I've seen quite a few post with regards to priceing of items and such. I just went ahead and made a generic pricing for my tailored items. Now granted being the of the top if not the top tailor on my server, i could easily double the price and still make out why bother. I just want to gather some opinions as to which items should be adjusted in the below list and why. I am sure this will help alot of other tailors out as well

Everything looks TOO low to me. If nothing else you've got to ask yourself, "Is it worth crafting 3 Syn Clothes, a Metal Fastener, and a Smock, just for 100 credits? No, it's not. If you're not subscribing to pricing things at the level at which consumers will pay (which everyone should be doing, in my opinion), then you at least need to price things to an extent where you'll be spending your time wisely. Heck, I'd buy 100 Smocks off you for that price just to fill my vendor.

Nice list you have there, but way too low. I sell master items for 15k each, 10k for the smaller pieces. Fleshwraps alone take a ton of resources to make. I can only make a few a day unless I would buy the resources.

I don't know much about pricing things because I just hit novice today.. .but I will say that 200 for S. Cloth is inconsistant with 100 for a smock which requires 3 S. Cloth, 30 fiberplast and a metal fastener.

By those numbers alone, it should be 600 + 60 for the fiberplast (@ low low 2 cred/unit) + 30 for Metal.

That's 690 minimum.

Doubling would be a start. Tripling would be more to the point. Pricing so low leaves zero room at the bottom for newbie tailor wannabes to unload artisan-level gear. Heck, Iused to charge1000 cr for artisan jackets for as long as could get away with it, and I could still squeeze 800 out of one on a good day.

150cr for a smock? What?! Theres "good" pricing and there's "plain stupid" pricing, I know what I'd consider that price.

Just coz you have unlimited funds and a factory doesn't mean the rest of us do. Undercutting by 50-90% is insane!

You are entitled to your opinion. I'm making a nice profit if he accepts this order.

How does your situtaion affect me? Should I destroy my factories so we can be equal? Maybe I should come to your house and give you frere resources so we're on an equal playing field? Maybe we should start a welfare program so that your condition in game can be the overiding factor in how the game is run? It's called *COMPETITION*. If you don't like it, that's just plain tough.

Undercutting what? Certainly not my resource costs. They come in at less than a credit. Perhaps there's a "tailoring price authority" i'm not aware about? No? Trade regulators from the Imperial Government? No. What's that? I'm undercutting your *PERSONAL* pricelist? Well pardon me. Send me a complete list and I promise never to go under it. *HONEST*

Undercutting is one thing - that profit-maximizing firms do all the time in real life. What we see in the game sometimes is more akin to "dumping" in economic terms - selling things at a loss, in order to drive competitors out of business.

Now, in reality, dumping doesn't actually occur, because it's basically stupid - yeah, you might be able to drive some competitor out of business, but you'll have to sell your wares at profit-making prices eventually, and there's nothing to prevent future competition.

The problem in SWG is the amount of "free" (or nearly so) money in the game. It's quite possible for a crafter to completely finance himself by simply spending an hour a day on easy missions. And the crafter can sell his stuff at a pittance, because he's not *dependent* on his business being profitable to survive. Obviously, things don't work like that in real life. Henry Ford didn't grind and destroy hundreds of Model T's every day until he could make Ford Mustangs, and keep himself solvent by delivering packages or hunting bears for an hour every day. But that's a feasible scenario in the game.

And if you want to do that, fine, I suppose. But it'd be nice if you think about people who are pursuing their craft *as* a business, and not as a hobby. If you want to play the crafting game as a grind-and-level machine, please just destroy the fruits of your grinding instead of selling them at a loss and taking business away from the actual businessmen in the game.

Sue, I'm not dumping a thing. Someone offered to buy 100 units. I'm offering to fill that order.

My "grinded" items never show up on the market.

OMG you are way, way, way too low! You could sell your raw resources for much much more!!!

I easily sell smocks for 1K on the same day I list them. Level II formal I sell for 2.5 - 3.5K, and Level III formal for 4 - 5K and up!

FYI: They are my own harvesters, my own hides, and my own money.

If you can afford to pay 3 credits per resources, you could afford to get *SIX* times the resources by paying that same money into machinery to do it yourself.

It's not my fault you rely on bazaar purchased resources. The *TOTAL* cost of running my havesters, including wind generators, is 0.55 credits per resource. If you *choose* to buy instead of farm them, it's not my fault you can't compete.

You decided to buy them. You decided to deal with the middle man mark up. Don't cry to me that it's too expensive for you.

As far as my time, I'm making at least 100% markup on my resource costs. That's 100% profit that goes towards my time. I don't feel it's nessesary to charge a 2000% markup just to make the "generally accepted worth" crowd feel good.

You're welcome to continue selling as you wish, don't expect me to match your prices like a medieval guild member.

Oh and about this statement:

Kylania wrote:

It's unfair of you, as a scout/whatever, to come in here and say "It only costs me 1.5cr" and totally disregard all the other costs that tailors have as if they don't matter.

You *CHOSE* not to get any scouting skills and to rely on buying hides. The good thing is that this skill system allows you to get the scouting skills for yourself if you'd like. Once again it's a case of "Not my fault" your chosen skill set isn't as competative.
