So I put a Swoop Helm up on the bazaar.I get an email saying someone had purchased it. Then I just browse the clothing section of the bazaar to see what other people are putting up, and I see my Swoop Helm I just sold, only someone else is selling it, and for MORE!

So I sent the guy an angry letter with some obscenities. Am I right to be angry at him for making a profit off of my merchandise?

This has happened to me in the past, but it's the way of the market I'm afraid. Everyone likes to make a profit, thoughI would only be annoyed if they bought all my products and sold them for much higher (e.g. buying all the packs I had just put upfor sale and putting them up for 7k a peice)

If it's only one item, then I take it they didn't like it, or couldn't wear it, or got bored of it. But if people are allowed to price items themselves then they are always gonna sell them for more than they bought.

I talked to another tailor who said someone bought all her products and sold them for way too much...that would be a time I would be really annoyed. But there is nothing we can really do about it. I would only be really upset if it got me a bad name, but the buyer can view the name of the seller (although i doubt anyone bothers looking)

Yeah, you got the right to be angry, but not at the guy who make a proffit for selling your items to a higher price then you do, but at yourself for not selling the item to a high enough price.

Btw.. you sold the item.. you do not know if he will have any success :-)

I don't think so...

personally, I don't care what people do with the items they buy from me - they can keep it, they can wear it, they can give it away, they can sell it... they can even eat it or use it for toilet paper for all I care... I figure they paid my price, it belongs to them, and they can do with it whatever they wish with their own property...

but that's just me...

Mass buying and reselling is the only defense some of us have against people who like to flood the market with cheap goods. I suppose it's even a win/win situation. You recieve the amount you wanted for your clothes, and someone else sells them off at a profit.

If you'd rather pocket the difference instead of handing it to someone else, just price your items at their asking price in the first place.

Well personally I don't think anything excuses cursing at people in game. I understand why you'd be upset, but think of it from their perspective. They're selling things successfully on the bazaar and then a bunch of items show up that undercut their price and their sales drop. That's fine, that's competition. But so is buying and re-pricing your items. You're making the profit margin you wanted off the item, so what's the difference?

I used to do that with travel packs when I was still at Dom IV, my pack sales stopped after one character moved in and priced all hers at 200cr on the bazaar. At first I got upset at what I considered massive undercutting, then I just realized that her finished product pricing was cheaper than I had been buying materials for. So why shouldn't I just stockher packsinstead?

When your prices make it more profitiable for tailors or other merchants to buy and resell instead of producing their own, what do you expect them to do? Lose money and support themselves by missions? It may be fun for some, but no crafter should be forced to mission for money.

I agree withSunikka, let them do what they want with the item. I personally this it is a stupid way to make money in the game though.

If that's the case then I wouldn't be upset, because they're just being silly. Their listing price is 20 credits, so they're making 180 cr profit each from your items. That's not a very good margin considering that they're also wasting their bazaar slots making such a small profit off your items. I don't understand why someone woulddo that for such a paltry amount of credits. They sound likethey don't have the best head for business so they probably won't be bugging you for long.

Well if you had said that in the first post then I would have simply said for you to move on. This is nothing to get upset about, let alone abuse someone with obscenities in game (which I think in any situation is pathetic)

Buying and reselling is in general a Good Thing, not a Bad Thing, as it encourages markets to reach their optimum prices. Unfortunately, the 25 item bazaar limit is way too small, otherwise it'd actually be possible to make a decent living as the unofficial "Arbitrageur" class - buying items cheaply in locations where that item is in abundant supply, travelling to some planet where they're scarce and reselling them.

When you make your item, put the price in the description.

Odds are if someone resells it, his potential customers will send you a tell asking for the helm at your price. I had the same issue you did and it stopped.

I agree with you. I have no problem with someone buying up my goods (either on bazaar or my vendor) and reselling them. If they think they can make some profit for their time and money investment, more power to them. I have accomplished what I set out to do, and that was to get a profit for my time and investment.

As a merchant, I have done the same thing. (I would travel to another planet on business, peruse the bazaar and see that a certain item, that is extremely popular on my planet in my area). I'd buy the items up, take them to my planet and nearly triple the money because of the supply and demand difference between the two planets. While now, i can make that item, it was a good profit center then.

I'm not ripping anyone off. The person that listed them so low, either learned that at that price they sell like hotcakes and that he could definately raise his price, or is happy with the profit margain. Either way he got what he wanted, and I got what I wanted. Then, being a merchant I took them to my planet, and whoever bought them from me got what they wanted. That's what a consumer economy is.

Now, there are exceptions...but cursing the person who bought them is immature and ignorant. This is the way of the world. It's not evil. If you really wanted to make more money, as suggested above, offer this person a bulk package of these items at that price. If what you say is accurate, he should purchase them, giving you a giant chunk of profit in one fell swoop. If you are wary about giving him that price, then your price is too low, and you should raise it.
