Hey eveyrone! So I decided, after alot of thinking, do go with Tailer as my crafter, along with master artisan and master merchant. I just hit novice tailer last night, and need some advice. What is the best item to craft so I can do the grind to master tailer? Is there anything specific I should do?

Thanks so much!

Hehe. I am also a tailor wanna-be with a question. Has anyone made Master Tailor without grinding - I mean, by actually selling all the stuff that they have created? Or is it just too time consuming?

As for your question Riddix - I know the answer is some kind of bandolier /bonkself but I can't remember which kind!

Ribbed shirt to field wear IV. Cartridge belt for the rest of the trees.

Vorpaks?! Another Ranger-Tailor! And you could do it actually. All the items from Domestic Arts clothing line will sell on the bazaars. Then when you get into the tailor trees it can all be sold again. We get lots of new players who are dying for a new suit of clothes. And since most of our non-BE clothing is relativly inexpensive. Its not hard for even new players to get the look they want. Also load up on the tailor level backpacks. People buy them like candy at 500-1000cr per

BTW you wont have any problem getting your own hide and boneI guess

Hey - I know you! /wookieehug

I'm doing Tailor with an alt on TC, and Ranger with another alt, so I am not a pure Ranger/Tailor. But you are right about the hide hehe. I have tons.

So far I am at 2.8,0,0,0 after a few months of sporadic play with no grinding. Patch 10 helped clear out my stock a bit (and a vendor bug during the merchant change which ate all my pants O.o). But I just filled up the vendors again last night and I am wondering how long it is going to take me to sell all that so I have room to make more (this is not a merchant rant btw, don't go off topic lol).

It makes me feel better to know that the newbie tailor stuff will still sell. I will stick to my guns and not wander down the grinding path! While I wait I guess I will practice the "other" tailor skills they don't tell you about. Spreadsheets? You all use spreadsheets??? /boggle

EDIT: And hey, you are a Master CH too I see! I'll have to look you up with my Bloodfin character!

Paks,

Its a while different world in here. You have managed to pick another profession with an adult forum like Ranger. BTW i'll have Ranger again tonight. I just can't stay away. My tailor is my alt. No way i could do Ranger/Tailor that would just be to odd a combo. Chauffeur is a Master Tailor/Master AS/Merchant. And my soon to be ranger exists to feed my alt right now.

NJ has a post, it might in the stickies although i'd have to dig to find it, of what sells at what levels. Check out her website at www.swgtailor.com as well. There are some useful tips on there and the BE guild is a must read.

I've been to her tailor site, its awesome! I remember I found it after getting novice tailor and I had to laugh at the TC journal she has. Even after reading and taking it to heart I still made some of the same mistakes! And will probably make more!

BE is definitely on my list of things to try, but I think I need to ramp up to that level of complexity. The BE guide on N'Jessi's site made my head spin. After I get a little practical knowledge I'll try again.

I've seen a grand total of 2 tailors come to this forum and claim that they reached master tailor without grinding. I remember one of them saying it took them around 6mo of heavy play as I recall. Much much more common are those that come here and boast about how quickly they ground it, and then ask now that they are a "master", how do you be a tailor? lol.

the first time I did tailor it took me about month to get half way to master with zero grinding... My advice if you really want to be a tailor is to not grind too much, have fun with it. You don't have to be a master to make a great looking outfit/uniform. When you reach master you'll be in good practice for all the flashy colors and items you can make... Tailoring is really a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it.

I am for the most part. Only one thing I don't like... *kicks Hungry Hippo shaped harvie*

Actually my problem now is that I like it too much! I decided to stock some belts the other night and made about 25 workmans belts, no two the same, before I regained sanity. Is anyone REALLY going to buy a pink belt with a Turquoise clasp? Er.... I may have the worst taste of any tailor I know!

I've decided to go up casual first, because it seems to have the most fun, run-around stuff, and then go for colors. If I make it that far without grinding I should be all set I think. I think I can make enough poular items in nice colors with those two trees that it will keep me going. We'll see though. I might change my mind when I hit that fourth tier. I'll get back to you next year lol!

Also I've found a cheating way to get rid of excess stock is to play dress-up with my vendors... late at night... when my husband won't tease me... and don't drink too much while I'm doing it or results could be unfortunate... and if you tell anyone about this Fodder I'll have to kill you. /snake-eyes

As far as non-grinding tailors go....you're reading one.

When my hubby was in beta his character was a tailor. I saw what it was like before I was able to get in and when I did get in my first line of skills was artisan. After beta was over and it went live, I started down the same path. Tailor/Pistoleer. I have taken a few months off here and there because of college. I'd really rather not be distracted bya game and procrastinate more than what I already do when it comes to writing 20 page research papers on Environmental Estrogens and the effects on all species. (read: geek alert!!)

So, after playing on and off for over a year I am now at the skill levels you see below in my signature. All of my tailoring is not grinded. I create and sell. If I don't sell, I don't create. In the meantime, I go out having fun with groups of friends, exploring planets and finding stuff to kill. Yeah, it takes longer to get to master that way but instead of mindless clicking you get to have fun!

Anyway, good luck with your newly found calling!

For the longest time I used a combination of mainly access and a touch of excel -- recently dug out my old copy ofAccpac -- nothing like using an honest to god accounting package that fills all my needs
