I was talking about this with guildmates the other day (it may have been brought up before i dont visit the boards to often so forgive me if it has been) that clothing other than bio stuff really has no purpose.

Why cant the reinforced clothing provide like a 5% resist to damage when worn?

Will clothing ever go poof at zero condition and what can be added to the game to make people buy more instead of running around in thier underwear?

Wouldnt it be nice if we could craft skill tapes and add them to clothing prior to sale to make items more apealing to the buyer? Or if the current skill tapes that are looted could only be applied by a tailor?

I know one thing id like to see is the ability to make faction uniforms (not the generic look) but ones with imperial/rebel patches on the arms and stuff .

These are just some of the ideas i had while sitting around the pa the other day....again sorry if any of these have been posted before , i just dont come to the forums much.

Clothing has allways been worth buying, it just depends what you want to use it for. Beleive it or not many people actually care what they look like in game. And the BE clothing lines have a more substantial use, what doctor would go without +25 wound treatment clothing? many also go for +4 melee / +18 stun defence shirt to wear under armour. BE and CH love the taming and mask scent mod clothing.

Also aparantly the clothing not destroying at 0 bug will be fixed.

Sorry just your tittle of clothing not being worth buying atm kinda irked me, if it wasnt worth buying why would i get 500k+ a day just on clothing sales? (well before i retired from valcyn server)obviously it is worth buying to a good many people on valcyn. And i hope most people on Farstar dont share your opininon on the worth of clothes as im re-mastering it here now

When i say not worth buying im talking about the clothing not having any other purpose than making you look good. Your bio examples are good ones but as i stated above other than bio clothing.

Right now other than bio clothing and looking good clothes have no function....i guess what id like to see is a tailor have a bit more purpose in the game. Id like to see us be able to produce some clothing from our own skills that benefits players without adding tissues made buy another profession. Dont get me wrong i like adding the tissues and seeing the bio guys have a purpose to, a good example of what i mean is the idea above with the reinforced type clothes having a 5% damage protection.

Thanks for the info on the zero condition items, i didnt know it was on the fixing list

I fear the addition of "critical function." Just look at what it did to IDs—if tailoring were to be made "more useful" you'd suddenly find that, say, only tailors could socket SEAs, or only tailors could equip your clothing for you, or…

Will clothing ever be worth buying?

Is this a SWG question or a real life question?

I would like this as well, but the "how" is the big key. It needs to be done in such a way as to not step on other toes. If you make clothing that givesfor example kinetic or energyprotection, you are intruding into armorsmith space, and if you give tailors the ability to manufacture their own bonuses that go into clothing you are intruding into bio engineers space. So it's a careful balancing act. Don't forget that all these other professions are making proposals to exclude tailors as well. I've heard many BE's suggest that they ought to be the ones to make skill tapes that customers can pop into clothing, cutting tailors out of the loop, and of course armorsmiths continue to **edit** about not being able to add bio engineered tissues into armor, which of course would make clothing have much less appeal than it does today.

The idea about having only tailors be able to insert skill tapes is abad one imho. Reminds me too much of the stat migration thing or the droid colorization thing, but of which are pretty much universally loathed.

Me too. It seems to me like the more effort they put into this the more they make the game worse for everyone. droid colorization, stat migration, and all these silly things that suddenly now require our components have not added anything to the game, just made it less fun to play imho. I wish they would just give up on that and instead worry about adding new content. If they would just ask themselves "how do I make tailoring more fun?" rather than "how do I make tailoring necessary?" I think they'd be on the right track.

I'm really hoping we will get to make faction uniforms and such when the GCW gets revamped /crosses finger.

But to answer your first question, I guess it depends on people. The main reason why people don't buy so many clothes is because they don't decay or too slowly, but everyone I know cares about their fashion at least a minimum.

I consider clothes worth buying. Just as in real life, I wear the clothes I feel most good in. And for some strange reason, its never the same clothing. So I also buy alot of clothes. More clothes in game then out game really.. because I dont make a mill each day real life.. wish I did though,

Problems with tailors, imo, is that theres too little clothing in the game. An entire profession, and all u can do is making the same shirts over and over.

Another problem with some tailors, not all.. Is that they make the clothes in terrible colors... Allways wondered why? I like white.. Not bright yellowish.

I don't know about most tailors, but I have a tendency to like bright colors. I find that if everyone walks around in white and black (as seems to be quite popular), it gets really old really fast.

That said, because I prefer to do custom orders, and I prefer fun orders to blah stuff, I stock my vendors with white and black clothing (usually with blue and red as an accent because I loathe totally colorless clothing) so I can focus on the fun stuff and let the same-olds go shop at a vendor. That way, I also make money so I can keep making clothing as I like it.

Of course, my shop doesn't get a lot of business, and instead I just hang around a cantina and people send me tells. I'm quite happy doing business that way. Maybe someday I'll get enough merchant XP to put my vendor on the map...
