Thread: Issues with graphics while crafting.

While crafting any type of object, armor or tailoring, I've noticed that there is a significant difference in the way the object appears in the window of the crafting box. Once my ribbed shirts were almost pretty, and I could see the ribs, now they're just a strange looking blotch. This is happeneing with all my clothing, although once it has deposited from the hopper, it appears normal. On occasion, logging out and logging back in has corrected the problem. I'm using an ATI 9700 pro.

I noticed this while crafting in a cantina - while watching all the dancers and musicians, the schematics look like they're made out of about 20 polygons or so (if that). I looked down at the floor, and POOF, right before my eyes they became normal again.

So in short, if they look ugly, try looking at the floor or some other low-polygon area. It may help things out.

The bigger problem is, the quality is also low in other preview images... like say the bazaar or vendors. Its not as bad, but some items like form fitting undershirts are really messed up.

If you click on your inventory box it tends to cause it to switch back to hi detail..problem is once you click on crafting window again it reverts to low detail..back and forth.

But at least it s a temporary way to see what the item will look like in hi detail while making it.

I asked this same question the other night. Someone found out that if you close your inventory window while crafting the schematics go back to the normal high poly count. Works for me. Sucks that I have to take extra steps to make things... Now if I could get my factory to behave and start producing things correctly...

Open crafting tool, make item, get to the color-picker screen.

Close inventory window.

Stare at floor.

Hit alt twice if necessary.

Graphics will be back to perfect, can choose colors, then create the item. Works everytime.

I thank you guys for the help, and am very grateful to know its not just me.

Wow, those extra steps seem to be a booger.. It sucks to have to go to all that trouble, but here's hoping they'll finish soon.

I thought this was an interesting little quirk. I had the datapad open and an article of clothing selected (not sure which one). I then scrolled up the datapad window. As I was scrolling the article of clothing changed back and forth, from good to bad, several times. I know this story doesn't solve any problems, but I still can't figure out why scrolling would change the graphic.

It was the great new optimization code they put in on Monday. You get no performance increase and everything looks like blobs of colored crap. YAY!!! Way to go with the great coding skills.

From what I understand it ahs to do with your FPS. If you're doing anything that lowers the FPS, the graphics go bad.

Hm, going to have to try that inventory window thing. I'd just been toggling my inventory window to show avatar/not show avatar; which would fix it until I clicked another color.

I find this tremendously annoying and have /bugged it for them to fix. I suggest we all do, since it really interferes not just with tailoring, but with looking at any item in the 'examine' window. I presume this is the case with players from every profession.
