I am a novice tailor. With two experimentation points. I can make the novice stuff with colors most people don't have yet so they sell for a whopping 500-700c. I know a person who has formal wear 4 and she sells her stuff for around 700 also. People just wont pay for clothes.

I read the merchant forums. There is a post asking how much money everyone had. Every single one of the weaponsmiths had more than 1 million credits in the bank. I am also a novice architect who can make factories( on ahazi ) I still can't manage to keep more than 15-20k in the bank. And that's with me barely spending anything.

Are yall making money?

I'm in about the same boat as you, though I'm a "pure" tailor (don't have any other high-level crafting skill.) I *am* making money, but not so much that I don't have to keep hustling to sell stuff and cover expenses. Business ebbs and flows, but I've been able to make deceent profits. Just bought a factory, which drained my bank account, but a couple days after that, I've got somewhere around 30k in cash, I believe....

it is gonna take time before the local economy gets better and the cash flows a lot more than it is now... within the next month or so.. more and more people will have the cash and will afford to buy the nicer clothes

I am making money. About 5-10k a day. More than enough to support 2 chem harvesters, 2 food havesters (for fun and for some friends), a wind harvester and a factory. And I chip in on a mineral havester or 2.

My average sale is probably around 275 credits. Goes anywhere from 175 to 475. I sell about 15-30 items on the bazaar in a 24 hr period. I also take about 10-15 private orders each day.

The key is knowing what people are willing to spend more on, and what sells like crazy but just at a lower price. 700 is a rediculous amount to ask for anything less than lvl III or even IV items. (Was a master tailor in beta, and even then stuff wouldn't sell for that, even when people were sitting on the cash)

People will tend to want to buy 2-3 items at once for an outfit. They usually want a full outfit to cost less than 1k. Yes I know we spend lots of resources to do it, but unless its a hot item like a duster, people just don't think a Shirt it worth more than 400 credits.

So my suggestion it to work on turnover rather than big, per hit, money amount.

Things that sell well:
Gloves, Belts, Boots,Jackets, coats, hats, skimpywear, fancy wear, jewlery. Packs well well early of if you can do a rare type.

Things that don't sell well *generally*
Shoes, vests, shirts, pants, headwraps.

Hope that helps.

I've had no problem with higher prices then 700. I was able to sell swoop helms for 1500 credits and could not keep up with demand. Now some crazy guy is making them and selling them for 200 though. Ouch...

Honestly I have not sold an outfit in the past few days for under 1K either. Even when people shop on my merchant they almost always spend more then 1K. Heck I sold a lot of 5K entire outfits yesterday. I even sold a 7K one. If I've noticed one thing it's that crafters are charging a lot less then they could be getting on the market andpretty much shooting themselves in the foot.

Nah, I'm not having that problem.. I'm selling formal3 + 4 clothing for 2-4k a piece. People are more than willing to pay if I'll make it in a nice color for them, or if it's something new/'rare'. Takes me a lot of resources/factory costs to make 'em so I don't think it's an unfair price.

You just have to get the business, people aren't going to come to you.

There are definately exceptions, and alot has to do with which server you are on as well. I've had people complain about having to spend 200 on a pair of sneakers!

Swoop helms are part of that hot "hat" catagory. Same with many of the formal wear. I can say one thing. I've seen a guy try to sell metal bands for 800 each on the bazaar, and its sitting there with 1 day to go. While I've sold 10 striped pendents for 275 each (just 25 resources to make) in that amount of time, and I got the usage XP from them. When you have 10 tailors all making swoop helms cause its a low end item in a week, your golden egg will dry up. Enjoy it now

All I can say is I make enough money to get me everything I want. People respect me for my prices cause I don't charge 50 credits per resource spent (I usually get large tips when taking private orders). I'm getting plenty of usage xp, and I have a monopolized market. (no one wants to do casual they are all beating each other on formal). When I get cloaks and Lukku wraps I'll be making alot more cash and everyone will be far behind me, so its fine if my mangy vests don't sell at any price, and people scoff at a 350cr shirt.

Hehe, I've sold TONS of metal bands for 1000 each on Corbantis.

