Thread: I can already see a major problem with FS xp

I was waiting for the spaceship to land to take me home, when all of a sudden I hear some guy yelling, "Giving away free gloves and boots 4 sockets." Of course he was giving away clothes to get user xp to convert to FSXP. I have not yet been able to get up the assembly tree to get 4 sockets consistantly and this guy is giving them away!! argh!
I don't know why but it completely ticked me off and I went off on him.
Of course he kept egging me on until I had to log out, out of frustration.

He threatened to report me, as I used the F word several times and tried
to explain what was wrong with what he was doing, but of course from
grinders you always get the same response...
I can see that this FSXP grind is going to be the ruin of the SWG economy.
There has to be some way to take user xp out of the equation for FSXP but not for novice tailors! This has to be addressed quickly.

As far as I've ever seen (from back before there were any Master Tailors on Intrepid all the way through the hologrind), this never has a prolonged effect on anything. It's annoying, but when people actually want clothes they want the selection of a well-stocked vendor or the customer service of a good in-person Tailor. If you've been providing good service they'll come to you despite the availability of free stuff from someone else. (Thus why my shop doesn't sell much in the way of clothes nowadays. 
I guess if you wanted some petty revenge, you could tell all your friends to go get something from him and delete it without wearing it.
About the swearing: if you were repeatedly swearing at me about mild spamming and giving stuff away I'd threaten to report you too. Neither of those is illegal in SWG. I'm not sure what he was doing to egg you on, but I'm sorry you got drawn in by it.

hmmm no need to be FS to make loads of (4 socketed) stuff, just when u get something with 4 sockets, make a factory schematic and run the factory, that's what I do with melee defense +4 black (of course) form fitted shirts already.

Do we even GET usage xp? I thought that was tied to decay and since we don't HAVE decay...

I have never noticed any, but I will be away for the weekend. I can check my XP before I leave and after I come back. I know I have enoug clothes out there that I should get *something* if there is any usage XP.

When I was a WS, the usage xp was so small that I can't see it really being worth giving things away for fsxp.

If there is any, it can't be much. I've never actually noticed getting any xp other than what I've crafted.

Well it's been a loooong time since I accrued any tailorxp (and I'm not grinding FS) but way back (all of a year ago heh) we got usage xp. Can't say if it's still working like that however.

Yes - we do still get usage XP I'm pretty sure. I've had some stuff for sale on the bazaar, and happened to have my skills window up, and I think I did notice a slight bump in XP after I got a message about something being sold on the bazaar.

well, it's not usage decay like you think....
When the holocrons started appearing and people began to grind like crazy, I was approached by someone that needed to do Bio Engineer. Most people won't realize this, but the fastest way to grind bio engineer is to give away all your tissues. Having a tailor or chef convert them into cloth or food additives will essentially triple the xp you get from doing the practice mode.
if you are grinding tailor, then give somone else those synth cloth pieces to have them make something else. You'll get the same benefit that the BE gets. A massive xp jump for someone else using your components.
For the 4 hours it took me to hand craft all those tissues, I received as much FP from a smuggler as it would take to get colonel, and max out my fp. So um... that's why I'm a colonel and a tailor. I really hate pvp, and wouldn't have gotten it on my own.

oh... so selling some tissues would help too. I may do that as well. Never sold them before but I need like 875,000 regular xp for just one box of fsxp
