
(I send it back to him - and I forward the email proving I did to him as well)
Him tell: **edit** why ?
Me tell: I just can't do it right now, I am sorry
Me tell: Perhaps at some later time we can work this out
Him tell: whatever I know a tailor that will do this for me l8tr
Me tell: Good luck to you
Overall, not such a bad customer right ? My point is, look how complex it was dealing with him for such a simple order (5 pieces, all one color.) Look at his attitude. Don't rip me off tell's me I don't want to deal with this guy if he is concerned with an order that is less then 3k in price.
I guess I am being a snob, but I like dealing with people face to face. I have no issue at all spending 4 hours with one person, making whatever they like and socializing, because that is why I do this profession. I ask for emails on big orders, only so I have a reference to work from.
So I loose his business, and probably that of his close friends (you know, the ones who wont jack him like I was going to) but in the end, this leaves me more time to deal with nice, mature and understanding people.

Funny enough I've never had this problem. Everyone I make an item for is happy with it.
Hopefully i can keep this streak of luck going.
Considering the pithy UXP I'm getting despite the number of people I've frocked up, I don't yet have incentive to craft any more than I feel like.
