Thread: A question to tailors about wooly shirts

A while back, I was linked bya tailor I had metto a website that had pictures of every craftable clothing item in the game. Searching through the site, I noticed a shirt I had never seen before, called a wooly shirt. I didn't really think much of it at the time, and as it didn't fit with the type of outfit I had been looking for at the time, I didn't ask the tailor about it. Still, as I began collecting multiple outfits for my character, I started thinking about wooly shirts again, and noticed that I never saw any on the bazaar or on vendors. After a few months of searching, I have seen only four of them, and i own all four. Two werecrafted by tailors and placed on vendors. Onewas been a loot item sold on the bazaar. One was been custom made, but the roleplaying tailor that I ordered it from was unwilling to give me any details as to the shirts rarity. She did lose connection in the middle of the crafting process, but I am unsure whether this was related to making the shirt.

I guess what I really want to ask is, why are these shirts so uncommon? They don't look that bad, and I personally really like the way mine looks on my character. So is there a bug involved in crafting these shirts that causes tailors to crash, or am I simply oblivious to some fashion rule that they break, severing peples interest in them?

Wooly shirts take take alot of resources, including 6 synth cloth to make. It's a very expensive shirt, and looks fairly plain. Compared to other shirts with the same formula (Leather Trim Shirt) there is no comparison to which is nicer. I generally don't make them, as there are others like the Formal Shirt that is almost the same and takes far far less resources.

We don't sell many, because the cost to make them is just not worth the "look"

Good to know, thank you. I'll keep that in mind.

The only one I've ever made up were because I wanted at least one of every item on a vendor.

Best reason to make them is that they're one of the few non torso shirt items that have a "male" look andthat take synthetic cloth in two separate slots. Thus, you can get +25 wound and injury treatment on a single item that can be worn under armor. They also look pretty good.

Female patterns are easier. You can do the same thing with the low cut top and the revealing top.

I only stock one or two just to show that it's a possibililty, but I don't make many, and don't sell many when I do. Bottom line is that it's a very expensive, but very "ordinary-looking" shirt.

I think maybe when I first got casual 4 I made one, threw it in the vendor, and after it "timed out" about 10 times I finally destroyed the infernal item, lol. "not a hot seller" would be an understatement.

I made one last night in preparation for making a +25 Injury/Wound Treatment shirt to be worn under full armor. When I saw it worn I cringed. When the recipient of the shirt saw it on himself he was…less than pleased. Basically, it's just really, really ugly, and not worth what it takes to make (2x3 Synthetic Cloth, 20 Fiberplast)

P.S. He ended up going with the Leather Trim Shirt in black with maroon trim to (almost) match his armor.

That's very good to know! I've been sort of robotically making leather trim shirts as the "default" +25 medical shirts, and was starting to wonder if I should start taking a look at the wooly shirts because of this thread. Guess I won't bother

Actually, the guy that I made the leather trim shirt last night was real happy with it. He was one of these "just make the **edit** shirt" guys who couldn't be bothered with color or style, but when he say it he mentioned "ooh, and stylish too" which made me feel good. I did it in light blue with a white collar.

I guess I'm sort of the opposite. I don't really like the way any of the two-tone boots look, except maybe Thermal Boots. Uniform, High Quality, and Standard Boots are the only ones I personally care much for.

Pithren: It would likely boddle your mind if you knew how many things we have the ability to make vs how many of those things we make on a regular basis. LOL

Hmm, so what would be your top "all bad sellers" outfit?

For me, I think it'd be something like:
Decorative Headdress
Wooly Shirt
Reinforced Pullover
Slacks
Sturdy Boots
Simplified Belt
with a Gemstone Crest necklace to top it off.
Oh, and a Two-Strap Bandolier....
