Thread: AARG! My BE Panels Didn't Work?!
Please let me know if I missed something here, but has anyone else had problems with simple BE bonuses (no stacking) not making it through the crafting process?
My story: Finally managed to get a master BE worth her salt to make me a crate of nice, +15/+15 camo/maskscent cloth, although it cost me a pretty penny. I made it into panels in the factory, and was eager to set myself (and my customers) up with some clean, simple two-piece outfits so that we get the max bonus of +25.
First thing: Formfitting Undershirt. Uses one reinforced panel, accepted right from the crate, and works fine. Bonuses are preserved.
Second thing: Reinforced Pants. Uses one reinforced panel, and accepted the 'camo panels' right from the crate, as with the shirt. But when I craft the item, the bonuses don't show up on the color selection screen! Aaah! I finalize the colors, and sure enough, out pops a pair of reinforced pants with no bonuses! Whaaa?
Third thing: Paramilitary Camos. I figure maybe there was a problem with the reinforced pants schematic, so I tried another design that uses one reinforced panel. Same as the reinforced pants -- no bonus. Wasted BE panel.
The only thing I can think of is that the pants use synth cloth, in addition toa reinforced panel, but I was under the impression that the issue of bonuses being cancelled out by non-bonus cloths in other slots of a schematicwas fixed, no? These BE panels are pricey, so I don't want to waste any more... whaton eartham I doing wrong -- is there any way to make pants with bonuses?

Yes, my synth was pre-patch. Thanks so much for the explanation. I just hope we don't have to make new batches of everything with every patch, since I have (literally) hundreds of older crates in storage.
By the way, these pants also use metal fastners; do those have to be made post-patch too, or just the synth?
Thanks,

This is a well documented problem covered in serveral (many) threads in this forum and in the BE forum.
Heh, someone always has to throw that in. Consider me scolded! I did look at a few (several?) threads on BE cloth here before posting, but didn't come across this 'documentation,' although perhaps if the search function included posts less than two weeks old I might have.
Anyway, quick question on this: does removing "*all* cloths" from their crates beforehand allow one to use pre-patch synth cloth (with post-patch bio panels), or does the synth still have to be post-patch? I ask because I did remove the synth cloth from its crates before using it ineffectively in the above examples (I had to, it wouldn't go in otherwise). I only put the BE-panel in directly from the crate.
Cheers,
Yes it works.
But 'searching' doesn't only mean using the search funtion but have a look in all the threads in the last 2 pages or so that refer to tissues (or the ones following the last patch).
Guess I'm just repeating myself though, people will always post questions before checking if the answer isn't already there
Guess it's faster to post and wait for a reply than take 5 minutes to look though the posts.
We should really have a long faq with the replies to all that as a sticky.

No, it doesn't. Just tried it with all components out of crates, and lost another BE panel. Please don't give advice on these sorts of things unless you've read the question carefully, andreally know the answer.

That much is obvious. If only I'd thought to mention that I did look at several recent BE cloth threads, but couldn't find the information I was looking for, back in my original post! Oh wait... I did.
Looks like new synth cloth is the way to go; thanks all.

Well took me a whole 2 minutes, the patch was on the 9th, I checked the threads a bit after that date and found this

not too hard to miss with the title. Also, it answers your other question as well, that it does work with old tissues but you have to extract the components before combining them.
Old synth cloth works just fine. I used some that I have had in my factory for months. It's so old that you can't click on the box and have it magically "poof" into the schematic, but that is a blessing anyway when dealing with BE enhanced clothing.
Please don't tell us that it doesn't work. The dozens of bio enhanced clothing articles in my vendor are not a figment of my imagination.
When I started working with these the two pieces if advice I picked up were to remove all items which could be enhanced (but don't have to be enhanced) from the crates before you insert them and to make sure you add non-enhanced componants first.
So far I haven't had a problem, but I also only made half a dozen pieces using pre-patch cloth.
See the thing is, I did read the boards. I tried manually taking it out like everyone said, I tried putting the tissue enhanced items in last like others said. Nada. My only recourse was to vanquish my existing synth cloth (made an armorsmith the happiest person in the world that day). New cloth works fine however. Summation: The Game Hates Me.
Now it's true I didn't strip naked and put alimium foil on my head like someone else suggested but you know, sometimes you just got to draw the line somewhere.
I am getting the impression there are some quirky bugs for specific people. For instance not only can I not use older cloth but I got a new skill box in TK which put me even skill level with my roommate. However for the entire lentgh of time at that level I couldn't get a mission level as high as he was getting. Then I graduated to the next box and wham, all was well again. Only 1 other person I have found to date has posted noticing this problem.
The rest of the stacking bugs have not been answered, acknowledged, addressed or anhilated. When I brought it up in the main boards, the mental image I got was of somebody on the other end sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling, "Nyah nyah nyah! I can't heeeeeear you!" While that's probably not exactly what happened, the complete void of communication on this issue, which has been raised repeatedly, is disheartening.
