to ask a tailor to make me 1 or 2 crafter robes for free if I supply the schematic and he or she can sell the 3rd themselves? No flamers just curious.

Most of the loot schematics I get are donated to me, but if the person wants something, I usualy craft the schematic items and give them 2 of the 3 as payment. I then turn and sell the 3rd on my vendor to make a small profit and pay for the resources and components I used. I've seen people ask for really high prices for loot schematic clothing. I sell everything 100k each.

I would do it for a friend, however the HD leathers do cost aswell (different per server of course) so i would only do it that way if i could factory make the aprons, with enough HD leathers on hand.
Otherwise id probably not bother as id not see it as worth the hassle, id rather buy schematics and sell the finished items really.

Factory runs on these are the key for me but as I get given lots of HDL its not a problem. The question is which apron do you want(maybe you just want to profit from the schematic) as its random. Up to today I have had 80% doctor with the rest being chef and architect aprons

I have had ALL my leather, clasps, crystalline treatments and schematics donated to me. I happily will make any item for the person donating such things. I have one or two regulars who drop off bits to my vendor all the time for 1cr each and I usually tip them 100K every so often as thanks.
However, ALL my components have serial numbers and rarely have enough of any one to make a worthwhile factory run(more than 3). I am not sure what I will do when I run out of schematics (have not had any new ones dropped off in a long time).
So, yeah, I think it is fair to ask them to make one item if you give them the schematic. If you can donate the special items to make one, then it could even be fair to ask them to make you a second for free. BUT... I would ask a tailor you knew, and could consider yourself on friendly terms with.

I have all my stuff donated as well and if someone asks me for a an item or two from the schematic I usually ask if they can wait for me to do a factory run of the item and let them pick the color. As mentioned above, factory run is the key. I don't think I've ever had anyone say no. Most people are pretty understanding since the schematic has limited uses. 8)

Just my humble opinion... but ... if you have to ask "is this fair?" then it probably isn't fair.

I will usually make 1 of the items for them for free in exchange for the schematic, but I probably wouldn't do 2. To me, that's not exactly worth it to motivate me.But one item, sure. I mean, I've critical failured in the past with limited schematics and lost a use for it, so if I only have one possible use on a schematic, theres a chance I could get absolutely nothing from it and have it be completely out of my control. *Shrug*

Unless it is an apron that I don't already know the schematic for then I don't do this for crafters aprons. I have no idea of which apron is which unless I can learn it first. No one *ever* asks for the "useless" aprons such as the tailor or architect aprons and always wants a chef or medic apron instead. Now I *could* be getting one of the nice apron schematics in the trade, but there is a good chance it is a useless one, so if I kept doing this I would end up worse off instead of better off. Right now I will check if it is a medic apron since I don't know that one right now. 50+ apron schematics in storage and not a single medic one!

I think it's fair, but I would still only do it if I could factory run the 2 I was giving him/her...

I know! I am running out of storage and I have been trying to do factory runs of things so that I can get rid of some of this leather and clasps. Leather, at least, is dropping so much right now that I don't think anyone has to worry about getting those for right now.

You have me beat on those schematics Momoko, I have about 30 in a pack now. Most are tailor and architect, but I know I have a couple there that MUST be chef, and I'm hoping a doc too....
I have a house filled with leather and clasps as well, with additional pieces in a pack here or there. I really wish those leathers/clasps could stack!!!

I strongly disagree with this, just thought I'd mention that. I think it's pretty admirable that he's asking us first, instead of just demanding those aprons for free.
By the way, I think it's pretty fair. I do this quite often for a friend.