Yeah, it's all about the server you're on - on Corbantis, EVERYONE is doing field wear, so I sell a LOT of formal because not many other tailors seem to be doing it yet.

I'm working my way through Novice Tailor. I don't put much of anything on the Bazaar for under 500, and I'll go to 3K for 'hot' items. If somebody undersells me, I buy it up and resell it at a profit. People grump about prices, but they'll buy if they want it bad enough. I make enough to keep my harvesters up and running, plus a little extra for miscellaneous expenses.

In Beta, with higher bazaar limits, I was getting 5k each for artisan-level jackets.

People will pay for good-looking clothes, but not if the Bazaar trains them to think that50 credits is enough to buy anything worth wearing. I don't even resell anything that low, I buy and destroy.

i'm a pure tailor and i have no problem making money. the key is to establish yourself as a reliable person and give good customer service. as soon as I got my first factory up i contacted armorsmiths by tell and asked them if they currently had a supplier for synth. if they didn't then i quoted them my prices. i soon had at least 6-8 or more regular customers. by being reliable and friendly they recommended me to others and since then i've had no problems with money. my problem is having more customers than i can handle at most times. in the beginning i made most of my money by selling crates of reinforced and synth. now i have 2 factories and make most of my money selling high lvl clothing.

Still a novice tailor myself. I certainly sell stuff all the time, but I'm really not charging much more than 300cr an item for most stuff (barring things like packs) so I doubt I'd keep myself solvent if that's all I did. I do keep 3 harvesters however and selling the excess resources nets me maintenance fees as well as a tidy profit. Also selling synthetic cloth to armorsmiths is a great way to supplement income (need a factory though).

Yes it's harder to make money than other artisans but not impossible. I like it because it's low pressure. Started a weaponsmith on Starsider launch day and ended up hating it. People alwasy wanted better weapons and I felt pressured into grinding... "Player X is making a killing on [insert gun here], why can't you make it yet!!!" Almost burned myself out after 5 days. I don't mind not being super rich if I can work at whatever pace I choose.

Part of it is a glut of lower level crafters, but if you can make higher end items, you can make a ton ofmoney. You have to read the main boards, and realize that what Holocron says is true, people are making tons of money very quickly. Resources are selling for sometimes over7cr/unit. People HAVE money, and lots of it.Here are my prices, and I've only rarely had a problem selling items.

All Gloves - 800

Cloaks - 4500

Spec Ops Dusters - 4000

Gunman's Dusters - 5000

Lekku Wraps - 5000

All Brassiers - 4000

Hot Pants - 800

Sturdy/Uniform Boots - 1200 - 1500

Ribbed Pants - 500

Bounty Hunter packs - 3000

Spec Ops packs - 4000

Infiltrator Suits - 5000

100 unit Reinforced fiber panel schematic - 3000

Anyhow you get the idea. Most Level III items are 4000, most level IV items are 5000. AND PEOPLE WILL PAY THEM! You just have to make the sale! Get your name out there, talk to people, make some deals. The combat guys have a TON of money, and lots of other types do as well.

The bazaar is junk. Sometimes stuff will go ok on there, but your best sales are going to be meeting people and making them outfits. Then once you have a few customers and get your name out there, make a vendor and you'll be doing just fine.

If you're selling your stuff at low prices, you might as well be running missions because you could make money faster.

Remember there is no decay on clothing. What you're selling them may very well last forever. If you sell for cheap, you only hurt yourself in the long run.

Remember: They HAVE the money. It's your job tohelp them spend it

I'm making very good money. Probably not what a weaponsmith is. But I have one of the first houses on Wanderhome, I'll have one of the first factories (there's a waiting list). I was one of the first able to sell packs and the only one in the galaxy selling military packs and I've made a lot on those out of the bazaar. My other big seller is anything wookie. Since getting to novice I've only made the helms (I try to leave lower items to other tailors so they still have a market), but they sell great. I've done a number of meet in the street complete wardrobes as well. I usually make 2k off of these -- tho I rarely ask that much. But I spend the time to have them try things on. Black thin stripe pants with the red stripe are big big too.
