Thread: Do most of you tailors buy looted schematics?

Normally all my looted schematics come from friends who have no use for them. Since they can't do anything with them they just give them to me for free and they don't care if I make a profit. I have NEVER bought schematics... heavy duty leathers, maybe once or twice, but again they are usually donated from friends.

Recently I had a run in with a guy who wanted 150k for a Lightweight Military Pack schematic, I told him I still had many on my vendors and I wouldn't buy it from him. He then said "F it, 75k then." At that price I still had no interest in buying it, and I told him that. He eventually asked me how much I sell them for and I made up a number off the top of my head like 200k and he proceded to call me more obscene names. /addignore time

My question is do any of you actually *buy* your schematics? If so how much are they normally worth?

I tend to get given mine by guildees and friends etc but if they come up at the right price I do buy em I see a lot at the 100k mark butI have bought between 5-50k. I tend to get a lot too in my famous deals my PA looks to mefor all sorts of things including info. I sell my schematic packs at 200k and they do move One guy had some on his vendor for 350k lol yeah right and i have see buyouts as high as 800k which is just plain mad.

I suppose the real measure is one how desperate you are for it and two what you think its worth to youI tend not to go above 50k.

I get all my looted bits from my guild either for free or if its a noob giving it to me i tend to tip them up to 50k for schems. But then they all get discounts on orders i make for them and often if it is something that they would find usefull the first item i make with the schematic they get for free.

I get a lot of other people offering me components and schems but tend to tell themI have too many and give them names of other tailors I know.

i get HD leathers and Crysytaline clothing treatments off the bazaar (seems to be very common to get 6x same serials on there on HD leather which is good enough i guess)

Schematics i get for free, pay upto 50k for them if they are on sale tho

I usually cruise the bazaar for both schematics and the leather/clasps/crystal treatments. You can get them for 5k - 6k credits. As such, if someone brings me one, I usually tell them this, thank them and offer 10k for it. I'm willing to offer them a bit more for delivery. But I have a backpack full of extras now. and a house full of leather and clasps. I price them at 500k each, except the dance apron which I sell for 150k (Dancers don't make money) or 300k with +25entertainer healing tissues.

Yes that's very expensive, but Composite armour is selling for 1 million per suit. Our economy is inflated on Gorath and we just deal with it as best we can. I love going to Testcenter and seeing the price drop. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy that I can buy so much with just a few butterfly missions.

The best thing to do is check the bazaar constantly. Go and look at the sections where you are most interested. Clothing Attachments, Generic Components, Generic Items, Chemical Resources are the ones I look at all the time. I love finding a few interesting tapes that no one might care about, then putting them on my vendor. It's amazing how happy a customer is to be able to browse some skill tapes and clothing for them at the same time. Lots of customers are looking for +1 or +2 tapes of a specific type to eliminate a bad alternate mod on a skill tape.

Mine are all given to me by friends and guildmates. Same with the HD leather, clasps and such.

I don't belong to a guild currently, so I have to buy my schematics/loot components, but I usually can find the loot items cheaply on the bazaar and will run across schematics in Auction, but I usually won't go over 50k for the schematic.

With this current Jedi grind everyone is doing the themeparks. Jabba gives 2 schematics and I was lucky to get 2 tailor ones. But I check the bazaar everyday because you can find plenty of them there for 6k.

I've never really bought a looted schematic either. When I get asked what the schematics go for and what I'm willing to buy it for, I don't really know what to say. I get most of my schematics from friends or regular customers for free. My friends will usually give them to me because they know I can put them to good use, and I'll have customers that I work with very often that get them, that will also offer them to me every once in a while.

If someonetries to sell me a schematic, I usually try to make a deal with them. I will make one of the items from the schematic, completely for free and with my own ingredients, in exchange for the schematic itself. That way, they get an item they can sellfor however much they want, which is easier to sell than the schematic itself, and Idon't have to pay upfront and get to use the other 2 uses. Im not getting a full schematic, but Im still getting some uses out of it and they end up posessing an item they can actually use that would probably end up selling for the same price, if not more, than what they are trying to sell the schematic to me for. In the end, we both win.I mean, they can't really do anything with the schematic itself but use it as a decoration and they are very limited in who they can sell it to. At least this way, they will have a useful item they can do whatever they'd like with, whether keep it for themselves, or sell the crafted item on their own time to get their money. I mean, if you can get schematics for free on a regular basis, you aren't really very interested in having to pay large amounts of credits up front for one, when you already have a pile of them waiting to be used. However, if theres a schematic Im short on, I'll usually try to work out some price with the seller, though Im usually clueless on an exact price when they ask me for one.

Now that they have been out for a while, I have a huge supply of heavy leathers, crystalline and clasps and also schematics. Very rarely do I need to buy one. If I do buy one, it's okay because I have had so much given to me that the cost is nullified.

For some reason I have a huge stock of every schem except the ws toolkit. I finally found a good auction and bid on it. The auction was set to end at 6 pm central. I watched the auction carefully and I won. Someone threw in another bid almost an hour later. Turns out the person that ran the auction lives in some part of Canada that doesn't observe daylight savings time, so he gave it to the other person. I've been bummed all day about it. They need some kind of SWG time, so everybody's working from the same base time or something!
