Thread: 10 Months Sony and still you cant spend half a day to fix a camera view problem

Yes,

Enough is enough. I have waited and waited like so many others for the necklace problem to be fixed, on day one i can understand more important issues to be fixed first. It was certainly not high on anyones list but if someone had told me then 10 months later it would still not be fixed i would have laughed.

I am not laughting any more in fact I am getting angry by the fact its still broken. Its not even as if fixing will make any large difference to my game play i understand that. Just to me and everyone else that is a tailor the problem appears to be the focus of the camera. While i dont understand the game code in any way but logically all that is needed is for the camera position for necklaces to be moved.

While I am sure their are bigger problems in SWG to sort out you would think that over 10 months someone from Sony's art department would spend half a day to correct the problem. I cant believe that the sony development team is allowed to have a bug on its books for 10 months and not to have sorted it out.

Surely the development process should include fixing bugs over adding new content. I pray someone from sony looks at this issue or someone from their art department would come in early one morning and fix the problem in their own time. Maybe we should start fund raising to pay someone overtime just to fix it.

Please someone take pity on us !!

Well, I see what youre saying, but there are more important bugs than that. It's probably more complicated then a half a day thing, but this bug just isnt at their top priority right now. You can still view it while youre making it, just barely. And if its already made, just dropit in your house and pick it back up and it's totally visible

I think we are calling them "wookiee pillows".

It is not an important bug right now, but as they add more content, they add more bugs which need to be fixed. By not fixing this problem they are basically saying that they are not going to pay attention to the details in this game.

Their priority is Add Content first, Fix Bugs second.. it should be the other way round.

The irony is that necklace previews worked perfectly fine in beta! If I recall correctly, the problem popped up early during release and hasn't been fixed since then. And I agree completely! It's a small bug that really doesn't affect our ability to tailor that much, but it's symbolic of what little attention we've been given.

Does anyone remember the patch that made all of our crafting preview windows show things in low-detail? Everything looked like a giant blob! Thankfully that one only took about a month to fix.

I totally agree with the first poster. I too think it's unacceptable for this problem to continue on and on.They even know what the problem is... thanks to some smart tailor on these boards. I also feel it shows a lack of regard for fixing 'small' problems that would make gameplay better overall. Even if it's just a tiny segment of the gaming population.

I also don't want this on our 'top five' list anymore. It should have been fixed long before now. How many items on our top five list have been fixed???

How many items on our old top five listhave been fixed?

Yeah. I think the necklace bug is symptomatic of a general problem in the game. It's all well and good to focus on "showstopper" bugs, of course.* But the trouble is, they've basically got a policy of allowing all "minor" bugs to remain in place and fester pretty much forever, with no likelihood of them *ever* being fixed.

And even that... Individually, these little bugs *aren't* that big a deal. But players encounter dozens of these individual little annoyances, and they add up to something major. They make the overall game look sloppy, and give the impression that quality control and testing are extremely low priorities. It's a real shame too - the game is generally *very* good in terms of design, but during actual play, you get the unshakeable impression that it's a lot sloppier and more unprofessional than it should be, due to poor project management.

* - Digression: The more I think about it, the more I think the way PvP is implemented in the game inherently *causes* more "showstoppers" to occur. How many weird design decisions in this game are *solely* due to issues like "Well, if powergamers exploit this in the PvP context, it causes all sorts of problems, so we'll do this in a way that's kludgy and unsatisfactory to the other 90% of the community." It's a minority of players that are heavily into PvP, but the PvP tail wags the SWG dog, since their issues are so hard to control.

I have to disagree. It does affect us that it's still not fixed. I have a lot of customers that like jewelry. Some of them like jewelry enough to buy it without being able to see it. Most of them are too uncertain and don't want to risk it. When we got the move up and down commands, I was finally able to decorate a wall with jewelry behind my vendors and high enough up on the wall so people can see there's something there without the vendor being in the way. Now, people buy jewelry from me. A whole lot more than before. But I suspect that some are still reluctant to buy because they don't know if the shade of green in the gem on the necklace will match their shoes. I also still have a hard time making jewelry with these camera problems, because, try as I might, I can't get the trick to see the front of the necklace to work. I can only see the back of it. Just like all clothing items, some jewelry takes colors a whole heck of a lot different than other jewelry. I simply have no way of knowing what my jewelry looks like until I've created it and either worn it or dropped it in a house.

To the person saying just drop it and you can see it...well, it disappears again after a short time once it goes back in your inventory. And that still doesn't fix the problem of needing to see it before it's finished.

For a group of Devs who don't seem to know whether they changed our clothes sockets on purpose orby accident? Yeah...I'd say quite a bit longer than half a day, and if they fix the camera bug with the necklaces, who knows what they'll break in the process? Can you tell I'm getting a little bitter?

Well, when it came time to list my top 5 I think I put the necklace bug at #5 on my list of priorities, I agree more new content (content we actually want, simply being "new" is not sufficient as with the chef garbage) is more important, but I disagree that the necklace bug is unimportant. As I'm sure folks have noticed, it makes selling jewelry *really* difficult either on the vendor or the bazar. Not because there isn't demand for these items, but because most customers really truly have no idea whatsoever what they look like. What's really sad is when you see something like "emerald pendent" on a vendor or bazar. Even the customers who *do* know what these look like have no clue what color it is. Or even if it says "blue" they have no idea whether that shade of blue is the one they want. This bug has the effect of rendering over half a dozen schematics nearly useless to us,so it is, in fact, kind of a big deal.
