Thread: Should the 2HCS have a lower AR rating?

I'd much rather prefere if they balanced out all our weapons so that we ended up with the Two-Handed Cleaver as primary weapon of choice and the one that would deal the most damage over time.

I dont like the Two-Handed Curved Sword that much, it's so small for a Heavy Swordsman. Because when I think Heavy Swordsman I'm thinkinh Conan the Barbarian, with a HUGE sword. Or I'd love to have the Masamune? Six foot long sword that some of you may remember from FF7, it's the sword that Sephiroth (sp?) wields.

There's a picture of the Murasame, a similare looking sword at the buttom of this page.

Or a direct link to the sword, http://www.hybridbe.com/image/articles/murasame.jpg

All though it doesn't look as long in that picture as I had imagined.

HAM costs are similar (but the distribution is different) The cleaver does more average damage, about 11%. But the 2HCS is like 25% faster. It's also more accurate. This leaves the cleaver as only a good choice for those who have problems with their action pool.

However, since the 2HCS is an actual sword, and not a scary chopping axe, don't you think it wouldn't penetrate as much armor? Maybe?

Curved Sword is the better weapon as you get higher up the tree. Don't take this personally, but it's really starting to piss me off that many weapon smiths don't actually understand how combat works. Nothing infuriates me more than having a weaponsmith tell me he doesn't make a weapon "because it sucks" when it's flat-out the best weapon for me personally. It's just very arrogant and aggravating. Anyway, that's not exactly what you're doing here, but I just had to vent.

Anyway, I think the Curved should be slightly reduced and making its AR1 might be acceptable. But, later on, it ain't all that (as early as Advanced(?) Techniques), so it's not as bad as it seems. A much more pressing issue, IMO, is the fact the Vibro Axe is totally worthless compared to all other 2H weapons.

Sorry I meant "Cleaver is the better weapon as you get up the tree." And eventually Power Hammer (which is also being increased again). However the high Health cost makes the Power Hammer somewhat unappealing to me (great for Trandies though).

Yea I'm with you on that one Nag, yesterday I was switching between my hammer and my curved and the health damage I took was too much when useing specials, especially when trying to land intimidate on mobs.

Actually, the curved sword on SWG is a bit shorter by handle. The blade itself is a bit accurate.

What I think is that too many people pick Maximum height too much.

Nagorak, I wasn't saying I wasn't going to make cleavers. However, I'm not sure if I'll be able to sell them. To me, both weapons seem to be of the HULK SMASH variety: high damage, high ham, even the same AR and damage type. So, in that case, i'd take with one with the higher damage (which actually means speed in this case).

What is it that makes the cleaver more appealing at higher levels? The +'s to attack speed? The reduced drain on the action pool?

(to be honest, if I were the big cheese and reduce the AR on the 2HCS, I'd probably reduce the HAM costs too, make it more fencer-like)

I don't yet have the resources to build the Vibro Axe, but I look forward to seeing how they suck.

one thing about the action on the cleaver that many forget... the muliplier on 2hs styles is higher in action. this means the higher action on cleaver is actually MUCH higher in practice... ie 40 over 60

40 action is about 60-80 a hit if your sub hams are low this can get to 100...

60 action is about 80-100 a hit with a low sub ham of 140+

if your wearing armour just take that last number...

what this does is if you use the cleaver you can style a lot longer for the dmg in crease... if you use the curved you will be unable to use the specials as often and rely on regular/faster hits. unless you have a healer behind you keeping your action up the two are about equal and likely the cleaver will actually do better... as it can use your choice of specials much longer getting you those status down/dizzy/aoe/ pure mind dmg for much longer...

for those who talk medic... stopping and takeing a stim every 5 hits will also even out the speeds quite a bit...

so in closeing... each has its purpose.... and useing the weapon that is best for you is the way to go
