Thread: Shop decorating...?
To me a shop should speak about volumes about the owners personal taste. Each of my vendor has their own little section area.
For example my Ladies wear section has 6 vendors and most of the decor is done in pinks and pastels. Lots of candles giving it a warm inviting yet relaxtion feeling to it and pink divans. The curved glass tables are stacked in an arrangement to resemble counters. I only display a few clothing items on the walls.
The mens section has a more aggressive look to it. Bold bright colors and a nice suit displayed. Modern tables and lamps. A nice shuttle holo to add a hint of blue light.
BE section as the BE picture and is done in orange hues with an orange rug. All moden decor with bright lights and a metalic feel. Two sets of Bio-enhanced clothing are on display.
Wookie/Ithroian wear go with an earthy feel with torches, brown hues, wooden tables some of the loot items from Wookie World. Add one of the Webweaver blankets just before the vendorsto complete the look.
It was in a three-bubble small Corellia/Generic house:
(1)(2)
(3___)
Room 1 is the entrance; it had my main vendor (Bazzar terminal), some decorative trees (the palm style), and a display of necklaces. At the time, you couldn't see the necklaces in the crafting window so this gave you a chance to see how the colors worked.
Room 2 was my outfit display and special orders vendor (blue Twi'lek, the same one everyone had before NPC vendors came with random attributes). I had some 6-8 outfits on display along the walls along with the vendor.
Room 3 was my custom crafting and living area. There was a nice seating area opposite the door from room 2. My custom-named ("Alcen's Creation Station") crafting station went in the divot in the interior wall where everyone put a crafting station. I put a torch in the middle of it to provide some more natural light and to make it look like it was either working extremely hard to produce your clothing or was about to break down. In the corner where the #3 is I put a small bed with some furniture providing a smidge of privacy.
There were no backpacks hanging on the walls and no crates sitting on the floor. I had everything in my pack, in the crafting station (risky at the time!) or left it in the factory outside.
I've had more elaborate setups, and now I have a pretty simple setup with my vendors in a shared PA hall, but that'll always be my favorite.
Enjoy!

While i'm not much of a decorator i've tried to create a nice shop feeling that flows through the main floor.
All the white chests are labeled as "display stand" to add a little extra flavour
I've uploaded a few images for you to have a look at:

Thank you sooo much for all of the ideas.
I really appreciate it. Those screen shots of your shop were great!

Ok now i have a question: I am currently using a Tatooine Guild Hall for my shop and have all vendors in the main room. When the Bunker houses come out I am plotting to switch to that floorplan instead (I like the idea of glass dividers). So my question is this.. does anyone use more then just the main room (First room you enter) and if so what are your sales compared to the main vs. Side rooms? I am wondering if shoppers really look in secondary rooms.
Goodness I hope that made sense hehe

That is a good question.. heh as I plan to switch to the bunker house too... hope someone can shed some light on the subject
My shop is a medium Tatooine house, separated into areas:
The first room you come to ismy pickup point/waiting area, where I have a sofa corner and "display cabinets" (two elegant end tables, one about 200 above the other, with areinforced combat staff in each corner to make it look like a case) containing my outfit of the week.
The second room you come to is my office area, where I have comfy chairs placed in front of my desks for customers.
The back room on the ground floor is my bar, with seats alongside it and a cafe area with small tables.
The basement is a workshop with all my tools and resources scattered about willy nilly.
The top floor was going to be a display room for outfits, but unfortunately I ran out of space in my house =(

Ourshop is in a medium Generic style 2. Three oval rooms all on one level. We have vendors scattered throughout in all three rooms. Saleson all do just fine.
However, I do have the most popular/fastest selling item type vendors in the first room, and according to my main and oldest profession of Tailor.Four vendors in room #1: All Black, All White, and the main Fashions vendor where all the other colors go and the mall special orderpickup and delivery vendor. In room #2we have five vendors: Jewelry, Accessories (hats, belts, gloves, shoes), Entertainer Instruments and Props, Furniture and Houses. In room #3 are currently three vendors with more planned soon: Spices (My partner has a smuggler alt), BE clothes, and Specialty Tailor items (the quest reward schem items like crafter's aprons, leotards, etc.)
Placement was not random.
Our Cash Cow is the All Black clothing vendor. Merchandise just flies off that one. After adding All White, it comes in a close second. We spend a lot of time keeping those two vendors restocked. So Black and White went in the first main room. Logic dictated the all other colors fashion vendor was also in that room. (On a side note: I was flabbergasted RL this weekend when we went to a new mall and one of the larger clothing stores there was named "White & Black."
And all they had for sale in there was all black, all white and white and black clothes. I had a nice chuckle over that one.) ![]()
To draw traffic into the second room, we put the architect vendors in there, as well as the Accessories. Anyone not there to buy clothes, on average, ends up impulse shopping some clothes anyway once they get done buying furniture and houses.
If they went in there to complete an outfit with some new boots, a hat and a necklace, then they also see the furniture and houses. Kaching.
To draw traffic all the way into the back room and through the second room as well, we put the BE clothes vendor and the other high value tailor items. It seemed appropriate to place the Spices vendor there as well, as most BE shoppers are Combatants.
There is also a very nice display of Kashyyyk quest loots and Clone Armors in that room to promote lingering in the mall.
Not random. All a sinister plot to draw people in and entice them to explore the entire building. Not just the 3 feet inside the front door.

I want to be Barbie. The B!tch has everything!
I am a odd sort of minimalist.
I like seeing what I am doing.
I play in 3rd person veiw so I do not appreciate items in middle of the floor, shove 'em back..way back!
My shop shows this.
Small generic, double oval style
First room rugs, office setup useing factional furniture
Second room hold 9 vendors, all female, all shoeless, 1 each of the playable species.
Thru out the shop the Bestine museum painting are placed for veiwing. {wiating on that despot wreckage yet, grrrr}
One wall in second room is blank, this is where my grab-n-go pack style outfits i stock go on display
So folks know exactly what is in the bag by outfit name, easily rotated out.
that's it nothing fancy, I leave the decor and special stuff for the museum.
think the main point oof any shop, leave vendors open and in veiw, go from there with what you like.
