Thread: Making clothing can be dangerous!

Here's a funny thing that happened to me the other day.

I was in the "back room" of a medium corellian house that we use as our retail outlet. I had my droid out and was making a bunch of clothes so that we could restock the vendor for what had sold over the last couple of days (ok, ok, more like the last 4-5 days, I'm WAY behind). Right out front of this building is a spawn spot. Usually gubbers and durnis and other weak critters, which is actually great since it's a great source of hide/meat/dna. On this particular day though, some mottled wrix spawned (ooooooh). So anyhow, I'm making clothing inside the building, and all of a sudden the "combat music" starts playing. I hit "peace" a bunch of times, but to no avail. I move to the furthest part of the house away from the spawn, but no dice, combat music still playing. Ok, this is bad. I can no longer craft because I'm "in combat". I can't logout, I can't call my trusty kahmurra and have him go destroy those wrix, or my probot, I am really stuck. I try to put on "mask scent" and escape. Nope, can't do that while fighting. Grrrr, now this is really pissing me off. So I stick my head out the front door. GRRRROOOOOOWWLL. Ok, bad idea, retreat. Think, think think, can't think of anything to do, so I try to make an escape. I walk very slowly out the front door, keeping my back tight against the front of the wall. The wrix rushes torwards me like I'm a chew toy. I get off a quick "bleed shot" hit it, and run as fast as I can back into the sanctuary of the house. But this time it follows me in! I retreat back into the back room, and put up as good a fight as I can, hitting it with a couple of "action shots" getting the wrix's health down to about 50% before it incaps me. So then I wait for it to slay me. Nope, it's now going after my poor little defenseless crafting droid "zaphod". Oh no!!! Not my droid!!! That thing cost me about 15k but more importantly is filled with expensive tissues and is indespensible for me. Fortunately though, the DE who made it is a master and added some armor to it! So the wrix hits at it several times, barely making a dent in it, and then I notice the wrix continues to bleed! yay! Health drops to 30%, 25%, 10%, it dies! I get up, droid still intact. Not only did I kill the wrix, have a nice trophy (deal wrix corpse) in the front of my store, but also good some really nice hide off it as well, lol.

lol, oh god. I can just imagine my heart beating as some wrix pounds on my crafting droid, oh the horror of it all! heh. one of the reasons I only put synth cloth (mmm synthcloth) on my droid, I'm paranoid of losing it at some point .

heh, and for me it's not just wrixs that kick my butt, those little thug spawns around the outskirts of coronet have been known to kick my ass .

Not to change the subject...but if your droid is killed, do they lose everything stored in them? I thought they arent perma killed? I keep all my special resources in mine!

man who knows, it changes every other week. In the past droids have permadied, and they've also not permadied, currently I dunno what choicethe devs have flittered upon.

man there's so many bugs and other bad things that could happen, I hardly trust the bank for storagelet alone a droid that packs up into your datapad.

Yes, dangerous it can be...lol...i was in my tailoring shop the other day, overt, something I forgot to undo before I logged the night before. As I begin to craft my combat music kicks in...luckily I had my specforce guy out and my pet to watch me, because without them I would not have survived the dark stormie that wanted a piece of me because I was overt. Apparantly alot of people have been doing Holocron missions and these guys have been spawning all around my shop area...lol

Don't try to hide in the house. Mobs will follow you into the house once they get line of sight, even into a private house.

Droids haven't perma-died in a long time. They do get incapacitated, which renders them unable to be used at all for a couple of minutes. Being incapacitated does not erase the storage bay contents - I know, I found out the hard way. Every time a droid gets incapacitated, it loses about 2% condition and it doesn't perma-die until 0%. Hopefully by then the devs will have fixed droid repair tools, otherwise you need to empty it out and buy another one when it starts getting close. (At every 25% loss of condition, it will lose hit points.)

Otherwise yeah, it's the same old hassle we've always had emptying harvesters, except a little less predictable.

Oh, and Arthur - nice shooting, "Tex."

Wait.... do you mean to tell me that droids now RELIABLY hold materials and do not EAT them?

I've been using mine to lug around 8 crates of synth cloth for the past month or so, no problems yet . Doesn't mean I trust the little bugger, I just know it's waiting for something really juicy to eat , like crates of enhanced cloth *shudder* or somethin.

I got stalked into my house by acouple of maulers once, it was scary!

Back then I had a large Naboo house and apparently its maze of rooms confused them becausethey had a hard time finding me. So I'd run back and forth between the top balcony and the basement and spam body shot hoping I'd run close enough to hit something. They had such a hard time navigating through the house that if I was fast enough they couldn't reach me in either of those places. They'd know where I was, but seemed to spendtheir time trying to walk through the wallsdirectly atme instead of using the hallways and doors. If I was slow they'd follow me exactly and be able toreach me. So I learned to run quick.I'd huddle in a corner, heal up, and make another run, renewing the bleeds whenever they wore off. It took over a half hour, but I finally killed the home invading thugs. I looted the bodies, foundtwo Grand Healer's Robes, and remembered being ticked off that they were dropping Master Tailor items.
