Thread: Heavy Duty Leather???

Yes I've visited SWGtailor.com and wrote down all the places the leather will drop. I've found 1 so far. 1 Heavy Duty Leather. It's ridiculous that a subcomponent could be that scarce when I can find the schematics so much more easily. I have 3-4 lightweight military packs, 2 exquisit leotard, 1 crafters apron and only 1 freaking Heavy Duty Leather. How ridiculous is this. Sorry but it's been incredibly frustrating not being able to make these new schematics when they're on my person. They're like teasing me. IMO I think Heavy Duty Leather should have been made a schematic as well! I dont' see the reasoning in this esp if crafter aprons need 2 identical from a factory crate. I haven't been able to make a crafters apron since I only have 1 Heavy Duty Leather and since I've only seen 1 Heavy Duty Leather do all of them have the same serial?

I've been posting all over the trade and galaxy forums and telling all my friends about the bounty I have on these stupid subcomponents and still I only have 1. oh God how aggravating is this stupid subcomponent.

*sigh* Alritey, thanks for listening to my rant. Hope this didn't offend anyone or overlap too much with other topics. If they did I sincerely apologize for taking space up in the forums.

I am on the Intrepid server and my guild just got me 8 pieces from one of the big Nightsister mobs. Think it was an elder or something.

I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the advice.

On another note, I personally can't take on NS elders but I'll ask a few combat peeps if they'd be willing to stick their necks on the line and possible get killed so that I can get identical heavy duty leather. I'm sorry if I sound so bitter but doesn't that seem a bit extreme? To have to kill a NS stalker or elder or something to that respect to get identical components. Or to pay exhorbant prices because a tailor doesn't have any combat skills to get these components themselves. Personally, I don't know what the devs were thinking when choosing the drops of these components. Okay yes jantas or evil hermits aren't that difficult. But how often do they drop off those and are they identical? To have to go to the tuskan fort or to dath to find identical components is ridiculous IMO.

I wrote the swgtailor list - and yeah, not a whole lot of dropping, I keep hoping for more mobs that drop it and ask everyone. I've come across 1 leather component, and a guildmate got it for me. Otherwise nada. I have schematics out the wazoo and nothing to make them with.

What makes it worse right now is that the prices are absurd. Everyone wants the new items because they are rare and people know that the loot to make them is in demand. They go up for auction and are almost immediately out of the price range of almost all tailors. We have some people in Lowca who collect rare loot, and they never have any problem spending 5-10 million on anything they want, so there is no way I can possibly compete. This is completely unfair. I just want my tailor crafter's apron!

My buddy and I finally after 4 nights of killing endless nightsisters finally got 6 identical heavy duty leather.

The loot list after 4 nights of nightsister bloodletting

6 identical heavy duty leather
5 identical heavy duty clasps
5 identical heavy duty clasps
1 Nightsister armor bicep r
6 different crappy nightsister lances
3locked containers

We havn't killed any elders due to the 100% kinetic resists, but everything else falls before us.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone made any of these items and, if so, do they have any benefits/bonuses that justify the incredible cost of the Heavy Duty Leather (and Crystalline Clothing Treatment) components?

  2. Has anyone found enough of these to justify even making the various garments?

Right now, 4 matched pieces of Heavy Duty Leather are selling at well over 200K in auction. Seriously, does anyone actually expect to make 100K+ on a Crafter's Apron? I mean, if there are some great benefits attached to it, that's one thing, but I couldn't tell you one way or another if it's worth the outlay yet.

Man, I've been getting lucky I guess. I've been paying 10-20k each for heavy duty leather and crystalline clothing treatments from non-guildmates, and my guildies just give them to me. The expensive thing to me has been getting the schems...

i just sold a leotard for 300k, and the aprons have been going for 500k-2mil on the trade boards. trying to sell in-game may not provide as much profit, but if you let people know you have them, you can probably make some cash. I've also had people bring me the leather and i make it for them, got a 200k tip from the first one i made.

Hmm. I had a friend drop by my shop and give me free 6 heavy duty leathers and 3 crystalline treamtents. Said she got them at Tusken Fort. Then another friend gave me an apron schem and I made him a free apron and one for me, as it was the Tailor apron. Then I got some more leathers and crystallines and 10k mythra copper and rori vegetable fungi and more schems: 2 demolitionist's belts, 2 leotards, 1 each Architect, Doctor and Tailor apron, and 1 Sepc-Ops field agent pack, all free. Only cost to me was to make one from it for the persons giving them to me. And there's some of those mythical DE repair kits on hold for me for when someone finds the DE bandolier one for me. And not all these were from guildies.

I donated one each of these to my city's museum. And haven't even tried yet to sell any of them. Going Tusken hunting later to see if we can get some more leathers.

I got lucky, i was on the other night and a guy sends me a tell asking if i can use the leather/crystalline treatments. I told him i could, but he could get a lot more than i could afford by auctioning them off on the forums (sometimes my honesty is a bad thing). He didn't want the hassle i guess so he asked what i would offer for them, I wanted to be fair, so i said 100k each, at the same time he said 50k. LOL, we compromised at 75k, and i got 3 identical leathers and 3 identical crystalline treatment for 450k.I have already made 2 of the leotards (decided to do them separate, since i have more than one schematic) and am auctioning one off right now. the only bad thing is, someone else is doing on my server and has a bidof 1mill for theirs, and i started at 100k, and it's just barely over 200k. =/ If i can get the apron to not fail, that should cover my costs at least.

Now i need to get the backpack schem, cause i have 2 pieces ofnon-identical leather left over.

Stackable leather on the Chiastra server is over 2.1 million this morning. I think I'm doing relatively well credit wise, but wow, that would wipe me out; what a shame that if I want to make any of these new items I'll basically have to whine in guild chat 'till someone with actual combat skills can get it for me. Hopefully they'll increase the drop rate eventually.
